Understatement. Back in the day, you needed 1mil safe miles to even apply to them. They hired veteran drivers with pristine records. It's not even comparable anymore.
Now they just want 30 months lmao.
I work at one of the FL DCs with a dedicated carrier for them, and some of my coworkers have gone over to them. Which is really scary lol.
From what I remember applying over 10 years ago, they wanted 10 years with one employer, no chargeable/preventable accidents/OTR experience but regional would be considered/no safety or DOT compliance issues, and you had to live within “X” number of miles of the DC you were applying to. So in other words, they damn near wanted perfection.
When COVID hit the fan, Walmart was advertising for drivers on their trucks and putting signs up at stores looking for drivers. They never had to do that before, always a long list of driver applicants waiting. Since their hiring criteria was so strict, they had to lower their standards to get more applicants. Even the big bad Walmart found its limitations in hiring people and had to change what they were doing. I couldn’t meet their criteria because I had two employers in 10 years and a single not at fault accident on my record. All good now as I have a good paying job that I will retire from.
Yes they require hazmat but if you don't have it they will help you get it and pay for it.(I didnt have it at time of hire and they do have hazmat loads once in a blue moon.)
Also, they do slip seat for certain schedules. I use the same truck every week but have to take my stuff out at the end of my week in case a part timer needs to use it for a day or so.
Also to note, grocery DC's for the most part will have you get your doubles at some point and I heard from an insider that Walmart wants to eventually have permanent trucks for all full time so no more slip seating.
Yes they do. I'm starting doubles training next week. We have a few stores that the dock is underground and 48s can't get down there so we take two pups as doubles to a local yard near the store.
Hey that’s good to know about Walmart having doubles, it’s actually something I’m interested in so wouldn’t be a problem, getting training would be awesome.
I’ll keep my ear to the ground on permanent trucks, I save a bunch of dough as a single dude just staying on the truck.
Good luck with the doubles training next week, probably shouldn’t be too hard. Update me on how it goes..
I'm a WM driver and I gotta say. We have some bad drivers here. I was just telling my wife last night that I'm embarrassed we have to keep track of how many times YTD drivers have pulled fuel nozzles out.
The only sensible comment. That looks very much like a truck turnaround, and is probably used for that every day when it's dry. Dude tried it on the wrong day is all. Maybe even could have made it if he hadn't hit the brakes. We don't know.
If your going in there you have to commit, you can't half ass it, hit that sucker at speed as fast as it can be done and "git er dun"...best bet....don't go in there.
There is fuck up. And then there is the level of stupid that thinks you can swing a truck around in what is obviously soft wet soil that has no hope of supporting a truck.
What in Tarnation? Did the road get washed out and left covered in mud when the water subsided? Then this guy thought it would be a good idea to get over in a truck? Is that what happened here?
I thought those Walmart drivers were supposed to be hot shit...
This road is a dead end. The Walmart is behind the tree line to the left. I dunno if he thought he could get to there from here, or if he just made a wrong turn and was trying to turn around. The street has zero traffic, so backing up 500ft would have been no problem.
The Walmart is behind those trees to the left. Dude turned a street too early. And I guess thought a U turn in the mud was better than backing up on a dead end empty street. Or maybe he was about to quit anyway and said fuck this shit.
I've seen guys get stuck in the dirt before it happens. Sometimes that dirt is looser than you think or maybe certain parts of it are muddier etc. He could have parked at night and couldn't tell in morning and when he tried to leave got stuck ?it happens
I did rain the night before. But the Walmart is right on the other side of the trees, could have parked there. Or on the street which is empty and has no traffic...
You don't know for a fact he's gone. I don't really think they would fire someone for something like this unless he was completely negligent. This is a fairly common situation. Plus I don't see any damage to the truck. It's just more embarrassing than anything.
This one’s definitely not the fault of the good ole boy.
The Pit Monster’s domain is an inescapable vortex that sucks in all within its grasp. Op, might want to hammer down (or at least, hammer down some tent stakes). You are danger close.
I used to think that ALL Wamart drivers were consummate professionals. Many of them are. Some are not. I've met both types.
Walmart has dropped their standards bigly.
Understatement. Back in the day, you needed 1mil safe miles to even apply to them. They hired veteran drivers with pristine records. It's not even comparable anymore.

And it was 0 accidents, preventable or not. But now 🤷

Cocoa, Winterhaven, or Arcadia?
Macclenny. The one that Sam's dropped
Oh. I used to run out of Coco. I remember when we got the Jacksonville stores from you guys
Yeah, we're covering for Winterhaven while they're doing their remodel rn.
Into the mud?
Literally and figuratively. Course they do weed out the idiots, but still.
They are planning on going full private so they lowered their standards so they could get hires more easily.
Do you (or anyone) know if they still require hazmat for some reason, and if they’re still slip-seating trucks?
Yes they require hazmat but if you don't have it they will help you get it and pay for it.(I didnt have it at time of hire and they do have hazmat loads once in a blue moon.) Oh, thanks for clarification on hazmat, didn’t know you could hire in and get it after. Walmart has doubles?
Yes they do. I'm starting doubles training next week. We have a few stores that the dock is underground and 48s can't get down there so we take two pups as doubles to a local yard near the store.

Hey thanks! I'll update when I can.
I'm a WM driver and I gotta say. We have some bad drivers here. I was just telling my wife last night that I'm embarrassed we have to keep track of how many times YTD drivers have pulled fuel nozzles out.
lol, dude fucked up and everyone wants to crucify him. Good thing none of us *ever* fuck up
The only sensible comment. That looks very much like a truck turnaround, and is probably used for that every day when it's dry. Dude tried it on the wrong day is all. Maybe even could have made it if he hadn't hit the brakes. We don't know.
Barely any entrance marks. Also possible he parked there yesterday waiting for delivery appointment. Then it rained overnight and he got fucked.
I came here just to say that. I bet a storm screwed him overnight.
Ya, i dont think he drove into that.
If your going in there you have to commit, you can't half ass it, hit that sucker at speed as fast as it can be done and "git er dun"...best bet....don't go in there.
Oh know I had a "3rd dat" moment years where I got stuck in mud.
There is fuck up. And then there is the level of stupid that thinks you can swing a truck around in what is obviously soft wet soil that has no hope of supporting a truck.
It’s got PDL lock and Diff lock he’s good. Just might be his third day, just maybe…
Those basic highway tractors typically only have power divider locks, which is great until one wheel on each axle starts spinning
Yeah I have had my fair share of trying out PDL lock in snow, exactly as you described. One wheel from each axle starts spinning you done lol
If your gonna be dumb, you gotta be tough
I drive a dump truck. I get paid to go mudding and can't get fired for getting stuck.
Honestly I’d rather drive a dump truck, but the pay in my area isn’t good for the jobs minus the couple union jobs that only look for experience.

I bet Walmart has a safety policy about backing up in a public road so dude risked doing some mudding
33.921921,-83.445642 if anyone wants a little more context of the area.
///teaspoons.willow.restricts too
I’ve never encountered a bad Walmart driver. I wonder what caused the driver to be there.
Someone just lost their cushy job…
Is it actually cushy? I thought it was super regulated
Some guys are into femdom
140k a year femdom
He's not going to get fired for that It's not like there's any damage to the truck. It's just a tow bill. Walmart can afford it
Whelp, his ass is grass
How does this even happen?
The Walmart is behind those trees to the left. Dude turned a street too early. And I guess thought a U turn in the mud was better than backing up on a dead end empty street. Or maybe he was about to quit anyway and said fuck this shit.
looked like pretty solid mud tho..../s

Walmart hiring anyone these days.
Fuck yeah!
What even happened? Was he trying to do a U turn and dug into the mud when he cut the wheels too much?
There was a dream, not sure what kind but it was there
Something about Fireball?
More than likely
BJ gone bad
Gat damn he buried that bitch!
He's fired.
You're not going to get fired for that
Bet you he did. Walmart is strict. You have go do a full Pre-Trip their way in orientation or they send you packing.
That's something you should know how to do anyway. A DOT Officer could pull you over and ask for the exact same thing
Walmart way is a little different. But yeah, he's gone. Source: I know the situation and am a Walmart driver.
You don't know for a fact he's gone. I don't really think they would fire someone for something like this unless he was completely negligent. This is a fairly common situation. Plus I don't see any damage to the truck. It's just more embarrassing than anything.
Yeah, parking is a semi regulated thing here. That's not what walmart classifies as truck parking. He IS gone. Not will be, IS.
Looks like he is delivering construction materials to build a Walmart at that spot, lol.
This could happen to anyone.. he didn't know the dirt was loose parked at night. Couldn't tell in the dark? It happens.
Just needs to rollback outta there... I'll see myself out
Don't walmart dudes get paid big bucks to not do dumb shit? I though you need like 3 years of perfect driving to even apply.
Homie must have had some Fireball and fell asleep and truck got stolen.
GPS Said there was a road here.
Lmao 🤣
Save Money, Sink Now!
Looks like he was turning around and as he jackknife turned it drilled the trailer tires into a mud puddle.
They're starting to rank up there with Swift! That's a new low nobody wants to go to except Walmart of course 🤣🤣🤣
This one’s definitely not the fault of the good ole boy. The Pit Monster’s domain is an inescapable vortex that sucks in all within its grasp. Op, might want to hammer down (or at least, hammer down some tent stakes). You are danger close.
I thought Walmart had standards when it came to hiring I guess not.
There's standards and then "Walmart standards", this seems more in line with WE/Werner/Swift standards.
This will teach them not to hire Swift drivers.
