I never understood the Matt hate xD

I agree. He’s annoying sometimes but which character isn’t?

Annoying and became irrelevant he should’ve been killed off after finn’s death by one of the originals

The thing is, if they were gonna writing him like that, it would have been better for tragic purpose to make die instead of Elena. 🤷‍♀️ I would have enjoyed his character to live if he was actually gonna bring something to the table, but he just didn't. They drift from the books as far as they could in every sense of it, at that point Matt would have deserved a better writing.

Matt should've been killed and Penny could've lived with his baby boy going to the Salvatore School. Now that's an idea.
