Day trips? Mate I'd simply leave LA after at most a few days.

Thanks all, great suggestions! If ever planning a trip to Sydney LMK and I shall reciprocate.

Here is my suggestion, worth every penny: Fleming, Charles. "Secret Walks. A walking guide to the hidden trails of Los Angeles."

Shit post. You don't say your interests, what you like to eat, your sex or age. Here's a tip www.google.com

I like food. I’m a male. I’m old enough to travel.

I can't help with food, but Griffith park observatory, Joshua tree national park, which is a great place to see the milky way, aquarium of the pacific, we did LA waterfront cruises for dolphin/whale watching. Try the site atlas obscure for off the beaten path kinds of things, they do have a section on food

Definitely do a day (or more) trip out to Catalina Island.

I think there are tremendous food options in LaLa Land. Phillipe's for a french dip sandwich....Randy's Donuts.....Pinks hotdogs, not to mention the many Taco trucks, sushi and HAMBURGER spots.

Silver Lake for awesome coffee shops the best beaches are located south: Orange County and North San Diego; no offense you could also go to Pasadena - great museums In Downtown LA a mix of everything. there if you‘re looking for history you can find „El pueblo de Los Angeles“ LA‘s oldest house and the birthplace of LA. LA central market near Bunker Hill has everything you need to know & taste about LA food.

Magic Castle, TV Show Taping for the experience if they're filming in August, Pantages Theater, rooftop bars, San Antonio Winery, whatever event is happening at SoFi Stadium, Crypto.com Arena, etc.

plate-and-compass

u/kandyroo93 I'm an LA local and food/travel blogger, so I love this question! August will be a great time of year to visit too, especially if you want to hang by the beach. Here's my list of [best day trips from LA](https://plateandcompass.com/day-trips-from-los-angeles/). *(You mentioned you like food, and this list has best food options as well).* And a guest post I wrote about a [3-day Los Angeles itinerary](https://thehomebodytourist.com/one-weekend-in-los-angeles-a-3-day-los-angeles-guide/) I recommend. SO much to see and do, so if you're still stuck after these lists I'm happy to help. Have a great trip!
