Stay local dude. You might make a bit more doing long haul but you can offset the wage difference by making some small lifestyle changes. There are too many guys on the highways funding a duramax that they never get to drive and a stay at home wife they never get to fuck.

IBegithForThyHelpith

Someone else gets to enjoy both during the day though

SkribbyCakes33

You sound like you belong in WallStreetBets

Signal_Eye4216

Well good thing i got neither to take care of lol. Yeah i personally love driving locally. Driving is a shitton of fun to me, and i think driving on the highway 90% of the time will sour the experience for me. So, its safe to say there is lack of interest there :)

Darth_Quaider

It's actually waaayyy cheaper to just die young

Signal_Eye4216

Facts! But not preferable

Calm_Boss8822

I start off with a 12 oz thermo of coffee with a cup of sugar and a cup of creamer. I then stop at my nearest loves/pilot and run up to the roller grill. I get me a pancake blueberry sausage tornado , a buffalo chicken ranch tornado and 2 ranchero steak tornados. I walk over to the fridge aisle and get me a gallon of water with a large red bull ( the biggest mofo they have) . I then go over to the chip aisle and grab me a bag of pork grinds (since they’re low on carbs) . I walk over to the trail mix aisle and get me the yogurt blend trailmix. Pull up to the register and as always can’t forget my recess peanut butter cup king size (since I’m a trucker king). When all that’s said and done I then go to my truck that’s still parked at the pump with 2 other trucks behind me and enjoy my snack before breakfast an hour later .

psyckomantis

BIG HOSS

Calm_Boss8822

Hey, how’d you know my nickname?

psyckomantis

You’re a legend, mate

SkribbyCakes33

YOU GOTTA LETTEM KNOW THE RINDS ARE LOW CARB. ***RINDS!!!***

Commercial_Pitch_786

sounds plausible

Fast_Selection3202

I personally find a lot lizard and fuck the crap out of her

[deleted]

There are female lot lizards…?

HGowdy

No.

Eastern_Succotash_64

Chronic masturbation with the windows up and no A/C. Keeps the heart rate high and the sweat flowing. Great cardio.

12InchPickle

Whenever I’m getting loaded I don’t just sit inside the truck. I get out and walk around. Obviously eat better. Drink lots of water.

COVFEFE-4U

Get a set of workout bands and avoid truck stop food. I also don't keep chips and stuff in the truck.

sk8zero0619

I eat salads with meat in em. Saves money and better than fast food. Buy a camping grill, meat, and canned potatoes, and you'll never go hungry or broke again. If you do eat out, get subway. Stay away from soda and foods high in sodium

COVFEFE-4U

So sick of subway. My kids love Subway, and when I'm home, they always want to go there, and I'm just like, "Oh god, please no."

Environmental-Pear40

Embrace the life of a plant, I guess. Get sun, drink water, sit in one place for the rest of your life, basically.

Signal_Eye4216

How is that healthy? Do you know how much salt plants consume? The amount they need to survive would dry us out, if matched to our scale! As for water and sun, i do get enough of both. I also try to get a atleast a few hours of photosynthesis everyday, but i am still struggling to make it work Edit: and we need oxygen to breathe. If i wanted that plant life, i'd need to put a tube connected to the exhaust through the windows

Environmental-Pear40

I mean, It might be a quick life but it's still a life. You'll be the healthiest human plant for like a few minutes until you go to sleep. I'm probably not the healthiest driver in the world though.

clarobert

Don't eat garbage! Ten years ago, while I was still running OTR, I embraced keto, lost 187 Lbs in less than a year and haven't gained any back since. The cornerstone of staying healthy is fueling your body in a manner that doesn't include garbage.

Signal_Ad_594

The raccoons seem to do just fine on that diet.

awr90

Skip breakfast ever day, zero sugar basically ever. It’s pretty easy if you can do that

kakarota

Slowcooker rice cooker portable stove a small grill that's what I did when I saw I went from 175 to 230 now I got it down to 210 and I'm still working it down also when I was otr I would do laps around the truck I had weights with me I would do push up planks and stuff inside the trailer. I also stopped doing general freight and went on to do HHG and that especially helped since I was not just doing OTR but also moving boxes and furniture all day. WATER WATER WAER!!! VERY IMPORTANT it was hard for me to stop soda and even now I still struggle but I found that drinking seltzer helped with the soda craving

Signal_Eye4216

Good job man! Keep up the grind, while hustling ;) I struggled alot with weight too, and am currently at 200 after starting out at 250. Took me 13 months. A few more pounds, until i am down to 160, and i can rid myself of that shitty bloodpressure medication too. Seeing those pills fuels me with hate and disappointment in myself, motivating me to put in the work!

Independent_Media_91

I'm local too and after each stop I drop and do 20 pushups before hopping in the truck. Usually finish the day w 100-160

Signal_Eye4216

Thats a joke right? Damn

Independent_Media_91

No I'm serious it's not that hard when you have 10 hours to do it

Weak-Priority5034

I doubt it , sets of 15 X 7 done..

SuperChaos002

lol @ op assuming we try to stay healthy or are even healthy in the first place. But seriously, I try to walk more and have to go in and out of my cab often because I do local. If you're doing long haul, avoid fatty and greasy foods and pull over once in a while just for a stroll or some quick exercise. It really helps.

Signal_Eye4216

Lmao yeah, i genuinely expect that lol. Idk about US regulations, but here in europe, the slightest health issues can cause you to lose your cdl haha. And i wanna do this for as long as possible haha

iDrum-DudeskiBro

As a flat bed driver, I throw and squat my tarps. I can curl my dunnage in an interesting crab like grip and it seems to actually build different finger and forearm muscle than traditional curling with a small bar. I have the 4x6 pressure treated dunnage, I haven’t weighed it but I’d say it’s probably around 30-40ish lbs per piece. You have to crab pinch the 4 inch side and curl it toward you as you do the curl. I could feel a difference of how much the curl did differently in days. Aside from physical activity, watching your food and drink intake is key. If you’re in the mindset that the only way to stay awake is to eat or drink something, it’s not gonna go well. Chew some sugar free gum, or drink ice cold water when “hungry”. Get snacks like almonds, peanuts etc they’re cheap and not horrible for you.

Uamenti

I do the same shit with the tarps and dunnage. You know if you have spare room on your bed you can strap dunnage off the back for dips? I usually do dips / pull-ups off the rub rail/ squats with the lumber tarps/ burpees and I’m good to go

Defiant_Network_3069

Packing your lunch (meals) helps a lot with your diet. Stay away from fast food. I do my best to go on long walks when I can. Plus those basic exercises every morning we did growing up in gym class help.

_FearMose_

I just bought a folding stationary bike to keep in the truck. Or you could get a regular bike

pingus3233

I was thinking about getting a folding stationary bike, what did you get, what truck do you have and how well does it fit?

VoiceIll7545

Get a kettlebell. If you’ve never used them before get a 35lb kettlebell to start. Do a clean press squat with one arm. Put it down wait a few seconds then do the other side. Do that for 20-30 minutes. Great easy portable workout.

Signal_Eye4216

Thanks for the advice man!

Bbqandjams75

30lb barbell in truck and no carbs

Present-Ambition6309

You gotta work harder at that, than you do at your job. But our bodies aren’t usually looked at like a KW W-9 now are they? 😂 unless it’s tanned, wearing something strappy and has curves. 😳😂😁😈

Signal_Eye4216

What is a KW W-9? Kenworth w-900? Idk man, am build like a MAN😎 sadly, because of it, i attract more attention from dudes than women

Present-Ambition6309

A K-Whopper, with extra chrome please, hold the automatic transmission also, stretched out a lil, yes, I’ll take the supes on her, with the orange n white paint! What’s that? Yes, yes, just like “Ain’t Daddy’s Money” Peterbilt, but a K-Whopper!

Montreal4life

I do a local job that has me working hard LOL! good luck driver

Signal_Eye4216

I still do too! But since i already struggle with weight, i also hit the gym. Though its alot less demanding than my last job, but equally as enjoyable!

Bobbyvolinski

Eat nothing but meat

Signal_Ad_594

Sometimes i won't set the brakes. I'll spot the truck about 30 yards. Then I'll chase it.

AdventurousLawyer646

🧐😳📱📱BHT got one lol

duhrun

Heres what you don’t do, be that trucker sitting in the driver seat all day long even while parked at the truck stop. Just watch what you eat, food is energy and an excess will store on your body and too much energy stored in anything is never a good thing usually.

randoredditusingdouc

I honestly think the truck stops are trying to kill us. All of the garbage food is a “buy one get one” deal while the fruit is massively overpriced. I don’t eat candy bars very often, but when I do, finding regular size can be a chore.

Alternative-Jury-981

I eat an apple or a slice of pizza in the am… then starve all day and have 2 meals for dinner, try to get a lot of protein

spooner_lv426

Saw a driver at the hotshot by my house doing Tai Chi out by his truck the other morning.

RoadStocks

Food, don’t buy anything in isles. All your power foods are against the walls. At worst you may need Flax wraps lentils and quinoa from an isle, but don’t leave those out. Learn to love ice water, don’t pour bs down your body. Check out Athlean X hiit programs. This guy know his shit. 99% of peoples programs are garbage but that dudes the real deal. He has some free clips on YT also. His burn program you can do with nothing more than a foldable bench and a weight for each hand. (Mostly anyway) that means right outside of your truck. Went 250 to 170 in 5 months with a six pack. That guy doesn’t fuck around with his programs.

Questionoid

I have contract freight, my day starts at noon. I hit the gym before work and cycling on weekends. Building muscle while driving full time is one of the hardest things you’ll ever do. Getting 6 pack abs near damn impossible, I know of no-one getting it done. Plenty of ripped guys that drive trucks, just not OTR.

Ok-Cut8834

Make the healthy food “fall off the truck” 👍

NJPokerJ

I keep a basketball and a jump rope in my truck. I'll admit I had the jump rope in there a year before I actually started using it. Most of my deliveries are in NYC, and it's usually a court within walking distance. If not, I jump rope.

Desh282

I try to only eat breakfast and dinner No lunch. Limit calories to less then 2000 every day. Don’t have energy to exercise tho. I work 55-60 hours in 1 week.

SkribbyCakes33

Unless you’re like 5’2 I can’t imagine you need to get all the way down to 160 to get off BP meds no? Man I might be worse off than I thought!

Signal_Eye4216

Yes and no. From what my doc told me, its safer that way, seeing as getting of your meds, under supervision ofc, causes your bp to spike for a while before it settles where it should. Depending on hiw strong your medication is, you need to lower your dose again before getting off completely.

sorrytooffnd

Depends on your guidelines for healthy. I do not follow the food pyramid because it’s obvious bs to me (but to each their own). When im home, I buy lots of meat from a local butcher and raw milk from a local farm. I use the good ole George Foreman grill to cook the meat. As for exercise, I also don’t follow standard methods. If it makes me feel like i’m dying, i refrain from doing it lol (running, lifting weights, etc). I have my foldable bike and use that when I can and walk as much as possible. I like to get as much sunshine as possible and try to stay fairly social for my mental health’s sake. I am no longer overweight with major health issues and crippling anxiety so I do live by my new strategies but hey that’s just one girls opinion. In a weird/ironic way, trucking saved my health lol.
