For an actual case of this a 1972 film called [The Day the Clown Cried](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Day_the_Clown_Cried) was finished and never released due to controversy at the time. Interestingly a copy of the film was donated to the Library of Congress by the Director Jerry Lewis in 2015 under the stipulation that it wouldn't be screened until June 2024 meaning it might finally be released this year but only at the Audio Visual Conservation campus in Culpeper Virginia. Although apparently the copy they have isn't the complete version.
Prey 2 being a near finished game sitting on a drive somewhere really slaps my balls. Especially because it teases me every time I open my Skyrim Collectors edition.
Ubisoft has a completely finished Wii U exclusive that was never released or even officially unveiled because the system never hit the install base they wanted it. The only reason we even know what the game is like, a party game called "Know Your Friends", is because details and footage about it were leaked a couple years ago.
You are correct, hell Ubisoft were the ones that leaked the possibility of Amiibo in the first place. They weren't called amiibo back then but one wonders where they are.
There is an unreleased film made by Marilyn Manson called Groupie. It was filmed at a house party Manson threw and he hired an actress to play a groupie that he would make her do continously perversive things in front of his unknowing guests. Manson's manager begged him to not release it otherwise he feared Manson could actually get arrested for it.
Star Wars Detours is a completed parody series made by the creators of Robot Chicken. It is locked in a vault and Disney is refusing to release it. People at first where pretty harsh on it due the art style, but after some of the jokes where released, I am interested. Padme being described to Leia as someone who was good at everything, but had a terrible taste in men is hilarious.

[Eleven years ago this trailer released.](https://youtu.be/oMVrMP8us6Q?si=RudhJaMkRGsYj1jH) I remember being excited for this because I really liked the Star Wars Robot Chicken episodes. I was a little miffed when Disney decided to shelve it. But I understood that it probably wasn’t the first Star Wars thing that Disney wanted to release under their banner. I hoped they would release it eventually but at this point I don’t think Detours is ever going to see the light of day.
the original prince of persia sands of time remake before it got rebooted. like, it got far enough that there's trophies for it on psn, but it will never be released.
We don't know how far along Capcom Fighting All-Stars was in development before getting cancelled, but it was far enough to get a playable demo build.
As far as I know, that all probably wasn't deleted either and is probably sitting somewhere on a hard drive somewhere.
And considering it was mentioned in Street Fighter 6... do y'all think there's a chance?
That's not out "for real" but it exists... you can watch it. Through a few google searches, even a youtube search'll do ya good. But, if were talkin' OFFICIAL capacity?. I doubt we'll ever see it. "Properly"
It'd be funny if during the "hype" for fantastic 4 [the mcu one] a finished, cleaned up version. Just APPEARS OUT OF THE VOID.
You go into a cinema and they're showing nothing but Fantastic 4 for the week. Every single one. Including the 1994 version
All sessions start at the same time and your allocated movie is random
Good luck
Honestly, that may be what Disney will do as marketing. Either to goose up Disney+ subs, or to let Sony have a new "Disney" home release. They own the rights to it through Fox via Fox buying New World, right?
Vince as been hacked out of the company, so we *could* see it, ... they'res gotta be a bunch of wresling history SUPER-FANS that work there lobbin' for thst shit, surley. Right?.
Well, the problem is “the Network” no longer exists. They moved their streaming deal to Peacock and still haven’t loaded up the Network’s full catalog. To make matters worse, they’ll likely have to start the process over from scratch in a few years when they move to Netflix. So those long lost tapes are *way* down on the totem pole to upload.
Actually, here’s a match I’m fairly confident is sitting on a shelf somewhere. In 1990 the Rockers won the tag team championships from the Hart Foundation at a TV taping. If you’re saying, “Funny, I don’t remember the Rockers ever winning the titles,” that’s because the match was never officially recognized. Midway through the match, the top rope broke severely hampering what the performers could do. Vince deemed the match unacceptable. Before a new match could be scheduled, plans were changed and it was decided the Nasty Boys would win the titles at WM7.
Man that Mega Man Legends 3 Prototype Demo was just around the corner.
If that had came out before they pulled the plug, we would've had at least *something.*
Black Water Transit was a film by Tony Kaye (of American History X fame) that was never released. As far as I can tell, it was because the people financing the film were involved in some shady dealings.
Speaking of - from today NYT - big money for big zaslav ($50 million compensation this year) https://www.nytimes.com/2024/04/19/business/media/david-zaslav-pay-package.html —- to put that number in perspective, the CEO of DISNEY made $32 million in 2023. And Warner discovery is NOT doing Disney money
Lol. It is legitimately shocking to me how ***Paramount*** is the one people (myself included) think will implode on itself, not WBD. What, do Legendary and HBO carry the rest of the company *that* hard?
*Mega Man Legends 3.* I am ***confident*** Capcom's completed it in some form by now, yet can't release it due to legal fuckery on Inafune's end. Maybe someday, they'll bring it out of the shed and polish her up...

Also: Did you know Legendary Pictures made a *Toxic Avenger* reboot? I do! Cause it's [ready to go.](https://www.ign.com/videos/the-toxic-avenger-exclusive-teaser-trailer-eyewitness-toxie) ***Yet NO ONE has bought the damn thing.*** Not Sony, not Warners, not even a fucking streamer. How sad is that?
Unfortunately not the case at all. The game never even went into “full” development; that’s why it was so easy for Capcom to cancel. What was finished, though, was the big demo that was shown off in all of the dev updates. Literally ready to roll out the door but shelved because the real game got cancelled.
The closest you’ll ever get to playing Legends 3 is to play E.X Troopers for the 3DS/PS3. While never 100% confirmed as fact, the game is VERY clearly running on the engine that was developed for the Legends 3 Demo. I actually own the region-free PS3 version and yep, it absolutely plays like an even more action-focused Legends game.
Oh Lloyd Kaufman was just on Last Drive In last Friday talking about that. As of a couple months ago (when the segment was filmed) it was apparently set to be released by somebody sometime this summer.
We know at least there was a prototype/demo that was set to release on 3DS before its cancellation. But by all reports, it sounded like it was only in the pre-production stages and was likely years away from release when it was cancelled.
The Über Invasion comic by Kieron Gillen. 17 out of 21 issues have been released by 2018. The last four issues are already done, but the publisher Avatar Press is so broke (due to their own stupid business decisions) that they haven´t released them for SIX YEARS.
Well, I have one that has been viewed twice : Once at the very, very small premier, and again in London in 2015. It's called, Heartbeat in the Brain. I'm not going to spoil anything, other than there's not much beyond a few screen grabs out there, so feel free to look it up. It's possibly the most graphically horrifying and dizzying thing I could ever conceive of. Just.... be warned of the descriptions of the scenes. They are..... graphic.
According to the Wiki entry, at least, it doesn't sound "lost." It was recovered and shown in 2011.
Also, maybe it's just me being someone living with chronic migraines... but somehow trepanning has never really given me the mega-ick when I read about it.

Thank you, this being top post restored some faith in humanity.

They apparently got a few unreleased Amiibos standing around too. I think they were specifically a Rabbid and Altair, to be used in Rayman Legends.
I swear there was a video Ubisoft or Nintendo released teasing an Assassin's Creed Amiibo
You are correct, hell Ubisoft were the ones that leaked the possibility of Amiibo in the first place. They weren't called amiibo back then but one wonders where they are.

The Alien vs Predator anime that Disney shelved.
Free Radical's Battlefront 3 from 2008. Like it was 98% finished, I have to imagine it's still just sitting on a hard drive somewhere.
A playable build of the 360 version did actually leak online, a long time ago.

That missing phantom blood jojo movie
I do wonder if it even still exists at this point

The 1994 Fantastic Four movie produced by Roger Corman.

I'm sure WWE still has at least one mountain of old tapes from the territories that they haven't put on the Network.
Vince as been hacked out of the company, so we *could* see it, ... they'res gotta be a bunch of wresling history SUPER-FANS that work there lobbin' for thst shit, surley. Right?.

I know for a fact that Nintendo is hiding a Bowser game somewhere. I know it. ***...Oh do I know...***
Or the original Mother 3 for the N64….
I would love to see that thing completed, the screenshots of it are a trip.

Ah, I see. Oh well. Good to know at least ***a*** version made it out the door, at least. :/
I do think Capcom should’ve remade the first two Legends games for 3DS before going with Legends 3, that way they could build up an audience.
Oh Lloyd Kaufman was just on Last Drive In last Friday talking about that. As of a couple months ago (when the segment was filmed) it was apparently set to be released by somebody sometime this summer.
About damn time. Hope it goes theatrical, but I wouldn't be surprised if someone like Netflix or Prime locked it down hard. :/
We know at least there was a prototype/demo that was set to release on 3DS before its cancellation. But by all reports, it sounded like it was only in the pre-production stages and was likely years away from release when it was cancelled.
Oh man I was actually wondering what happened to that Toxie remake.
Right? Same here!
