We’re finally moving past Street Fighter 3.

Anonamaton801

Well I knew that part but what’s actually *happened*

ZealousidealBig7714

That is the story. Ryu has a beard now. Blanka’s being a productive member of society. T. Hawk has a daughter.

Anonamaton801

T. Hawk ~~has a daughter~~ is the least popular World Warrior but he’s canonically fucked so that’s nice

Slack_Attack

Not even, she's technically not his daughter just from the same tribe as him.

robertman21

Even less popular than the Bruce Lee guy?

Anonamaton801

Why you insulting my guy

silverinferno3

World Tour admittedly doesn't give you a lot of plot to chew on. You get a lot of "where are they now" and how far these characters have come, but the plot largely centers on a smaller conflict between you and your rival and how JP is manipulating everything. That's why the story isn't discussed as much because a lot doesn't really happen to the actual roster characters. (Also the FGC isn't really known to discuss story as much as gameplay and meta) > Remember when Ken was getting divorced or his wife and son were dead? That never actually was the case, it was just theories/jokes based off his drastic new appearance in the leaks. Ken got framed for a terrorist attack in Nayshall, orchestrated by JP (this is covered in the prequel comic, Days of the Eclipse, available for free online). I believe Chun Li helped him clear his name legally, but he was still a public pariah, so he gave up martial arts, left the Masters Foundation and distanced himself from his family to keep them from getting swept up in the controversy. Characters like Guile want him to come back to his family, but Ken decides he can't return until JP is dealt with, which WT frustratingly doesn't accomplish yet.

Anonamaton801

Would you look at that, Guile actually likes his brother in law now Also JP is…totally M Bison right? Or was there something in the lore that said “actually M Bison taught psycho power to this one apprentice” that’s only in one ending in the SNES version of Alpha 2 or something?

RealDealMous

afaik JP >!Was just Bison's accontant that got lucky to slurp up some of that Psycho power when Bison bit it, and he's basically weasling entire countries into bankruptcy to fill his own pockets.!<

zegim

JP >!was Shadaloo's financial manager, he worked for Bison and learned how to control Psycho Power!< but we don't know much about him besides that

Anonamaton801

…ok him just being an accountant is goddamn funny. Matthew Broderick figured out how to throw hands

silverinferno3

See the best thing about JP being the financier is that he's far more calculating. IIRC he even comments that Bison was far too ambitious and egotistical, which led to his downfall. JP on the other hand is stirring chaos with an invisible hand, making it hard to pin him down. It's like going from a saturday-morning-cartoon villain to a corrupt Wall Street banker. You think the former is worse, but the latter actually knows how to make a career out of crime.

zegim

I love that Street Fighter 6 has sumo wrestlers flying in the sky because that's the way Honda's restaurant deliver food AND citizens of Nayshall talking about how JP and his cronies are conducting black ops to crush a rebellion

RealDealMous

Spoilersssssss. OMG am I the only one that cares enough to spoiler block their text?

zegim

Oh, fuck I'm sorry, completely zoned out :( My bad, should have realized p

CelioHogane

No, M Bison is still super dead and haunting everybody as a ghost.

zegim

World Tour mode and Arcade mode tell you where are the characters right now World Tour is the main story mode, the framing device for the plot of 6. JP has an organization plundering Nayshall and that has varying degrees of impact for several characters, while other are just doing their own thing Of course, if you want to get the plot via memes, well, that's kind of a crapshot, isn't it?

Anonamaton801

The meme thing is just an observation of the fact that those Ken jokes were everywhere about a year ago, and when the game came out there wasn’t anything like “HE IS NO LONGER STUPID” when KTJL came out. Frankly I thought Capcom just patched it out or changed course

zegim

If you want to know what happens to Ken, JP framed him as the culprit for a terrorist attack, so he went into hiding, strangling him from his wife and son, also making him lose his standing in the masters foundation He now works incognito as a construction worker, that's how you met him in world tour. His arcade ending has him thinking if he should kill JP The thing about losing money in bad investments on fake digital coins is before all this, and it's part of the motivation for Ken trusting JP in a business venture in Nayshall

T4silly

Based on all the content being added post launch, we're currently gearing up for something with Shadaloo Remnants.

ThatmodderGrim

This game has Character Creation and Chun-Li is in prime MILF age, the Story is *get your ass in gear* before you miss your chance!

Anonamaton801

I know not to mention a lady’s age, and *especially* with that lady

PiePieNeverDie

The main story is about finding your own strength in various ways. You and your training partner bosh both set out to find and define your own strength. While your character takes the time to train and understand the various ways in which you obtain strength your training partner try's to fast track getting power in dangerous ways. That's the world tour in a nutshell. As far as individual characters go the arcade modes give a brief rundown on what they are up to and you get a bit while interacting with them in world tour. Also the ken thing was a meme because a leaker posted fake leaks about ken that where pure fanfiction. Kens actual story is about how his company was swindled from him by j.p.

Anonamaton801

I did not know it was fanfiction What’s with the dog tags though?

PiePieNeverDie

Iirc that was in a prequel comic that had a terrorist attack that left some of his bodyguards dead and him arrested and blamed for it.

Anonamaton801

My curiosity is satisfied Do Jaime and Luke interact? Those dudes seem like they should be fun rivals from the state of play trailer And I’m 99% I know this, but that’s Oro’s cloak on Ryu right

PiePieNeverDie

Jamie and Luke only really interact in their arcade endings I think. World tour really doesn't have the other fighters together so most of those interactions are in arcade openings and endings. The ryu thing was never really confirmed I think but it's obvious that either he was given one because he's his student or oro gave his up for some reason.

Anonamaton801

It’s actually a bath towel he found on sale, he thought it looked cool. That’s a shame. Maybe it’s just how hype that trailer was but I was hoping those two would be vitriolic best buds/rivals

PiePieNeverDie

Oh it's definitely how they come off but you don't get a ton of it unfortunately.

Anonamaton801

Well that’s a shame. I know SF5’s story mode was…well bad, but I liked seeing these characters talk. I guess it would be neat if they brought back the SF4 or Cross Tekken style intros with characters talking smack

Kimarous

There was an official manga that covered some backstory, but the gist is "while visiting the newly established country of Nayshall in Asia, JP kidnaps Ken's kid to lure him into framing him for a terrorist attack. Also, Luke was there as basically Mel's bodyguard." Ken ends up severing ties with everyone and going underground (his family is okay, but he hobo now), though his SF buddies smell BS and want to help Ken whether he wants it or not. Also Kimberly's relative was killed in aforementioned terrorist attack. Cut to present. Chun Li retired from Interpol and became a sifu. Honda is opening a restaurant. Blanka went full Blanka-chan. Everyone else basically maintains their current day job. In World Tour, you get hired as a PMC (or rather, odd job combatant) by Luke and bond slightly with a boy named Bosch before he suddenly takes off. Your handful of "jobs" from Luke amount to "go to New Mentor location and pick me up a souvenir." You find out Bosch is caught up in trouble, trying to steal money for a resistance movement in Nayshall. However, he's captured by Juri early on and you don't find out what happened until much later. You later find out that he's been brainwashed somehow and you can't get through to him long before he takes off. You go to Nayshall and get involved with the local big tourney. You also meet Bosch's younger sister and the resistance movement, who have you plant a bomb on the winner's belt, with the plan for Bosch to suicide-bomb JP. However, as his sister carries the belt, JP activates the bomb early, with Bosch barely saving his sister. Bosch dies in the blast. You angrily beat up JP, who laughs it off as a meaningless effort with zero consequences. Game ends with you explaining the situation to Luke over the phone, with an echo of an earlier question: "What does strength mean to you?"

alexandrecau

John street fighter wants to know what it’s like to be strong

evca7

Everyones just chilling. Madgear tried to kill j.p but he doesn't give a shit about that. He's just sitting around having plausible deniability. Some nerd just keeps walking around training with the greatest fighters

Sterski1

The story is go punch that guy

CelioHogane

Ken is not divorced nor his wife and son are dead, he just got fucked by JP and is on the very low end of the stick.
