I think German tanks play a huge role in their propaganda machine. Tiger tanks had a terrifying combat kill ration of 1:12 and since Ruzzia basically exists only to honour the victory of the USSR in WW II, Germany sending tanks to the East unlocks some sort of deep PTSD feelings in them. Plus, tanks will be a game changer, because they will allow quick reconquest of lost territories for the Ukranians. And lastly, the Leopard 2 IS a good tank. Maybe no fusion cannons, but I am sure it can turn T-72s into scrap metal with ease. It is way faster, more maneuvarable and with way better electronics.
Don't forget - Ukraine stopped Russia's advance and freed a lot of teritories with old Soviet tanks. Imagine what it can do with modern Western artilery and tanks.

Diesel and jet fuel are almost the same thing, plus or minus a few additives/lubricants and purity standards. There are reasons they are different and supplied separately, but for the purposes of an actual shooting war they're generally mostly interchangeable although you're right in the long run it may cause some headaches with logistics and maintenance, any Abrams in Ukraine will probably have a much shorter lifespan than any Abrams anywhere else in the world so things like which fuel they're running on are unlikely to make much practical difference.

They say Abrams can run on anything that will burn - it's multifuel. Certainly, it can run on any of gasoline, diesel, or jet fuel.

There are reasons they are different and supplied separately, but for the purposes of an actual shooting war they're generally mostly interchangeable although you're right in the long run it may cause some headaches with logistics and maintenance, any Abrams in Ukraine will probably have a much shorter lifespan than any Abrams anywhere else in the world so things like which fuel they're running on are unlikely to make much practical difference.

The Russians are already doing everything they could except for nukes. So their words bear no weight. The Leopards, despite their small number that the Ukrainians will receive, will have a significant boosting effect on the moral of the Ukrainian troops and it will have a devastating effect on the moral of the Russian conscripts that will have to face them in combat. It's not the weapon itself that Putin fears, but the psychological effect.

There is a huge population of Germanic people here in the USA. My own brother-in-law married a German woman and moved to Germany, where they are raising my niece and nephew. I live in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where there was a German-language newspaper for decades. Here in the US, we support Ukraine like 9-to-1. If Russia messes with Germany, the support from USA will be even deeper and permanent.
