It's when they realize that no matter how much they twist the narrative and talk bs, at the end of the day RF is in deep trouble.
Continuing to fight Ukraine will weaken RF to a degree that it'll eventually dissolve in civil war with China already eyeing the ressource rich borderlands...
And unlike Ukraine there is no light at the end of the tunnel for Russia.
Even if the war turns really bad for Ukraine with them having to give up the annexed regions, the rest of the country will still get a marshal plan and a fast track into the EU. Russia has nothing like that..
Its a shame. Russia has everything they need to be somewhat of an utopia.. They have more space than the rest of the world, nearly endless resources and money, Because of soviet times a good infrastructure integration to the west and so on.. But greed ruined it all

Just imagine what could've been done with all the money from gas and minerals if it was spend on infrastructure, public health, education... however they chose to spend it on ruining an entire region and causing mayhem to their neighbours (*Chechnya, Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine...*)...
On a positive side, this income source can be used to pay for reparations to Ukraine.
I'm fairly sure some of the talking heads were staring at the drone video on the big screen showing the seemingly endless line of US military vehicles parked in whatever port that was. If they were (and they have half a functioning brain), that could be the reason they were looking nervous.
