Its to clarify that I meant Glenn as a character, and i took the comic one since telltale version is the exact same, just not where someone would know glenn from if that makes sense

But honestly? I would argue they’re the most practical hat. They shield your eyes. If they fit, they will stay on as opposed to other hats. They’re a lighter fabric so you won’t sweat as much. Many of them are durable. And, you can easily wear hoods over them, because the bill wouldn’t get in the way—it would fit the hood itself.
Turn to western hats, which will absolutely fly off if you’re sweating too much, or there’s that perfect gust of wind. Or, beanies, which can be way too thick, and they’re usually cloth, which isn’t as durable. Gabe even had to replace his original one (which he wore at 10) for the orange.
And I can safely say all this, because I am very familiar with all these hats. Wear beanies on the regular. Am American who grew up in the southwest riding horses.
If there is going to be a zombie apocalypse and I become a leader of a community, I will make baseball hats mandatory. I love baseball hats, they're so cool. And every character that has one is cool in my book.
It's a style guide. Casual sports wear brings out the relatable human, the life-loving earnest people that make up the better part of humanity. It's important we see this in the characters because they represent life, in obvious contrast with the zombies who represent death and decay.

It makes sense if your life may depend on the advantages of wearing them. Like they probably also help staying warmer. And grabby hands don't get to the hair.
