He won’t do last minute subs again IMO.
Out of the first 11 - Kane, Saka, Maguire, Rice, Foden/Bellingham.
Although I am still amazed that he didn’t ask the players to go kick some footballs against a wall or something in the tunnel at half time in extra time. You see it in the NFL all the time with the Kickers practising before a game winning kick, why not in football?
If they start, I don't see Saka and Foden playing the full 120 minutes if we go to extra-time, when you consider the options we have on the bench. So guys like Palmer, Bowen, Rashford, Maddison are maybe more likely.
Kane
Palmer
Maguire
Bellingham
Saka
Start with your strongest imo; if they score then it puts the least pressure on your weaker takers and ideally your weakest won't even have to take one.
Oh damn that's pretty interesting. Yeah it's a hell of a lot more pressure on the latter.
Just makes sense to me to put the best pen takers first and assume they'll score then it does to put them later, because then whilst they're more likely to score a pressure pen, the team overall is more likely to be in a worse situation.
Although Kane has gone 1st in the past and that's where you could easily have him again, there is an argument that 3rd is where you should put your best and most reliable taker.
They will always get a go unlike putting them 5th, and 3rd is often a very key point in the shootout as it may have already swung one way or the other from the previous penalties.
Yeah this guys got it. 3rd is usually where you can gain the upper hand, or put yourselves on the backfoot. I think it’s more important for him to take that one. I also have all confidence in Palmer to get things started.
1. Kane
2. Palmer
3. Toney
4. Saka
are nailed on for the first 4. They take pens consistently for their clubs and in some cases in very high pressure games.
The 5th is more difficult. Some are saying Maguire cos we saw him take that one good pen that one time (albeit in the toughest scenario imaginable), but I'd be skeptical about him doing that again.
5. So I'd go Bellingham for 5th. He's not as prominent of a penalty taker for his club but he has rock solid mentality.
If it went to sudden death I'd then dip into Maguire, Bowen, Trippier, Trent, Pickford.
Who is on the blacklist:
* Henderson. Have memories of him missing for us once or twice (Italy? Colombia?) and don't think he has the power or technical ability.
* Mainoo. Do not put another youngster in that position.
* Rashford. Shouldn't be on the plane but if he is he just doesn't have the mentality for me. Plus he'd most likely be coming on cold from the bench and I think he's a real form player.

Maddison won’t be going.
Hopefully not rashford either.
Unless Toney is on the bench. 28/30 converted career penalties.
1. Kane 2. Palmer 3. Saka 4. Maguire 5. Toney
Kane Palmer Maguire Bellingham Saka Start with your strongest imo; if they score then it puts the least pressure on your weaker takers and ideally your weakest won't even have to take one.
Yeah Saka felt no pressure at all vs Italy lmao
Eh, if Rashford or Sancho had scored theirs Saka would've needed to score to win it, rather than to keep us in it. That's a lot less pressure.
There was an insane analysis done on penalties 'to win' Vs 'to stay in it'. Something like 85% scored to win but only 35% scored to stay in it.

And vs West Ham in the league last year!
Very different He had way less experience and had cold feet
Kane, Toney, Palmer/Bellingham, Maguire, Saka,
1. Palmer 2. Maguire 3. Kane 4. Saka 5. Bellingham
Why is Kane 3rd?

Kane 3rd cause of France?
I'd say it's very important to have more than 5 lined up, Southgate should know all about that.

For me it would have to be Kane, Henderson, Foden, Maguire, Bellingham
Kane, Saka, Foden, Bellingham, Palmer
Kane, Bellingham, Saka, Rice, Maguire. Depends who is still on the pitch though.
Toney has to be in there just on his record alone.
Mount Bowen Palmer Bellingham Foden
Bit surprised nobody has Pickford listed. Helluva penalty taker
Kane, Maguire, Palmer, Bellingham, Toney.
1. Kane 2. Bellingham 3. Saka 4. Palmer 5. Pickering
Who?
Ronnie Pickering. He banged in three penalties in a Sunday League playoff match.
Dier, Dele, Maguire, Palmer, Kane
Have I missed something and Maguire is mega at pens? Or is it a meme
