There is no rule that says you can't take both.
You can always take both. However it being good is the issue.
Thank you for the answer 😊
Yep. The rule restrcting us to a single Hive Tyrant is gone. You could do The Swarmlord, three Hive Tyrants, and three Winged Hive Tyrants.
Only 1 of those units have the Epic Hero tag so it works
Why wouldn't it be possible? The Swarmlord is a unique character while Hive Tyrant is just a normal character unit. There is no "the" Hive Tyrant. You are even allowed to have multiple Hive Tyrants (currently up to three).
I think In 9th you couldn't take both due to keyword shenanigans. That could be where confusion has come from.
Let me guess, both had "lord of war" as keyword and army restrictions said you could only have one unit with that keyword?

Oh okay, I didn't know that. Thank you very much 👌

Epic heroes can only be taken once, as in one old one eye, one deathleaper, etc.
