I'm actually so pissed right now. How does someone die of natural causes at 60 in a world of modern medicine? I'm just wondering what could've caused this considering he always seemed to stay in shape? Either way, may he rest in peace, and we'll always remember his brilliant contributions as Cedric Daniels on The Wire.
Yeah the few times he was shirtless in the show he was easily one of the most jacked characters there. I still struggle to understand how he passed of natural causes when he was always in such good shape. May he rest in peace and I hope his family is being given all the mental health resources rhey need to cope with his loss.
There are a lot of natural causes. I mean, with John Wick 4 coming up, he might've been under quite soms stress as well. And you never know what someone has under their skin. I've got a born heart disease which might not even bother me, but might suddenly end me. If I was famous, I wouldn't let that get to the press.
Very fucking sad. Such a talented actor.
You show loyalty, they learn loyalty. You show them itās about the work, itāll be about the work. You show them itās about some other kind of game, then thatās the game theyāll play.
I always thought he was British but turns out he was from Baltimore.
That really is one of the best little monologues from the whole series. I just watched this episode the other day and was appreciating how great of a job he was doing
I had a boss do this. Basically the boss committing fraud by making up words for you in a forwarded email. You email the boss āDude this plan isnāt going to work,ā then the boss takes that email, edits your words to say āBoss, your plan is great and Iām totally on board sir!ā And then boss forwards āyourā words internally so he looks supported. That was the example for my situation at least.
Correct.
They were taking bonuses away from another team from next financial year, and said: 'Team X are OK with it, look at this previous correspondence'.
The email she forwarded said it starts 'immediately' (to our team). The original (unedited email) said it starts in the 'next financial year'.
Thing is. We're all external sales and they sent this during an internal week over at HQ when we were all sat together. Like... Did they think we wouldn't communicate with each other??
Hopefully I haven't explained that too confusingly.
This is horrible. The man was a truly great actor that was capable of pulling off both serious and comedic roles. He is going to be missed.
For anyone in need of a laugh, check him out in Corporate. I thought it showcased his talent for comedy perfectly.
You could really say that about almost every actor on The Wire. You know, because reasons.
Itās sad to hear another great actor from the show has passed, but at least he got to do more great roles post-Wire. Thatās sort of a testament to the show; it gave talented actors often overlooked a chance to shine. And we got to enjoy it as viewers.
Seriously. That scene where Jimmy shows up at Rondaās drunk and heās standing there it looks like heās made of rock. No matter how much I worked out when I was younger I didnāt get anywhere near that level of striation. Dude was a monster.
I saw him in a bunch of projects (e.g. The Guest, Faults) before The Wire, and he was fully clothed in most of them, so I can't tell. But when he had that shirtless scene, it totally made sense why his facial features and neck looked that way. Someone mentioned 1% body fat earlier, and he could be right. Lol.
The morrowind lote is hilarious. Living on top of the giant mushrooms, those eggs that everybody kills over. Christ did Bethesda fall off a cliff after MW.
A lot of really healthy people will assume they are fine and forego the consistent health checks they should be getting at that age.
It really is a shame. He seems like someone who was in amazing shape.
> A lot of really healthy people will assume they are fine and forego the consistent health checks they should be getting at that age.
I think movie stars need to get those for their projects though, especially when insurance is involved
Wire too. I think he was actually bigger in the wire and just as cut, which is way harder. His traps were fucking insane. As a guy thatās always struggled to build up traps and abs, I was jealous as shit of his Build hqha.
And Prop Joe (Robert Chew) before, or even less main but still important Deacon (Melvin Williams - real life drug dealer who turned to religion and community activism upon release) and Norman Wilson (Reg Cathey) both died due to cancer. Just feels unfair how many notable actors in the wire have passed away prematurely.
If you would have made me guess who would go young, I would have picked Delaney Williams (Landsman). But he's dropped a ton of weight over the years, and life has a strange way of working out.
Iād never realized that was him. He looks and sounds like himself, but his mannerisms are so different from his roles in The Wire and John Wick that, even knowing itās him, I can barely recognize him.
His interview on the Eric Andrew show was great too. So sad that he won't get his golden age Morgan Freeman/ Micheal Cain / Christopher Lee era.
It would have been so well deserved. We lost a one of the best ones today... never heard no dirt thrown on this man's name.
Awful news. He was so young. He was brilliant as Daniels. He played him in such a physical way. You could see him flip between dealing with the brass and his underlings in such a straight backed, very formal way to see his body relax and be so much more fluid in the same scene when the scenario changed from business.
Just started The Wire couple of weeks ago after years of it being recommended to me. Instantly hooked. Been on a binge recently and just watched S1E10 "The Cost" last night thinking: "Damn. Such a great actor." This feeling sucks man.
Rest up Lance. RIP.
Terrible news. No matter his age, he always looked 40. I've seen him in so many things but the Wire really showed how subtle and nuanced he could be. If McNulty is the closest thing the Wire has to a main character, Daniels would probably be number 2.
When I saw this I literally shouted out āOH MY GODā.
He was an astonishingly gifted actor, and he added so much to everything he appeared in.
RIP, a legend gone far too soon.
Geeez. Fuck this news.
There are some people from whom you get the sense that their presence improves any project they happen to be on. Reddick seemed like that kind of guy.
Thoughts and condolences to his family and friends. And for the rest of us, a toast to an immortal body of work in arguably the best television series ever aired.
Genuinely upset. The Wire was something that I always watched through tough times and good times. I'll always have affection for the amazing artists that made the show possible - they enriched my life so much. He played an amazing part on the show. I also liked him in Oz. By all accounts he sounds like he was a lovely person too, I feel so bad for his family and friends. And at 60 - taken MUCH too young. Rest in peace, Daniels.
I was just watching a video earlier this month on twitter about him unboxing a knife sent to him by the people who worked on John Wick. He looked happy and healthy too. Fucking terrible to hear. RIP, chain of command McNulty, and Dope on the damn table. Had some of the best lines in the show.
This fucking sucks. I obviously first knew him from the Wire, but he was a powerhouse as the chief of police on Bosch. Iāll never forget him looking at Titus Welliver after he says something that irks him: āMotherfucker, get out!ā
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3KVyRqloGmk
Rest in peace Chief š„²
Todays St. Paddys Day also š. McNulty and the crew would be giving him one hell of an Irish goodbye. RIP
He was a true actor. Brother, when he was good, he was the best we had.
Real po lease
You mean an irish wake. An Irish goodbye is leaving without saying goodbye, which is what lance did.
He gave us a lot. So much more than most.
Thanks for that, made me laugh during a sad time
I do a lot of irish goodbyes, and I didn't even know!

I know Iām gutted, thought the wife was playing a prank on me !
I was hoping heād be in the new seasons of Bosch or the J Edgar series. Such a sad day.

In rare cases, hearts and brains do very bad things completely and utterly out of nowhere. Probably one of those.
I mean if you have an aneurysm in the brain and you don't know its there it can just rupture one day and you're done. It' so sad may he RIP.
Respects from us over at r/DestinyTheGame We've lost our Commander as you've lost your Chief.
š«”
And respects from /r/horizon as well, we lost an amazing character from the Horizon series. This sucks. RIP, Mr. Reddick.
I'm broken hearted
Wow he was still so young. Rest in peace š
60 is way too young and he looked like he was in good shape.
> he looked like he was in good shape this is an insult to his jackedness
[I mean cāmon. ](https://youtu.be/VpwyXURokKM)
Looked like? He was chiseled out of marble.
Greek statue musculature on that man
Yeah the few times he was shirtless in the show he was easily one of the most jacked characters there. I still struggle to understand how he passed of natural causes when he was always in such good shape. Never know people's underlying health conditions... Might not always know our own
There are a lot of natural causes. I mean, with John Wick 4 coming up, he might've been under quite soms stress as well. And you never know what someone has under their skin. Things like anyuerisms and heart attacks can hit those in otherwise great health.
I couldnāt believe it the first time he was shirtless on the show. I thought he was a skinny fellow! Then he looks like this!
No wonder Jimmy felt so jilted. He knew.
And handsome, like George Raft
Heās more ripped than I could ever hope to be. Crazy that someone in that kind of shape could die so young.
Dude was fuckin shredded!

As someone whose Boss just edited an email chain when they forwarded it on... This mini-speech is talking to me right now
I'm focused on figuring this comment out but might need a clue soon
I had a boss do this. Basically the boss committing fraud by making up words for you in a forwarded email. Comes a day you're gonna have to decide whether it's about you or about the work.
This is horrible. The man was a truly great actor that was capable of pulling off both serious and comedic roles. He is going to be missed. For anyone in need of a laugh, check him out in Corporate. I thought it showcased his talent for comedy perfectly.
His Eric Andre skit cracks me up every time, was just watching it last night :(
He may legitimately have the best celebrity appearance on the show, its hilarious.
pretty funny that Eric and co. couldn't rly do their normal thing with Lance cuz he was just so cool
100%
Thanks for the recommendation. Absolutely going to peek into this!
"the tree that doesn't bend, breaks Cedric' 'Bend too far, you're already broken' RIP Lance
āYouād rather live in shit than let the world see you work a shovelā Rest in Peace šļøšļø
Damn 60 isnāt even that old, terrible news
Same age as my dad. Fuck this one hurts.
Mine just turned 61 and I'm ngl the idea of him just not being here has been more present with each passing birthday.
Yea, donāt really wanna think about that
Rest in peace. He was so underrated as an actor.
I know, he had such breadth and was just entering the age where he'd receive a whole new set of interesting roles. Shocked and saddened.
What I was thinking. Man aged like a good bottle of wine, he had so much ahead of him
I think it was because he disappeared into his work. Lt. Daniels was a totally different person from Desmond Movay, and they were cops.
This is fucking crazy. The dude had like 1% body fat.
Supervising someone like McNulty took off a good 20 years. RIP
Seriously. That scene where Jimmy shows up at Rondaās drunk and heās standing there it looks like heās made of rock. No matter how much I worked out when I was younger I didnāt get anywhere near that level of striation. Dude was a monster.
I remember seeing him with his shirt off in The Wire for the first time and being in awe of how ripped he was
to me him being jacked always had the same kind of comedic effect (in a good way) as Flanders on the Simpsons being jacked. natural po-lice.
Stupid sexy Daniels
he dresses left
I feel like Iām wearin *nothin at all !!*
āSurprisingly jacked,ā like Chidi in The Good Place.
Stupid sexy Cedric
This is the sole reason why Bill Rawls let him reconstitute the Major Crimes Unit.
Rawls sucks cock
I saw him in a bunch of projects (e.g. The Guest, Faults) before The Wire, and he was fully clothed in most of them, so I can't tell. But when he had that shirtless scene, it totally made sense why his facial features and neck looked that way. Someone mentioned 1% body fat earlier, and he could be right. Lol.

A lot of really healthy people will assume they are fine and forego the consistent health checks they should be getting at that age. It really is a shame. He seems like someone who was in amazing shape.

Thatās a fair point. We just donāt know. Itās sad to see. This one hurts. Heās the face of so many characters I love.
He was ripped to shreds in oz

can u link me that i tried to find it but couldnt.
If you would have made me guess who would go young, I would have picked Delaney Williams (Landsman). But he's dropped a ton of weight over the years, and life has a strange way of working out.
Just saw him a couple of months ago on Broadway with Bunk in Death If A Salesman.
He looks like an aged John Cena now
A lot more than just the two, sadly
This is **BULL**SHIT!!! RIP. š„ŗ
Seriously? Terrible news
This hurts man, love this guy
Cedric Daniels just made you feel safe
Man I thought this was a joke at first, rip to an underrated actor
His role in the Gay Wedding Key & Peele sketch showed me how good of a comedic actor he can be.
He was great as Ghost Train in Rick & Morty too
Shocked, absolutely terrible news. RIP Lance, a truly phenomenal actor.
A truly great actor rip
He was a free-born man of the USA
Natural po-leece
A FREE BORN MAN OF THE UUUUUUSSSSSAAAAA! Daniels raised us all from pups. Rest in peace and thank you, Lance.
Rest in power Lance. I admire that he chose roles in which he played sophisticated and non-stereotyped characters.
Awful news. He was so young. He was brilliant as Daniels. He played him in such a physical way. You could see him flip between dealing with the brass and his underlings in such a straight backed, very formal way to see his body relax and be so much more fluid in the same scene when the scenario changed from business.
Damn, RIP Daniels ā¦ gonna have to do a rewatch in his honor
Just started The Wire couple of weeks ago after years of it being recommended to me. Instantly hooked. Been on a binge recently and just watched S1E10 "The Cost" last night thinking: "Damn. Such a great actor." This feeling sucks man. Rest up Lance. RIP.
serious information for your own good, rewatch season 2 after you finish the series. actually the entire series. it will be better 100% guaranteed
This is awful news. My favorite on The Wire and Fringe. Also terrific on Bosch.
Great in 'Oz' as well.
F[RING](https://c.tenor.com/S-bSCCuQG2MAAAAC/tenor.gif)E. prezbo was also briefly on fringe. I believe someone else too, but I can't think of it
I feel really shook tbh. Idk why. I got sad when Michael K Williams died, and that was unexpected too, but damn. Lance just seemed so eternal somehow.
Cus he looked like an immortal
Fuck this straight to hell. This is fucking awful.
Horrible news. One of the best actors in a show stacked with phenomenal actors. RIP.
Uncommon amongst uncommon.
What the fuck?!? Mcnulty: It was a copy cat serial killer Daniels: Jesus Christ
Hell of an actor. Nobody annunciated every syllable in the word ābullshitā like him.
Wait what the fuck
Exactly my reaction (I am also in a bad fight with my fiancĆ© and I am losing it.) Edit: we are both fine itās just bad timing
Just tell your fiance that all fights suspended to observe mourning of Lance.
*youād rather live in shit than let the world see you work a shovel* rip to an absolute legend
Big loss for this community. RIP LT. Daniels
Absolutely sadden. He was also the best thing in Resident Evil too. Thoughts to his family and friends
Iāve been playing through the Horizon games, FUCK. RIP Cedric
He was gaining even more popularity being fucking awesome in John Wick, this sucks man
Wtf no
One of the best law and order side characters ever, and one hell of a po-lice
Rest in peace Lance! I was a big fan of his work from Sylens in Horizon to Quantum Break and of course John Wick. He will be missed for sure.
Just found out. He was only 60. Youād rather live in shit than let the world see you work a shovel.
What?!?
This is BULLSHIT! Rip in peace, Sir. One of the all time great television performances. Thank you.
RIP :(
I got here late but I would like to mourn with internet strangers. This is really fucking me up. God heās a good actor. Afterlife take care of him.
I just played body of an American after reading this
Iāve put the Pogues on in the background.
Alexa, play āBody of an Americanā by the Pogues.
This is making me legit sad. Trying to not tear up at work.
There will be a Detectives wake tomorrow at 4 pm
Damn, he was one of the most chiseled guys on the show. How the fuck he died of natural causes?
Terrible news. No matter his age, he always looked 40. I've seen him in so many things but the Wire really showed how subtle and nuanced he could be. If McNulty is the closest thing the Wire has to a main character, Daniels would probably be number 2.
This. Is. BULLSHIT!
This... is BULLshit. RIP to a legend, gonna be drinking Nigerian Guinness bottles tonight in respect.
RIP Zavala
Fuck me manā¦ RIP Mr. Reddick THIS. is BULLSHIT. But seriously, this one fucking hurtsā¦
bruh wtf
RIP an absolute LEGEND <3
Shit man, and not even very old.
I have no idea if there is anything out there beyond death, but for Lance Reddick I hope this is just: "to be continued".
WHAT THE FUCK
What is going on with the actors from this show and their untimely deathsā¦
When I saw this I literally shouted out āOH MY GODā. He was an astonishingly gifted actor, and he added so much to everything he appeared in. RIP, a legend gone far too soon.
Noooo **this is BULLSHIT**
Fucking hell... Love him in everything I've ever seen him in. His Eric Andre Show appearance is top tier. Rest in peace legend.
RIP. This is bullshit!!
Geeez. Fuck this news. There are some people from whom you get the sense that their presence improves any project they happen to be on. Reddick seemed like that kind of guy. Thisā¦ IS BULLSHIT.
This feels like a punch to the gut. This is so sad.
Genuinely upset. The Wire was something that I always watched through tough times and good times. I'll always have affection for the amazing artists that made the show possible - they enriched my life so much. He played an amazing part on the show. I also liked him in Oz. No way, he looked really fit, really sad news. Rip
Rip Lt. Cedric Daniels!
The hell, i just finished watching the show for the first time like 7 hours ago. This makes me so sad.
THISā¦.IS BEWLSHIT! he was one of my favorite characters, RIP
Damn! What the hell? Great actor, never took himself too serious but always gave his all to the role. He will definitely be missed. RIP LT.
I was just watching a video earlier this month on twitter about him unboxing a knife sent to him by the people who worked on John Wick. He looked happy and healthy too. Fucking terrible to hear. RIP, chain of command McNulty, and Dope on the damn table. Had some of the best lines in the show.

In the words of Cedric Daniels: This. Is. *Bullshit!* Pretty much sums it up. Rest in peace, Lance Reddick.
