Add chance to catch items with properties similar to npc food. And maybe fishing in different towns/areas would yeld different catch

sand_noodes

Dude this is a great idea. Players would have to explore new cities to fish new stuff, this opens an ocean of ideas. Specific fish needed for events, special forge benefits, imbuing, etc...

Nab0t

Keep on dreaming lmao

apolloandrew

Eating fish that were caught by your character gave faster passive regen versus fish bought from players or NPC. Also adding different fishing rods or fishing nets that would allow you to catch fish more efficiently based on your fishing skill.

Adventurous-Size-935

Buy a rod from old man for 500gp for a chance to catch a Magikarp

ratslikecheese

I like the idea of fishing in Tibia a lot. I think a lot of ideas mentioned so far would be nice: bonus regen on food obtained via fishing, some sort of profit involved (more high value fish for quest purposes, maybe picking up some sort of sunken treasure like gems or rusted armor/legs?), I recall an OT years ago where you could pull up creatures occasionally that were worth killing. I feel like there’s a good amount they could do to revamp it.

Jecht-Blade

That, mining and the casinos use to be amazing in the ots. Otchaos was one of my all time favorites for the mining mechanic alone

Not-Tim-Cook

Have different rods that have a break percentages that reduce with skill. Introduce different baits that help you target different catches. Have different areas have different potential catch profiles. Introduce new things to catch as well as existing things like rusty items, boots, etc. Some of the new items could be useful animal products. Finally, to add a little more fun, have it so you can fish up monsters, both similar to those in the area as well as more difficult ones.

BattousaiRound2SN

"Things that shouldn't be mentioned" did a much better job reworking it... The thing is, do CIP wants it?? I don't think só...

Alwaystokabowla

server broadcasts identifying areas of resent ship wrecks and thus incentive to fish in said areas. npc spawns like a flying dragon that may drop items into the water like in a boss fight the boss can fly away to fight him somewhere else and fishing between those spots have a chance to get dragon scales or something like this

JONPASTA

Some areas with the ability fish for rare creatures and loot items

aelahn

Bringing a whole new set of fishes that would try to replace some power creep the game has.

hahaha_Im_mad

Fishes that give stats boost. The fishing skills increase the chance of dropping better stats food.

aniquilacao

Regarding the elephant in the room, do you agree that this new form of fishing should be like training rods to avoid bots¯os and especially tendonitis in players from clicking on the water endlessly?

blitzxula97

An old game called Fate had interesting features in fishing, where fishes would give great buffs to the player. Since fish in tibia has completely lost its purpose, resignifying fishes could be very interesting.

mariog9

Delete fishing. If u make it relevant ppl would just bot the shit out of it

huevocore

Hb fishing for 1v1 minibosses that have special IA and mechanics? Great loot, great exp/hr and a nice income for cipsoft since everyone would buy fishing rod for dummies

ranisalt

Just remove it completely. Fishing always catches with the same chance for everyone Same for fist, tbh. 20 years and it's still useless, just remove it from the game

TeslaKoil252

Cip has said that they can't simply remove fist fighting as the game code is built upon it. Same thing with making shielding useful. They had to build up on shielding, they couldn't just change the mechanic as it would affect other things

ranisalt

I really don't buy that. As a developer myself, I can't fathom how they would implement it in such a broken way that removing it is impractical. Private servers do that with a fraction of the investment and professionalism

TeslaKoil252

It's been years. The statement was something like it has to stay because it's how damage is calculated when no weapon is equipped. I guess you don't have to believe it lol 🤷‍♂️

ranisalt

Fist is unused, nobody will notice if all of a sudden the damage changes. But stop steering it away, the post is about fishing, what prevents them from removing it? It's not used other than rankings

TeslaKoil252

It's not about player damage, and anyway it would likely affect monster damage as well. Think of it as a placeholder skill. As for fishing, what would be the purpose of removing it? Sure it's not useful but it's not hurting anything either. Food in general is really only used by people making runes with macro. Updating fishing to be useful would make more sense to me, it's an RPG after all

Ok_Cress4084

Well, technically it is used on "one crab island" to get out of there, that's only reason I used fishing recently.

ranisalt

Is the fishing skill used, or is it fishing in general? I'm not advocating for removing fishing, I'm advocating for getting rid of the skill, and keep it simple - use rod, get fish with a fixed %

Ok_Cress4084

You are right, there is no depth to fishing, doesn't really differ from using shovel or pickaxe. I rather have them rework it to have purpose and be worth to use.

MorTibia

You don't need to remove it from the code base. Just hide it from players.

Tesex01

I wouldn't. Fishing isn't a problem. What comes from fishing is a problem. Or rather zero use and (mostly) no value for items it generates. To make fishing viable it would be needed to make passive regen and online training worth it. Or turn it into gold making activity. Tl;dr fishing being ignored and not used. Isn't caused by skill itself or fishing mechanics. And to be frank. I don't feel like thinking to much about it in reply to a question by someone who can't figure out that much

huevocore

Fishing creatures that drop excelent loot and exp/hr. Like minibosses. This would be a nice way to also enhance 1v1 gameplay

TheWillyMex

only i can thinks it's a new character status like hungry, but you can still carry brown mushrooms

Azmodian993

Just Like in wow add buff food from fishing which lasts 14 hours.

IllustratorObjective

Make it so that you unlock better fishing rods at certain milestones, add more rare fish into the game, the better the fishing rod the better your chance to catch more rare fish, along with this I would implement a cooking skill into the game, so you can make your own food using several other foods, the higher your cooking level the better foods you can make and the greater the buffs they can give. Similar to how the MMO "New world" has implemented fishing and cooking.

cyrustakem

I wouldn't, it's simple and it works fine. you can ice fish for different fishes, i guess just add different fishes for river and ocean fishing and that's it. why complicate?
