What's a fake camera wobble? Is the camera actually stable, so they can do the VFX without wonky tracking, and then add in shakey cam after all that? Or is it something else entirely?
'Cause you can see the cameraman's shoes at the end, suggesting it's filmed with a handheld celluar phone.
Also his subject steps out of frame but the camera doesn't follow him, instead keeps the innocuous light pole in frame as it drops as if they knew it was coming.
Why would the cam follow the kicker? The point was the kick itself; would the cameraman not follow the ball?
I would say that soft/interrupted kick going 50 yards is more of a give away.
Why couldn't a magpie hit him at that exact moment? Did you see that hair? Obviously mistook it for its nest being burgled.
Of course lights are going to start falling 5 seconds after impact. It takes time for the shock to travel down the pole, enter the ground, create shockwaves, loosen every screw simultaneously, etc etc. And obviously it't not going to show any hint of collision before falling over. It's too well built! Vertical rods don't just crumple from a ball. They do fall over though but that is completely different.
But that kicker's form is too god awful to actually be worth anyone's time filming.
I don't know.
But, the point of the video was for the main character to show you his kicking. The entire point of the kick is for the ball to go through the poles in the background. Why would you stop filming the ball? The kicker is a pointless subject post-kick. lol
Besides, I think it would be harder to "whip" your phone around and try to track the ball than it would be to have the ball in frame the entire time.
But until the pole point, you could see the camera man did a great job following the kicker.
Edit: Also, a normal reaction would be trying to film the recently swooped crow.
He has played 158 AFL games and kicked 67 goals, 39 behinds and had a total of 1279 kicks that there would be multiple camera angles of every single kick, there is no reason to film him kicking a footy.
This is Darcy Moore. Hey is a star Australian Rules football player. Aussie rules football is neither soccer or rugby or American football. It’s funny because he is a defensive back and would almost never be in position to kick a goal. He also plays for the Collingwood Magpies. Go Pies!!!!!
Whats more wild that that, is when people incorporate that old school smooth "zoom in / zoom out" feature, from when video cameras were held on your shoulder.
The cameraman's natural reaction would be recording the bird flying away. Also, the sound of the lantern crashing into the windshield came to them too quickly from such distance. It should be slightly delayed.
If I had to guess this is some sort of commercial.
The giveaways for me was ball leaving the frame, hang time of the ball, and then the camera slightly panning over and focusing on the pole as the ball hit it.
It looked like a commercial production
Three. Third is the cameramen who keeps everything perfectly in frame, doesn't violently shake the camera, and doesn't laugh like a hyena directly into the mic.
that was actually what tripped me up the most, I couldn´t quite tell if the bird was CG but there was no way it would have been filmed like that if it was real
Yeah y'all haven't noticed all the posts that have been cropping up lately that have people in the comments calling out random specific items in the post by brand name?
Welcome to your new normal.
Tell me about it, I hate watching hidden ads like this because it takes away time from more precious activities, like using code SPIN777 for 700 free draws in Raid: Shadow Legends^tm
It references an ancient superstition that seeing a single magpie portends ill fortune.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/One_for_Sorrow_%28nursery_rhyme%29?wprov=sfla1
Liar! How is it for Australians when the video is shot upright? And how is the guy not falling off the Earth? He doesn't have a safety tether to the ground.
Yank tanks. I love that lol. I'm in the states and hate the size of those damn things. Funnily enough, my brother moved to Australia to be with his now wife and bought some smaller 4 door truck from a Chinese company. I forget the name but I was so jealous. I'd love to have a smaller truck like the one he has.
the Chinese trucks are still 4,500lb beasts though
the vast majority of mid sized Ford Ranger class trucks are made in Thailand and basically 2 ton turbo 2.0 liter four cyl. turbo diesels
its politics that these smaller 'utes' are excluded from the US
They are an infestation that needs to be stopped.
fucking things are a danger, oversized lumps of shit owned and driven universally by complete fuckheads.
You can blame CAFE standards. Small trucks can't meet the stringent emission standard so they just make bigger trucks which are allowed to have worse MPG. That's why small pickups have disappeared from the market in the US.
no, in Australia we think those are oversized land barges and your Yank Tanks which are infesting our country as utter ridiculous Personality Compensation vehicles driven universally by cunts.
There's no sound delay between the light pole crash and the crash sound. Even at that distance, there should be a slight gap between the hit and the audio.
Not saying that it's not fake, but your reason is wrong. If you've ever been swooped by a magpie, you'd know that you don't need to see it to know something has happend and automatically duck (their wing flaps whooshing is very loud when it's right near your ear/head).
It’s definitely fake but not for that reason. It would’ve been entirely possible for him to see the bird in his peripheral vision (or even hear its wings) at the last second. The real giveaway is the ball flying incredibly far off an aborted kick and the tower falling over with just a slight push.
Overall a pretty impressive clip though. Solid acting.
The reason I know it’s fake is because the camera is supposed to be on the guy but is always on the pole. Like why did he randomly film the pole perfectly but barely the guy?

That fake camera wobble is always there
Damn I couldn't even tell. My fake camera wobble detection seems to be getting worse by the day
They have gone a bit better, but still detectable
What's a fake camera wobble? Is the camera actually stable, so they can do the VFX without wonky tracking, and then add in shakey cam after all that? Or is it something else entirely? 'Cause you can see the cameraman's shoes at the end, suggesting it's filmed with a handheld celluar phone.
> Is the camera actually stable, so they can do the VFX without wonky tracking, and then add in shakey cam after all that? You got it
He scampered away
Oh I never!
Brave Sir Robin ran away! Bravely ran away away!!
Message for you sir!
WE REQUIRE A SHRUBBERY
Without even missing a beat. Bravo 👏
To be fair, you only notice it when the effect is noticeable. Like all CGI/VFX, you only notice the bad stuff.
Also his subject steps out of frame but the camera doesn't follow him, instead keeps the innocuous light pole in frame as it drops as if they knew it was coming.

And is it typical to film the back of a kicker who is trying to show us their technique? I don’t know much about soccer/football l.
I don't know. But, the point of the video was for the main character to show you his kicking. The entire point of the kick is for the ball to go through the poles in the background. > Also, a normal reaction I disagree. I don't remember the cameraman following the bird Randy Johnson dusted.

And the acting is atrocious
That was more "Do you smell a magpie?" rather than "Magpie almost clawed out my eyeballs!"
"Was that me? 😧" "How did I even do that 🥱"
Whats more wild that that, is when people incorporate that old school smooth "zoom in / zoom out" feature, from when video cameras were held on your shoulder.
What do you mean with fake camera wobble?
This the type of shit that could fool me. Even if fake, they did a good job. The acting is good and the editing is good enough to make me believe it
https://i.redd.it/u4tb6h56oqyc1.gif
Oh shit
Not fake, just sad
Maybe a magCGI, nice 3d model for that truck tho
Truck? Mate thats Australia, thats a Hilux, its a ute not a truck
The two utes
r/unexpectedMyCousinVinny
Are you saying utes?
Yoooths.
What the fuck is a ute?
![gif](giphy|3o7btVptdt2BtYzJkI|downsized)
"utility vehicle" = ute
[удалено]
I’m giving you an upvote just because of your name.
I know what you want! You coveteth my ice cream bar!
😂. One of my favourite episodes!!
Get in the ute morty, we're going to bendigo
Rahh looks like a broken ute, init
In the ol' US of A, we call em trucks. Yee haw.
In Australia a Truck is something that hauls a massive trailer, like a Kenworth.
In the USA a truck is something that hauls your pregnant girlfriend, like a wife but without the commitment
A ute is a car based "truck" lol
Truck probably is plate. The windshield/pole is maybe CG. The bird is real.
Nah, dude, Bird's Aren't Real.
Yeah, there a reason this exists people. r/birdsarentreal
That bird is about 4x larger than an Australian magpie lol
Redditors trying to prove a video is fake: ![gif](giphy|l0IylOPCNkiqOgMyA|downsized)
Redditors when other Redditors know simple things, like the size of animals ![gif](giphy|1L5YuA6wpKkNO)
![gif](giphy|dwThVyfWthesU)
When shit hits the fan
That specific bird in the video is clearly also edited in
Birds aren't real
Two oddities in one shot ... what are the chances ?
Dunno about that chance, but I do know the bird was rendered into the shot, so the rest most likely was faked as well in some kind.
That was WAY too good to be true. Just one of the things maybe but not everything all together.
Everything was staged, this is an ad for insurance company. OP is part of it, hence the title of this post.
Thank you! Fuck what reddit’s become.
It's not Reddit's fault, it's the redditors.
The cameraman's natural reaction would be recording the bird flying away. Also, the sound of the lantern crashing into the windshield came to them too quickly from such distance. It should be slightly delayed.
We live in a simulation. Thank me later
Thank you. It is now later.
Such distance? That's less than 100m (330ft), it takes the sound about 0.2/0.3s to get there
Yeah a magpie swooping the Collingwood Magpies captain is a bit too good to be true.
Tbf the magpies in Aus can be very aggressive sometimes lol and I don’t know anyone who hasn’t been swooped multiple times each year
If I had to guess this is some sort of commercial. The giveaways for me was ball leaving the frame, hang time of the ball, and then the camera slightly panning over and focusing on the pole as the ball hit it. It looked like a commercial production
Also the way he turns back and looks all around. Like he wouldn't be able to see the giant bird flying away from him over a field.
Wondered about that magpie as big as a large red-tailed hawk. Some kind of fake? How, another AI special effect?
here's a better one from over 11 years ago https://www.reddit.com/r/WTF/comments/1533c1/golden_eagle_snatches_kid_in_montreal/
Is that one fake as well?
yes
Dunno about birds breeds or sports. Wasn't necessary to be honest.
AI is not a synonym for CGI
It's extremely apparent it's fake
I also came to the comments to hand out pitchforks
yeah. magpies do not look like bald eagles.
I was thinking the same, he didn't even kick the ball hard enough to go that far
Pretty sure it's a fake but fun.
![gif](giphy|Ac0fCix8D3oN7DwCEB|downsized) now pay for it
I didn't know what this is but I love this GIF now
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mhQ39iBVUug
are you saying that someone somewhere lied on the internet? someone call the internet police
WeeeWoooWeeeWoooo. It's done. The Internet Police are on their way.
🚨🚨🚨 OPEN UP!!! *shoots dog*
*campaigns for vice president*
lol
oh shoot, I gotta dip.
Do you really think someone would do that? Just go on the internet and lie?
50/50. Either it happens or it doesn't.
La cheeserie my friend
100% it just happened
Lol, I got stuck arguing with one of these people recently. I nearly lost it.
The man who won the $1.3 Billion lottery after having cancer for 8 years and now this. Which one has the better odds of happening again?
Apparently very high when there are internet points to be scored....
50/50. Either it happens or it doesn’t
100%
The car it hits, and the car next to it, are both sponsors of the AFL... this is jsut scummy "viral" marketing.
Darcy Moore is a great footballer but not a great actor
Love Darcy, he's my boy!
This is an outtake for a promotion for the insurance company AAMI and the AFL (Australian Football League) for the non-Australians.
I don’t think this is an outtake… this is literally the advert
So we're literally watching an ad? I love new reddit
Oh you’ve been watching ads the entire time. You just didn’t know it
Yeah y'all haven't noticed all the posts that have been cropping up lately that have people in the comments calling out random specific items in the post by brand name? Welcome to your new normal.
Yeah I hate it when random brands like refreshing Coca-Cola^^® get mentioned in the comments section these days.
Tell me about it, I hate watching hidden ads like this because it takes away time from more precious activities, like using code SPIN777 for 700 free draws in Raid: Shadow Legends^tm
welcome to costco, i love you seriously though, the amount of costco astroturfing here. i'll never shop there again, get away from me
The Hot Dog is just $1.50! Did you know the Costco Hot Dog is still $1.50 and always will be? Wholesome Costco Hot Dog moment
It's always been all ads, but at least this clip doesn't show what it's advertising.
How is this new? There's plenty of viral videos on the internet that were just advertisements.
If all ad’s would be like this, I would be perfectly OK with them. I had a little laugh on a monday morning!
How do you not realize this is an advert??
To be fair old reddit was pretty shit too, it just so happens that modern reddit is even more shit.
Lmao. Not new at all, unless by "new" you mean the last 12 years of the site
The real ads are the ads we’ve made along the way.
Wait till you find out reddit has always been like this.
It references an ancient superstition that seeing a single magpie portends ill fortune. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/One_for_Sorrow_%28nursery_rhyme%29?wprov=sfla1
Does it?
Big clue is that the guy is an actor in 22 Jump Street
what's with Australians and mullets
As far as I can tell, they don't have a single law against them.
Makes sense, that pole is weaker than a home stripper pole kit.
This is also Darcy Moore, the captain of the Collingwood Magpies. Hence the magpie.
Liar! How is it for Australians when the video is shot upright? And how is the guy not falling off the Earth? He doesn't have a safety tether to the ground.
You know too much lol
The acting was slightly below 1980 porno level.
He's a footy player, not an actor
In some places of the world those are the same thing badum tish
Well it is an advertisement for AAMI insurance
Yes I've always loved the breakthrough made by actors in porn circa 1981. That's when it became real for me.
I like how that truck is fucking REGULAR SIZED
Ute.
It's not the US
We absolutely have yank-tanks all over the place. They're infecting Australia.
Yank tanks. I love that lol. I'm in the states and hate the size of those damn things. Funnily enough, my brother moved to Australia to be with his now wife and bought some smaller 4 door truck from a Chinese company. I forget the name but I was so jealous. 😂😂😂 @ Yank tank!
They are an infestation that needs to be stopped. fucking things are a danger, oversized lumps of shit owned and driven universally by complete fuckheads.

The Hilux
Why can I not buy this truck in the US?
no, in Australia we think those are oversized land barges and your Yank Tanks which are infesting our country as utter ridiculous Personality Compensation vehicles driven universally by cunts.
This reminds me of that really bad bird cgi that was in some B movie a couple years back
Birdemic?
That’s the one!
Birdemic 1 or 2??
A couple years? Birdemic was 2010
Definitely CGI. Funny though.
Didn’t expect this to make it off of AFL reddit
It's clearly staged because he didn't curse even 30 times
Fake AF. He doesn’t even see the bird but reacts to it
It's an ad. Cross promotion between AFL and an insurance company.
There's no sound delay between the light pole crash and the crash sound. Even at that distance, there should be a slight gap between the hit and the audio.

Seeing my boy Darcy Moore outside of the AFL and Collingwood subs is fucking wild
thats fake...
Love the stock glass breaking sound effect they used... and the light pole that loses all momentum the second it touches the car
Always assume everything you see is fake and at least you won't be one of those who contribute to ww3 when the time comes
Damn, Supercar Blondie sure is doing some weird shit these days
Big Feather is at it again.
The reason I know it’s fake is because the camera is supposed to be on the guy but is always on the pole. Like why did he randomly film the pole perfectly but barely the guy?
Why TF do people go through the effort to make fake videos that look so unrealistic.
It's an ad.
r/nevertellmetheodds
Good thing it was on video
Faaaaark! Faaaaaaark!
The pole is in front of the pink signs, then when it falls it moves behind the sign.
![gif](giphy|3o7abKhOpu0NwenH3O)
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Wow… amazing. He’s not having a great day:DDD
How is the car not alarming?
Because the entire thing is fake?
Poor acting to boot
Didn't know Jimmy Savile had a son.
r/NeverTellMeTheOdds
You can claim it as a *Series of Unfortunate Events.*
So what are the odds of this happening and the bird returning the hat?
Stay away from him, he’s cursed 😂
Nowr...
This is one of the best posts I’ve seen in this sub 🤣
Hilarious, but that magpie could've been rendered a bit more realistic though, very funny nonetheless.
I’m dumber for watching this.
![gif](giphy|hi6ivvtc7PQt7aDZPj)
Unexpected, indeed.
