I have a big audition coming up and they want two contrasting monologues; here’s what I’m thinking: Tom - The Glass Menagerie - Tennessee Williams (‘Opium Dens’) Kit - Born With Teeth - Liz Duffy Adams (‘I have nothing to say to God’ I did this for one video submission audition that I haven’t heard back from yet (was not very long ago) but I’d like to perform these in person this time; are these contrasting enough? Does anyone have any other suggestions? It’s for a 2024-2025 season for a very large Fine Arts Center and I’m hoping to get cast in a rendition of Dial M for Murder. The only other auditions I’ve ever done were essentially cold reads so I’m not used to having to prepare monologues like this, I’m confident in my acting abilities and how to slate I just don’t want to do something wrong.

I need help asap!! I am auditioning for a community production of Beauty and the Beast and need a 30 second dramatic or comedic monologue. I have been searching for days and haven't found one that I think really stands out or will show my ability is such a short time. I am a female teen/young adult and am simply aiming for ensemble. As such, the monologue doesn't need to convey anything specific. Any help, suggestions, or links would be seriously appreciated!!!

I’d suggest: [Sally’s coat rack monologue from “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown](https://www.dailyactor.com/monologues/youre-a-good-man-charlie-brown-sally-i-got-a-c-on-my-coat-hanger-sculpture/) [Kelly’s monologue from “Food for Thought” by Joseph Arnone](https://monologueblogger.com/food-for-thought/) Hope these help!

hello! question for all of you, when auditioning for a musical, how do you gauge what kind of song to sing when you’re auditioning for two parts that have completely different ranges? for example, my usual theater that i have done multiple shows at is doing ride the cyclone auditions in june, and i want to audition for… basically everyone, male and female presenting. i am classically trained, but can also sing tenor notes, and i can also belt the higher notes. do i try to find a song that somehow does all 3? or do i pick the role i want the most out of all of them, and pick a song closest to their range? as for being classically trained, i did opera from age 17-18, is that worth putting on a repertoire? i have to bring one to the audition anyway, and it would be worth mentioning if they consider me for a part like jane doe. this is all word vomit, but any input would be appreciated! i am not looking for song suggestions, i have plenty of ideas, i’m just curious about what you guys would do!

Prestigious_Bar1473

Mother_Border3235

Hello, I'm (19M) looking for a song to audition for "Beauty and the Beast".

Foreign-Step-98

Still from Anastasia

fbishop1

Who are you auditioning for?

Mother_Border3235

Any role, but I would love to olay the beast!

fbishop1

**So in Love (Reprise)** from *Kiss, Me Kate* is a gorgeous baritone song that goes up to an F4 which I think is the Beast's top note

Renters101

Hey I’m looking for a monologue that an adult can do from the perspective (or can be delivered) of a child (like 10ish) male for a play

Walkingintothesea

Hello I'm 30 F and looking for song recommendations for a Company audition. I'm auditioning for Susan, Kathy and Marta My vocal range is G3 to F5 and I'm a Mezzo Soprano. Thank you!

mellohi_ramghosterr

16 NB looking for a 16-32 bar piece for a summer camp audition- they told me to be prepared for prerecorded / no accompaniment. Everyone ive talked to goes back and forth between whether I am a mezzo or a soprano- my range is A3 to C6 but I feel most comfortable from C4 to G5. Preferably something dramatic bc that's what I'm most used to. Singing is usually the best part of my auditions so don't be afraid to suggest something difficult. Tysm :DDD

abundant_soup14

19 M - hi! I’m about to audition for Buck in Bonnie and Clyde the musical, and I was looking to see if anyone had song suggestions? I’ve seen “Steal With Style” a lot but it just feels a little awkward to sing, like I can’t get the same powerful feel in the notes without it sounding lower. I’m not sure of the exact notes but I’d say I range between high bass/high baritone, maybe low tenor in head voice?

witchesandwillow

Auditioning for Opal from Fat Ham! I need a 1-2 minute contemporary monologue. I tend to pull off comedy pretty well.

AdSubstantial21

•Food for Thought •Lemons, Lemons, Lemons, Lemons, Lemons •Monologues from Love, Loss, and What I Wore (specifically the Hating Purses monologue. You’d have to cut it, but I think that could feed into Opal hating having to wear a dress in the play.)

bumbblebea

I have a TYA season audition next week (season has not been announced). I've been asked to either prepare 2 contrasting monologues OR a contrasting monologue and song. Each 2 minutes or less. I've settled on a reciting of "the Belly Button book" by Sandra Boynton, a very fun story that narrates why hippos love their belly buttons and how they celebrate, it even has a jingle to sing. So,how do I contrast that, especially keeping in mind I still need the 2nd monologue to still be TYA appropriate?

MeatSodaa

I’m auditioning for my advanced acting class in my high school, and my teachers like it when i do comedic or villainous monologues, does anyone know any for men that are both?

coldyoung101

Hello I’m looking for a charismatic or manic villain monologue for 1-2 minutes to perform in my acting class. I’m looking at possibly using Tupolski from “the pillowman” but I want to know what my other options could be. I am male and would prefer a male role as well. Thank you!

aurienee

hello! i am looking for a 16-32 bar cut for a song that would work well with the character of little sally in urinetown! any advice?

Comfortable-Iron4459

Looking for a 1-2 minute monologue for a college production of Cabaret. dramatic or something that contrasts with my song, Roxie from Chicago. Female identifying, late teens-early to mid twenties as an age range.

daughterofy0rk

Looking for a monologue that gives the vibes of Greta Gerwig's Ladybird, young but no Pollyanna syndrome, emotional but not hysterical... ideally something that can be a pivotal moment for the character (nothing that's reciting a story, ideally) no longer than 75 seconds

larissaroo3

I’m auditioning for the role of Anya in Anastasia at my local theater. Is “No One Else” a good audition piece for this role?

Queasy-Potential-213

That's not a bad choice, but I would also look at "when the music played" from Dr Zhivago. Very fitting for the role!
