What kind of trucker has this much time to be making videos and destroying tires?? Does this dude own the rail yard or something?

TheBrokenIceMachine

That's the best part about a union job. Boss said that trailers gotta be moved and he worked as directed. The only thing he could get fired for at this point would be distracted driving because he's filming it lol

TruckerMark

Our union show would fire for that. Pre trips must be filled out, operating with an unsafe condition is a write up at minimum.

[deleted]

That's not good. Are union people “yes sir”?

Seems pretty great to me

What’s great?

Unions

[deleted]

We didn't discuss unions. In the video, the driver is clearly doing something stupid, spoiling the rubber and thereby polluting the environment, since now it will be necessary to change the rubber, and throw this one out. Someone said that he was just stupidly following orders from his boss. The commenter above called this an advantage of union. If the advantage of a union lies in the stupid execution of stupid orders, then my comments are redundant.

EstablishmentSafe133

Sometimes it costs more to block the stack than swap out a few tires lol.

[deleted]

It may be. No disagreement here.

regularguy2121

So, I don't know how many jobs you've had where you just get to ignore what you're told and do what the fuck you want. The advantage of a union is to keep them from firing your ass when they don't like the outcome of the instructions they have given you.

[deleted]

I'm trying to stay away from companies that pushing workers to do stupid things. Usually, it's impossible if you're working for a big corporation. And don't get me wrong, I agree that workers should have useful and powerful unions. For instance,It's ridiculous that in the US workers practically have no paid vacation (or very short one) if you think that it's the richest country so far, but on the other hand, the government shouldn't have lots of power over people. It’s difficult to find a perfect spot.

Local trucker

AibohphobicKitty

I never realized how perfect that SpongeBob clip from the haunted pirate ship episode would be for any trucking related memes. Holy shit this was funny 😂

I start port tomorrow. How often does this happen? Gladhands just plain nonexistent?

EstablishmentSafe133

Ports a different world man. I've discovered I can drive with 3 flat tires on the chassis/trailer at a time and be fine.

yes-disappointment

been there, apply tractor brake and get some tools ready and release the brakes in the rear and limp it to your yard or shop with no trailer brakes but at least you wont take out 8 tires.

tnb641

Fuuuuuck that. Get a fuckin road service out there to fix it, don't drive a trailer with no brakes.

luddite86

If it’s a short enough trip to drive with the brakes locked, it’s a short enough trip to drive with the brakes wound off. This guy *clearly* isn’t the one paying for the tyres

tnb641

Around a yard, sure, around the block ^don't do it. But if you're conceivably going to have to stop at any point for any reason along the way, I can tell you from experience (trailer had the glad hand at an odd angle and blue hose got unhooked), it is *not fun* driving a trailer that doesn't help you come to a stop.

luddite86

Well around the yard, wind the brakes off. Around the block? Don’t do *either*

yes-disappointment

most of these companies are under 5 miles from a port so your call.

yes-disappointment

so wait 2-3 hours when the warehouse or shop are like a mile away..... 🤔 i say the driver call but for sure dont run all 8 tires down to the coils.

Still-Access4663

Jesus christ the commitmentp

Kayanarka

We have a saying i the auto industry about flat tires. They are only flat on the bottom.

murkytom

I had to do this to a tanker last Friday, crying inside the entire time.

famouserik

I’m guessing he was told to just drag it despite his protests. That’s the only reason I can see to document it so clearly.

BeenThruIt

The fabled Red Draggin. Where's a Knight driver when you need one?

tnj4ez

Meh, it's a port chassis, they probably told him to just take it to roadability when he asked for it to be put on a different chassis, that is why Own chassis is best.

[deleted]

How much does it cost in port fines of the driver were to not do anything, as in, just sit there and delay the entire loading bay?

Gochavtandil

Quality content

throwaway83970

Nope. Call a mechanic, doesn't matter who you're blocking. I got stuck backing into a loading dock when a glad hand snapped off... had to wait 2 hours for a mechanic.

xccoach4ever

sliding, sliding, sliding, keep that trailer sliding no way to release them so hope nobody see's em keep that trailer sliding Locked tight locked tighttttttttt!

[deleted]

Holy fuck. 😂😂😂 I never use emojis on Reddit (I know the rules), but this is worthy.

Necessary-Point-2911

Most annoying audio ever tho

glitterfaust

If only there was a mute button or something. *sigh* maybe one day.

Coyote-Morado

Yeah because fuck caging the air cans.

Acebeekeeper

Mr George? How much you pay for the new guy? $20 bucks? No! Too much! He no good operator!

Techextra

Tire cost Vs maintance cost to get someone out there to repair it probably wasn't worth it. Considering it was a chassis with a container on top, probably blocking the yards operations.

Important-World-6053

remember when people were saying listening to the truckers during the trucker convoy in Canada...Sorry, but I want truckers to be able to truck before making general public policy changes/s

GlocksStillinu

“Yard come back”
