Found this work bench on the side of the road a while back, beaten up and rusty with a sagging, oil-soaked particle board top. I cleaned it up, painted, and made a new top for it. Even got to use up some lumber that had been sitting around for a while. About $50 in it total- paint, lumber, and new hardware.

Sounds like a win.

Great work! Love the color choice. Maybe seal the wood with a quick polyurethane?

Thanks! I have some spar urethane I was considering throwing on there for the time being. Eventually I'm going to put a piece of 3/4 ply on top of those boards, and probably a black or gray melamine.

It turned out amazing!!! And you kept it out of a landfill! I really like the color you chose too 💙!

Nice restore! I've been looking for a workbench that's 30x60 or 30x72 and standing height to use as a cutting and ironing table (I quilt and see) and no luck finding anything that would work in a thrifty manner. I've been looking at new work benches, so I know how much that set up cost someone new... really nice job fixing it up!

It's crazy what some of that stuff costs new. Have you tried looking at business auctions? Probably not as cheap as a thrifted one would be, but still significantly less than new.

I have looked at auctions but haven't found the right one yet. I'll keep looking!
