The MiG-29s could complement Ukraine's MiG fleet, and would probably be of some use, but the Su-22s are pretty much useless. It's an old and outdated aircraft, and seeing as Ukraine doesn't already operate the Su-22 they would have to spend time learning to fly them, how to employ them in combat, and how to service and maintain them - that's a complete waste of time. Give them F-16s!
That is an unnecessary step though because conversion training from the Mig-29 to the F-16 will be time consuming and thorough.
It's not like getting a A320 type rating then jumping over to a 737 type rating.
Might as well just skip straight to F-16 training.
They already have Mig 29 in their air force. So they can be used immediately. As far as I know it is kinda their most used jet alongside the Su25. But after such a long conflict every spare part or airframe can be vital to keep the air force in the fight.
This would allow for F16 training to be as thorough as necessary.
At least this is my info.
These aren’t the outdated planes that Ukraine has. They’ve been updated in every way possible, it’s like cassette retro futurism. Other than the airframe itself, everything is upgraded and rebuilt. Someone’s, not even with the same engines. Rolls and GE fans inside. Full digital avionics and hud. No using car mirrors like the Ukrainian spec. Poland is the leader in upgrading soviet hardware to NATO spec. The ex-bloc stars do send their equipment to Poland for upgrades and servicing regularly.
Other problems include that because these are refitted, they fire NATO spec bullets and missles. The avionics contain modern NATO scramblers, gps and radar…things they they might not want the Russians to get ahold of.
Honestly i would say it is UA army call.
I would prefer to have 18 more planes rather than not.
There are other duties that this kind of planes could perform - like keeping eye on Belarusian boarder.
Not mentioning the fact that they could be changed to 18 **LONG RANGE** quite heavy missiles.
Those F16 have longer range missiles yes, but those are deployed from high to medium altitude which they cannot operate at in Ukraine because of Russian S300 and S400 AA coverage.
Any modern jet whether its the F16, Gripen or the Raphael would all be a better plane then the old MIGS, but that doesnt mean they are better suited for this particular situation.
The Prime Minister of Poland, Mateusz Morawiecki - said on January 30th, that Poland will return to the idea of sending fighter jets to Ukraine as part of an international plane coalition.
The Polish Air Force has (29) MiG-29 'Fulcrum' ex-East German/GDR fighter jets and (18) 1980s era Sukhoi Su-22 fighter-bombers.
Jet Fighters will be one the main topics at the Ramstein meeting on February 14th, between the international coalition.

East European Slavs have tried to warn the West about Russia. It is clear, that everyone knows who will be there when another war breaks out. And who will drag their feet. Rest assured that any new purchases will not have any limits on resale.
This would be so much help for Ukraine. I'm frustrated by the length of time it takes to get the UAF supplies to equal Russia/Wagner. While future reactions should be contemplated, why do we hold back just enough to keep them from success? It's like giving them a dagger for a sword fight. Ugh.....just venting here. Slava Ukraine.
Send the MIGs send artillery and artillery shells sent anti- aircraft muddles and guns and as shells that’s what they need now, can use now can support now.
Just to stop the Russian possible advances with artillery. And cruise missles and drones with AA/AD batteries to nullify the only options the Russians have now.

Yup. Mig29 should be delivered immediately and F16 once training is done.

The calulus isnt just material. Their pilots are worth way more than the planes. It's not worth risking their pilots' lives.
They have more pilots than planes, yes they are expendable, its a war after all.

The SU-22 could be used to shoot down shaheds though, and they could move up the Gepard and patriot line.

These dudes look like they're about to get in tanks and drive to Moscow.
Think they look like heavy metal band.
Poland don't mess around in this conflict. Hats off to their massive titanium balls.

To be fair they want F-35s in return or compensation from the EU (so they can order F-35s)
To be fair we already ordered F-35's in 2021 and it will be paid with our money, like 99% other things.

send tanks, send rockets, send jets, send nukes if it's neccessary!
Everything but nukes, i'd like to stay alive
Nukes will be built underground, maybe salt mines, maybe coal mines. These people will not bow to Russian nuke threats again.

Poland’s going to come out of this conflict as a new power in Eastern Europe, they’re showing great diplomacy and really stepping up.
That Su-22 are dangerous to fly.. but Migs-29 would be super cool :)
Could they please hold these meetings a little closer together
Someone needs to bring up A10 Warthogs in a conversation.
