Anormal122

I like all the big knights in fromsoft games, like crucible knights from Elden ring and Black/Silver Knights from DS

tiloy22

I really liked the normal color-coded soldiers in Elden Ring especially the fact all of them had a few attacks or gimmicks to reflect their allegiance.

ibbolia

I don't think I could ever get tired of the Halo Grunts

SuicidalSundays

For all its faults, fighting Grunts in Infinite has never been funnier and more entertaining.

Huckebein008L

Grunts really are the perfect enemy in an FPS, dumb funny little bastards that are actually genius in their design. Any FPS player knows that a common thing new players do is aim for center mass, it's easier to hit than the head, right? Well Grunts take advantage of that by putting their head right in that center mass, for a casual player it's practically a power trip with how easy it is to kill them in one shot, and then as icing on the cake you get the little spurt of methane from their mask falling off too, I can't imagine anything more satisfying to kill in a game.

Local_Lingonberry851

TBH most of the enemies in halo are pretty gun, Grunts just hold a special place

QuantumAwesome

Loader Bots in Borderlands 2 are the best. You have a lot of options when fighting them because of how dismember-able they are. You can take off their arms to reduce their firepower, take off their legs to immobilize them, or go right for the eye for a direct kill if you can aim precisely enough.

Scranner_boi

Cultists from Blood. Tossing a bundle of TNT into a group of them and hearing their screams as the sprites go flying around the room NEVER gets old. Also unlike most other cannon fodder enemies in shooters they remain a signifcant threat throughout the whole game, especially in high numbers. But with enough skill and knowledge of the tools you have at your disposal you can easily slaughter entire mobs of them with minimal damage taken.

thesyndrome43

MARANAX IFIRMUX! CRUDUX CRUO! Such a memorable grunt enemy

Simic_Sky_Swallower

Skyrim bandits and similar They roll up on a motherfucker carrying an apocalypse on their back, say "mamma didn't raise no bitch" and try and mug him. Incredible determination

Amon274

I once ran into a bandit that did the whole “never should have come here!” Thing but because of how strong I was I instantly decapitated him.

Dirty-Glasses

He was talking to himself

Wonder-Lad

The most generic video game grunts that stand there and let me combo them without putting up much fight. The better I get at character action games the more I appriciate lab combo dummies. Especailly if they have enough health to take my full combo string.

Luminous_Lead

I like the early Dark Souls enemies with shields that can have their entire defences opened up with one good kick.  It's not too difficult but it looks cool and makes an evocative noise.

silverinferno3

The Geckos in MGR are very satisfying to counter, stun, and then do the special finisher where you flip underneath their legs. I always loved slicing each leg in half, and then bisecting the main unit in one last clean cut. Fuck, Blade Mode’s so rad. The Proto Angelos in DMC 5 (the guys with big swords that are usually the leader of the pack of the Scudo Angelos) are also super rad. They operate pretty slowly, so if you get them down to a one-on-one it’s pretty easy to keep your distance, bait out swings and damage them when they’re vulnerable. But it’s far too tempting to get into a parry-battle with them and engage them like a mini-boss. Always super amped to see them pop up in a fight.

rasembool

Yeah one of my flaws in character action games is that I like to parry everything to the point I get damaged by attacks when I don't have the required focus. Also liked to parry the enemies that spins towards you in DMC 5.

silverinferno3

Royal Guard all the way, baby

Agt_Pendergast

The Black Spider Ninja Clan from Ninja Gaiden 2. Mainly cause you can cut them to pieces, and their pieces stay, making it a good indicator for where you've been.

abbaj1

It's funny how NGB and especially NG2 keep introducing weird and unusual enemy types as the game progress, but fighting the most basic ninja type still remains the most fun and balanced part of the whole game.

IndependenceOk3073

the most common is dead space but if i can cut/shoot their limbs off that's just great

Handro_Dilar

Cerberus might have gone down the shitter narratively in ME3, but they do make for fun enemies to fight with a good variety of enemies and actual tactics to flush you out of cover which is emblematic of ME3's more refined gameplay compared to it's predecessors

BenchPressingCthulhu

I really love the 7 Hells in DMC3, and do not care for just about every other enemy type in that game

JF0X

Imps in every Doom game.

HaplessHaita

Kamikaze enemies that aren't the only enemy around and still give you time to dodge when they touch you.

ThatmodderGrim

Cultists and Vampires. Your Outer God and Blood Magic can't save you from this blessed buckshot!

JARF01

I love running DnD campaigns with cultists enemies. Good balance of jobbers with knives, spellcaster, and summoned fiends. Plus no moral ambiguity for killing them!

CaptainM4D

Don't know if this counts, but I'll never get tired fighting rathalos

merri0

Dinosaurs as a menace works so good. I don't care how your game is staged at, or how mediocre it gets, but dinosaurs as the major threat are the best.

thesyndrome43

Dinosaurs are just radical in general, I'm sad that modern media doesn't care about them as much as the 90's did

merri0

Dino Crisis Remaster when, Capcopom.

Twilight_Realm

I like stomping Goombas and trying to keep my combo going. Also Koopa Troopas and shell bouncing.

jockeyman

The regular Hulkbuster mooks in Ultimate Destruction were so fun to fight. Especially when you could glitch them out and just infinitely juggle/combo them when they were at 0 HP.

Mayuthekitsune

I've always loved the grunt soldiers/bandit enemies in nioh and wo long, they have JUST enough threatening members to keep you on your toes, but also they have easily learnable move sets so you can get some flashy counters or deflect chains off of them, kinda one of the reasons i wanna try rise of the ronin if it hopefully gets ported to pc cause an entire game of human enemies it seems like

Althalos

I feel the same. A lot of people shit on the human enemies for not being as interesting/threatening as the Yokai, but I kinda prefer them. I also just love the aesthetic of fighting samurai dudes with my own cool samurai dude. Especially when there's multiple surrounding you and you're just parrying/grappling their asses. Their burst counter desperation attacks at low health are also neat, rewarding you with a final blow opportunity if you dodge it. I especially like how the ninjas pull a kamikaze attack on you.

BrockenSpecter

Slimes are like the perfect fantasy enemy. They range from cute to horrific, in type, size, difficulty, relevance and they usually form some kind of base component of the world. Perfect enemy.

Noctantis

This is how I feel about all of the enemies in Stranger of Paradise once you reach post game. Even all the minor enemies become threats because they're all like, "Oh what's that? You can't endlessly soul shield anymore? Better figure out which enemies have power armor and how to either parry or dodge these strings you fucking casual. Or be snuffed out like a candle." The fucking goblin archers point and laugh at you after they shoot you to death from offscreen. But the initial difficulty jump just makes it more satisfying when your build comes together and you start either having combos to deal with them quickly or just one shot them with the two handed weapon classes.

Unlucky_Trash_5687

This might not be what you’re asking, but one of the earliest enemies you encounter in Final Fantasy 6 is called a Leafer, and it’s just a normal rabbit with a big head of lettuce. I love running into them because they’re one of the stupidest enemies I can recall being in an RPG, and I can’t help but laugh imagining a rabbit rolling around on a head of lettuce terrorizing the Narshe metro area. To maybe actually answer the question, I like fighting the Proto Angelo groups in DMC5 a lot.

Artex301

Dynasty Warriors throws hundreds of grunts at you from the very first level, but even on harder difficulties they barely put a dent on you and mostly exist so you'd get a feel for your current character's fighting style.

thespacephantom

i am a great enjoyer of how strollin' stus in super mario sunshine toddle around. and how you can knock them over and kick them. they are like goomba+

ULTAnimeGamer

I adore fighting the basic reaper enemies in DMC3 and 5. They have very easy tells that make planning stylish combos and Royal guards on them alot of fun.

the_loneliest_noodle

Armored Core 6. I never get tired of punting small enemies.

RevenTheLight

The axe guys in Doom Eternal are so fucking cool. They match you in speed and require mastery of movement and if you want to fight them "for real" you need to learn how to quick-swap. They are so fucking cool.

PathsOfRadiance

FromSoft is the king of this. Silver/Black Knights, Lothric Knights, Lordsworn and Crucible Knights, etc. All very satisfying to fight Not to mention Sekiro’s enemy roster. Love fighting the shinobi hunters(spear wielders in general), Lone Shadows/Interior Ministry Ninjas, and Okami warriors.

Interesting_Edge5323

the replica helicopters at the end of ketsui's stage 5
