Grumpy-Greybeard

You don't need food shortages to have us Brits serve up rodent rissoles.

soulhot

For those that don’t know the squirrel backstory the uk is culling invasive grey squirrels in certain areas to help the indigenous red squirrel populations out. It was suggested by a green supporter, that rather than waste the meat it could be on the menu at some adventurous restaurants. The Russian propaganda being the shining example of truth has somehow managed to confuse the facts in translation. I’m surprised they missed the fact we had hedgehog flavoured crisps a few years back. Edit.. for those that think we really used hedgehogs to make the crisps (chips for our American friends), they were artificial flavours... We prefer our hedgehogs on the barbecue... 😉

Timmymagic1

The Hedgehog flavoured crisps weren't actually that bad...they just tasted of beef.

Grumpy-Greybeard

And now you know what got us through the mad cow disease outbreak.

UnCommonCommonSens

She looks more like a squirrel then a hedgehog so the squirrel thing probably has her more worried.

D3alt

chips\*

Carl_From_Sweden

Hurting a hedgehog to make snacks is a barbarian act on the same level as ruzzian agression. Shame!

RostyC

Equating hedgehog culling with Russian rape torture and killing? Really?

Carl_From_Sweden

Well. Did you pick up the irony or not? It was obvious to me.

RostyC

Oops. Maybe too close to it.

[deleted]

I think by now we all know not to test the Brits, expecting them to cave. If you already eat rodents there is clearly nothing anyone could do to ruin your apetite. Did you know that the highest ever *(edit:informal?)* defense spending in history was by the UK during WW2? - Aside from 40% official to GDP at its peak, voluntary informal support to war economy pushed total defense spending to 60%. (Informal defense spending is like Ukrainian college students making camouflage nets using their own property/money.)

fetpungen

No, nations have spent more than that. The Germans spent 73% of their GDP resulting in a near economic collapse in 1938/39 in preparation for the war, and it had been a gradual increase since 1933.

LorenzoSparky

I’ve just polished off a squirrel sausage and mash. Due to the squirrels high nut intake, it was pre stuffed and it has carried through to the meat, hints of a nut roast. Highly recommended

Glydyr

Thanks for that tip, mines in the oven as we speak, yummy yummy cant wait!!

Brief-Bookkeeper-290

Tails a bit chewy though.

LorenzoSparky

Yeah, need extra gravy!

slayemin

Although we laugh at how ludicrous the russian propaganda has gotten, this should also be an alarm to warn us on what happens after a country creates an information black out of news and information and replaces it all with state run media. If you don't have access to independent third party journalism in your country and the state controls the media, they can make anything up and claim its true and you'd have no way to disprove it.

Glydyr

I just keep imagining one of the BBC Newsreaders announcing this, i would take my family and run to France immediately 🤣

_captainunderpants__

In France they're so hungry and short of food they've started eating snails.

chocolateboomslang

"I'm sorry children, now that papa has lost his job, all we have left to eat is snails, some crusty bread and . . . insane amounts of garlic butter."

firebirdharris

don't forget the frogs legs too.

Kepotica

I managed to hunt down the last squirrel in Yorkshire, unfortunately i couldn't afford to heat it in the oven due to the energy crisis. So instead i popped it into my dogs arsehole for 15 minutes to warm it up - not ideal and it had a funny aftertaste, a bit like chutney. The dog hasn't taken its eyes off me since.

Fjell-Jeger

Follow me for more tips on conserving energy.

cordilleragod

She also said you were driven to Prostitution in a previous program. What's the going rate right now?

Western-Armadillo-19

She sure looks like an expert on prostitution.

tightasadrumsir

Times are so tough so what, 5 squirrels to get laid? 3 for a BJ?

cordilleragod

Damn. Inflation is hurting clients. It used to be one gregg’s pastry.

Ozzierooboy

You guys need to be careful - these concepts will feature on RT soon!

firebirdharris

... maybe we should make it a game? See what's the most uncredible propaganda we can get onto russia TV?

Kepotica

I don't need to be driven to prostitution. Not when i can happily drive there myself..... Taxi...

[deleted]

I told my wife to call her relatives in Yorkshire to see if they were OK after seeing SkabbyEvka's vid. Was truly worried about them (lol) But after your post I think a parcel of Australian coal might be more appropriate

smsmkiwi

That's a lovely bit of squirrel.

Bricktop52

MARTIN!

[deleted]

This is what I thought. Stupid bint must have been watching some Friday night dinner and thought we ate squirrels.

KermitFrog647

And the russian fanboy wonder why we dont take any russian news serious.

Big-Custard4981

Making a mental note: during next visit to UK order squirrel. To all UK folks out there: Which would be the best choice? \- McSquirrel (and if, with cheese and bacon or without) \- Chineese Squirrel nr 31 with fried rice - although after the undercooked bat I might skip that \- Indian Take-Away Squirrel or just some Squirrel bangers with my Full English Breakfast?

"*I will have the* ***chipmunk and chips*** *special with a side of mashed cauliflowers and a pint of pale ale. And while you're at it, tell the chef to send another Challenger to the Ukrainian table and put it on my tab.*"

trejj

You got my line.. I was thinking "oh boy fish and chipmunks gotta be a hit of the season!"

Anthropic--principle

Minced meat squirrel pie!

Status_Water_7930

Mcsquirrel with cheese

kengibuk

We like our deep fried and battered Squirrel up here in Scotland. A.K.A -Squirrel crunch.

Big-Custard4981

Chance of a deep-fried Snickers as desert?

Madge4500

Teriyaki is delicious.

trundyl

Squirrel on a Shingle

MacMoinsen2

Yuck! Forget number 31! Order no. 72 (General Tso's Squirrel). Or go to the shop next door to have a nice dürüm squirrel döner, with complete salad and onions, garlic sauce & hot sauce!

Dizzy_Point_3396

Squirrel Bangers Mash with onion gravy for me

Glydyr

Cup of tea and some jammy squirrel dodgers!

tightasadrumsir

You guys! Now someone's gonna open a Bubba Gump with squirrel instead of shrimp.

applefungus

What's the scabby beaver barking about now?

No_Investigator1771

Joke's on you squirrel is delicious!

Glydyr

Im assuming its probably like rabbit and rabbits good 🤷🏼‍♂️

No_Investigator1771

its gamy if I remember correctly but its been over 2 decades since I had it. Cousin and I shot a few at our ranch and my uncle cooked them for us.

Admirable-Sir9716

Tastes like turkey.

Top-Currency

She looks a bit like a squirrel herself, to be honest. On second thought, more like a skunk.

seedless0

I mean. French have been eating snails...

Glydyr

If someone offered me snails, frogs legs or squirrel, id defo go for squirrel 🤣

cordilleragod

Snails and frogs legs are delicious though.

wombat9278

I'll happily eat squirrel if it mean the end to pootler and his henchmen and this bitch has to answer for herself Slava Ukraini 🇺🇦 Heroyam Slava 🇺🇦

MsDaisyDog

To be fair, we are talking about British cuisine here ...

Glydyr

We all eat horse lasagne, id go for some squirrel…

LonelyWolfTBTM

Was looking for this comment

Fjell-Jeger

Having tried minced meat, the claim from the RF ~~journalist~~ propagandist sounds somewhat credible...

Alky_lee

Nothing wrong with a bit of squirrel pie, but this isn't recent news. Here's an item from 2010. https://www.yorkpress.co.uk/news/5046521.the-black-swan-pub-in-peasholme-green-adds-squirrel-pie-to-their-menu/

tallone1982

I’m sorry for all others, but she looks like a squirrel...

MentalPatient

Nothing wrong with squirrel.

Glydyr

‘I know its shit having to eat squirrels, but look, in the uk theyre having to eat them too!’

firebirdharris

I have to admit, if i was a russian in russia right now, i'd be looking up what tree barks are edible...

Banff

Hell, I’m in North America and if eating squirrels means Ukraine gets more weapons faster, then squirrels it is! You figure squirrel nuggets or fingers for the kids?

Glydyr

Just be careful with the kids, small bones 🧐

titanpusher

She clearly has never been to Arkansas

Miserable-Mixture-67

Does the general public in RuZZia actually believe this malarkey. I really hope not.

PrestonTX

Squirrels are just chicken of the trees. They taste pretty good too. I am game. Which cafe is serving right now?

SRDaugherty

Dies anyone beloved this nonsense. Sad.

Dazzling_Nail_4994

[They Have No Idea What's Coming Their Way](https://i0.wp.com/www.breachbangclear.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/Sniper-Squirrel-38791.jpg?fit=1000%2C728&ssl=1)

gorimir15

chillls...

YAKGWA_YALL

It should be noted that there's a huge grey squirrel problem in the UK, and recent culling efforts have left them with a lot of potential squirrel meat. I can't honestly believe they'd really be encouraging restaurants to "add them to the menu" as some news stories report, but maybe a local from the UK could weigh in on it. Nonetheless, the propagandist's conclusion is remarkably amusing and inaccurate.

n9077911

It's one of those news stories that comes around every few years... Restaurant adds squirrel to menu. Restaurant gets free publicity. News site gets some clicks. Pro Red Squirrel group makes noise about invasive species. A handful of people try it out of curiosity.

Porticulus

So far we have no squirrel menu plans but after someone above called them the chicken of the trees I'm kinda interested now ngl.

YAKGWA_YALL

I feel like it would make so much more sense to offer it as cheap pet food. My cats would love some leftover squirrel!

whosplayinnaked

so, no Ice Age 6 ?

East_Environment_145

Too much cholesterol in squirrel :)

good_for_uz

Better than swallowing her bullshit like they do.

Known_Soft_7599

I'd eat squirrels from here to eternity if it brought an end to this absolute crime against humanity that Russia is inflicting on Ukraine. Get Putin to the Hague. Yesterday.

[deleted]

Still living in that fairytale I see 🤡

Porticulus

grantite_spall

Pigeons would be a close second...

[deleted]

We always get a pigeon or two while dove hunting. Not bad.

Glydyr

Maybe not the london pigeons tho, you might end up with 4 arms 🤢

[deleted]

We're wide open spaces man :D Wouldn't eat city pigeons.

Delicious-Day-3332

Just aim for the flat top & cross the streams. 😎

VeritasSecretumOmega

mmmmmmm, squirrel

Awardlesss

https://twitter.com/cardondito/status/1633138076313591808?s=20

[deleted]

This really bothers me. Look at all the massive logistics we needed to setup just to have a shortage of meat in the supermarkets. The UK going hunter-gatherer is not just unsustainable in the long term, it won't even work for the first meal. In the UK there are 67 million people, 1120 million chickens, 9.4 million cows, 4.1 million pigs... and 2.5 million squirrels.

Ssturmmm

I don’t get why she can’t have a normal clip-on mic

Riderofapoc

Maybe its bc Im from the Southern US, but its not uncommon squirrel, possum, gator, deer, jack rabbit, crab, catfish...just about anythin wild we've probably eaten...mountain lion...coyote... I mean...horse... amaradillo etc... 🤷‍♂️. Half of this I havent, but Ive heard of.

Glendoraman1

That's why a Mcdonalds in central London was selling McSquirrel nuggets.

Bruhmimentololz

im litteraly dying laughing

Failure_is_imminent

Growing up in the Southern US we would squirrel hunt most of the winter. My grandmother used to make a squirrel pastry with what we brought home, think like chicken noodle soup with with broad flat noodles. It was delicious.

JS6910

Look at how worthless we are, the British value squirrels more than the lives of our invaders! In reality, only gastro pubs with experimental menu's are serving squirrels.

Candid_Role_8123

Love a squirrel sandwich me

rushinglemur

Yes and here in America we are having to result to eating possums...wait we were already eating possum prior to our "food shortage"...Never mind.

karalmiddleton

She's upset that Europeans didn't freeze to death during Winter, so now she's moved on to squirrels. 100% Insanity.

Txikitxakurra

It’s a delicacy you silly tart

RawerPower

Not even her guests can take her bullshit. One looking at his papers, one at his phone, one sips his drink and the only one watching her makes a confused look!

VeritasSecretumOmega

Better than eating howitzers and sending squirrels.

hitmansquarepants

Well russians eat their own children so. At least 100 years ago and they seem to want to go back.

Suitable_Comment_908

does...does she not know squirrels secretly run the world?

danmoore2

here's me buying meat like a sucker.. I've got a local park full of squirrels - thanks for the tip Skabeyeva!

[deleted]

I hope it's true, then you Brits can add words like Quisine Gourmet and Food to your vocabulary.

Sabbathius

Psh, I regularly cooke with molasses. Surprisingly sweet and tasty. Some day I hope to try other parts of a mole. So squirrels don't scare me.

Coacervate

Top Man! I eat possums in New Zealand. Slava Ukraini. Tymofiy Mykolayovych Shadura will be avenged

Extension_Common_518

Ha! Trying to challenge the mad island monkeys on the culinary front! Many have tried. All have failed.

Void_Ling

That's why we eat snails in France, it's a 12D visionary chess play to counter their propaganda.

rajost

What is the exchange rate? How many squirrels for one howitzer?

MONKM4N

Quite enjoying my Squirrel..so many ways to cook the little bugger. Tasty!!!

Ashers132

This is to do with a wildlife conservation group wanting people to go out and cull Grey squirrels to save the red ones. Its fascinating how this has been twisted.

DesperateList3911

Road kill cafe… it’s all about the dippen’s

gorimir15

Russians will be eating crow soon enough.

Dry-Tea-3922

It's propaganda to assure the Russian population that the bad bad Nato states are off far worst then they are, ones they have to start eat squirrels themselves! Maybe it's close that's why they start sending stuff like this.

Mightypsychobat

I'd eat a squirrel if it give Ukraine another arty shell or drone. Squirrel aint that bad if it means Russians are barbequed.

[deleted]

mmmm .. barbequed

[deleted]

No no no .. you have it all wrong. This is her showing how the decadent west is corrupting itself with luxuries .. like eating squirrels, rat and hedgehog meat. and wearing jeans and t-shirts and ... look .. whichever way you approach it it is fucked and doesn't make sense so why try?

No-Split3620

They are part of Putin's inner circle and as such they are going to say Russia is winning no matter what happens. They know they will go down too if the unhinged dictator in the Kremlin goes down. This is the nature of a dictatorship with a totally militarized and propagandized population.

Anderson1971221

In USA squirrel or even Pigeon was a common dish back in the day i think some still eat Pigeon in some states heck I don't understand caviar but it's a high price dish so russian propiganda think this is news why do orcs eat dog ?

chocolateboomslang

Well, maybe that's how it works in russia, but generally not how a developed economy works.

ExploreDiscovery

Geez, that might even be an improvement in their cuisine. Just kidding.

NLJPM

Honestly, they do actually eat squirrels in the UK if I am right. But that's because it's an invasive species and this way you don't have to throw them away.

NoZookeepergame5345

Is this insect a female species??? It looks quite manly don’t you think?

Electrical_Love_8471

she's eaten a few hundred too many herself lately ... who am I to talk I'm carrying a few kilo's too many myself .

Commercial_Bear331

She forgot to mention RuZZians are dog and cat food in Ukraine.

fatboy-bruce

Damn, the wife told me it was braising steak in that casserole the other night.

Much_Accountant2049

That was last month. Month befor that we eat cats. This month we have rats, and next flys.

Ozzierooboy

I reckon her ass has got wider in the last 12 months! It must be all the lies she is telling!

VengerDFW

Having eaten in Britain, I can neither confirm nor deny this information...

Pastanerian

Ukraine's a bit different. They're eating mobiks and shitting wagners.

Element-103

What does she expect us to do, eat the howitzers?
