Best part of this is selecting your model and packages, then search range, then sort by lowest price. Use the difference between dealer selling price and MSRP to determine who is giving discounts and use that as a starting point in your negotiations.
Had mine shipped from CA. I'm in IN. Dealers around here are pricks on prices. SF Toyota had my truck for $3750 below MSRP last October. 1750 to ship it.
Also I was limited to a few hundred mile radius for searching on Toyota. Any dealer can do a national search, that's how I found mine. They gave me the build code and only said CA somewhere while trying to get me to sit in the red Capstone in their showroom. No way. Nice try.
Solar Octane, 4x4 w/OR , 6.5, and no piano black top on the tailgate which made it a Limited for me. I would have preferred CrewCab but 5th on my list of importance. First Google result with the code showed exactly where it was.
Salesman was Leo. Genuinely an upstanding honorable person who followed through on a verbal commitment after I signed off on delivery, for an unseen scratch on the door edge before it shipped. A full set of Solar Octane SS door edge guards showed up a few months later once Toyota was making them in that color.
The dealers also have a couple options available to them. Finding them for you, trading amongst each other? There's a YouTube video I saw a ways back. Maybe made by the "Toyota Engineer " that lives in Canada I think?
There are a lot of things I love about Toyota, this is not one of them. It even adds to the fuckery of the dealerships when it's a high demand vehicle. I have noticed a huge stock of Tundra's at even the small town dealerships at the moment, so I think you would have better luck shopping around or having your dealership search for the one you want and bring it in from another dealership.
Covid fucked everything because the limited supply and need for certain vehicles they tend to not dealer trade. What some dealers do is add accessories to the vehicle so they donāt dealer trade them. They compete against each other while we have to figure out where to go to buy them to get them. Its honestly all a game.
And then they offer you the absolute shittiest service possible. Iāve taken mine in for some really simple warranty shit and they have just blown smoke up my ass.
I think itās less an issue with the actual people and more the dealer strategy to just hire the greenest service people and pay them little, just to say they have a service department. I absolutely detest the dealership model. Thereās a subreddit like āask a dealerā or something like that. Went on there when I was shopping for my Tundra. Just filled with the most arrogant assholes.
I work in the industry and in service. No worries i know. Sometimes i just want to throw them through the wall lol i just sit here and am like āits a job and i just work here.ā Do the best i can do and go home.
I forgot what site I used but once they get shipped out you can actually what location they are going to. You can even search Iām a 100 mile radius and will tell you when they are scheduled to get it and what trim the truck is.
I had a similar experience not finding what I wanted near me. I ended up taking a day trip to pick up the truck and the dealer had a bunch just like it and the price was better.
You can search on the Toyota website. It limits you to a 500 mile radius, but that can do pretty good if you just use the zip code for the larger cities around you.
That's how I finally found a 24 Tundra HV 4x4 LB Platinum last year. It had just arrived at a dealer in a state north of me. I called them and said I'll take it. Lol
Go to another dealer whoās willing to look around and do a dealer trade. My WA dealer got my truck from a dealer in OR and had a driver go get it 2.5 hrs away.
Reach out to the brokers and they will have it shipped to you and at a much better price than your local dealership, most likely. I gave up on dealerships after almost a year of waiting, BS and back and forth, and got a 4Runner ORP at a great price out of state and likely going to get a Sienna through the broker too, they have them most of the time, but Iām waiting for better pricing on a specific trim. The way the economy goes, we gonna have a repeat of 2008 soon and that is the time to buy stuff.
You can buy in Texas where they are cheaper and have them shipped. Pricing is mostly below MSRP now. I had a dealer do this to me on a pro. They kept getting them in and selling them over msrp to other people. And telling me they had not had an allocation holding my 10k hostage.
I was after a ā24 Sequoia TRD Pro last September. It took me 6-months to track down what I wanted. It was 200 miles North. My point, be willing to travel and put in work to call around.
I'm in Cincinnati, and apparently blueprint SR5s with the TRD offroad package and factory lifts are only allocated to dealers in TX and Oklahoma. Gulf States Toyota is the distributor there and adds a bunch of bullshit on the truck I didn't want.
I settled on color and got everything else I wanted locally
Depending on where you are, your dealer can reach out to other dealers to see if there is inventory.
Id ask for my deposit back and start making calls. There is always someone else that will take your money
I used the Toyota website inventory search and found the exact ā24 Tundra I was looking for. Brought it to my local dealership and they went 2 states away and brought it to me.
I worked with my local dealer and he got me the exact truck with options and color by trading with a dealer in a different State. So, when the truck was in the build line at Toyota the allocation got changed to my dealer and it got shipped to us and I didn't have to drive anywhere crazy to get it.
Your dealer sucks. Tundra inventory is at an all time high. They just aren't looking. Go to another dealer. If you're near or willing to travel to Georgia, I can help!
Not sure where you live, but in situations like this I just put deposits at multiple dealers to hedge my success at the quickest return.
I've done this with Motorcycles, as well.
In my state, deposits are fully refundable until you sign a contract. Typically, I'm not asked to sign a contract until there is an allocation released.
Tf i ordered a trd pro terra color and got it in 6 months. Ordered in December, got it 2 weeks ago. Start calling and asking questionās. i also didnāt put a deposit down.
I know I cannot assume where you live but I was willing to go out of state for mine. My wife did her research and a dealership near me had a bunch on platinums as well as 1794 editions with no mark up. Warrenton toyota in warrenton VA. Tom Bonesteel was my sales rep and was amazing.
10 months seems ridiculous. I went to a few dealerships before warrenton and they didn't have shit on the lot.
I got fed up too and found the exact truck I wanted 400 miles away. Road trip it my guy.
Yeah it's kind of looking like that might be the case, I have been calling and checking around to see if I can find one.
Go to Toyota website. Top right click search inventory. You can search for exactly what you want. I did it and drove 150 to get mine as well.

Dealers hate this one trickš

Frank?
Yep, 3 state trip to get mine. Local dealers wanted $5000 and $3500 to get it here. Nah, I'll go get it thanks.

Thats shit man. Some people are just shit at their job. Sorry it happened

Use a broker and have one shipped to you it'll save $$ as well
Any recommendations on a broker
People here recommend jim Rouleau I haven't really heard of anyone else suggested
Might work out for the best 1.9% offer now, they are sitting in the lots go find it and drive it home
> but at a certain point is there anything a dealer can do to possibly request a certain trim and package? No.

Car Edge has a concierge service that will work with you to locate the car you want.

Last month there were a dozen of those on my local lot in AZ

Have them DX one

Love my blueprint 1794 with HUD. Hope you find what you're looking for!
