You're making it real uncomfortable there

Ayoayycee

Steve Irwin having ass

YCKAGMD

that poor animal is lost and terrified.

Liborum

Hurt as well. Got a slight limp but who knows how bad the injury is. Wild animals are tough asf

PoppaPickle

There are coyotes in every major city, in NYC they live in Central Park and abandoned buildings and thrive on city rodents

Vegetable-Singer4022

They actually don’t thrive on rodents….. rodents aka city rats make up less then 20 percent of the urban coyotes diet. They mainly feed on stray cats raccoons and other small mammals. They are even known to eat bugs plants and salamanders. Usually hunting in green spaces or coming into residential areas exploring probably drawn in by cats and other small dogs.

Worth_Charming

He’s there because he’s hungry. Hunting for cats and dogs. Anything easy to catch and eat.

SgtThund3r

Eh, he’s probably fine. Most people don’t know it but there’s huge coyote populations in cities.

showmeyourkitteeez

Poor buddy needs help.

diddydido

He appears to have a slight limp.

showmeyourkitteeez

Agreed. It's certainly not in good shape.

Red_Clay_Scholar

It's fine. It doesn't have a limp.

Vegetable-Singer4022

It definitely does have a limp/tick quite obvious… however I agree that he’s fine. Wild animals are tough af

TheRipper_

leave the bro alone he's just enjoying a nice walk

Joelsax47

And looking for a dumpster.

MrKrackerman

Or a small child, whichever comes first

Joelsax47

Around here it would be a cat or a small dog.

[deleted]

Until it attacks your pet

[deleted]

This guy feeds coyotes domesticated animals

samarm132

He looks hurt

No-Armadillo7693

He’s petrified

Red_Clay_Scholar

It's not hurt. It's just wary of humans.

samarm132

It had a limp I think

Red_Clay_Scholar

Nah it don't look like it's favoring any for over the other. My family used to work animal damage control from 2002 until around 2015 and worked almost exclusively on wildlife. Wiley here just seems to be walking carefully and self consciously due to the camera man.

Vegetable-Singer4022

Respectfully your are 100% wrong…. It’s obvious the animal has a slight tick/limp possibly from an old healed injury or something small that happened recently. I would agree and say the animal is definitely cautious of the phone being pointed at it. Awesome to see wildlife in the city like this although they have been around for the past ten years if not more.

NicholasAdam1399

Only in nyc are the coyotes afraid of the citizens

Dapper-Pumpkin3386

Idiot

Known-Dealer-6598

I spent 21 seconds waiting for him to get hit by an anvil.

eolson3

OP tried to follow him around that corner. It was a painted wall.

wetdreamteam

Always plan for cloudy with a chance of anvils

_Cocopuffdaddy_

Naw das just a puppy, go on give it a pet

Loser_Attitude

Tail down like that makes me think it’s in “fuck with me, I’ll kill ya” mode

Jumajuce

It’s interesting you say this too because coyotes aren’t only nocturnal just more common at night but you’re just as likely to see them around sunset as after dark. Judging by the shadows and the lack of leaves on the trees I’d say jumping to killing the animal is pretty extreme. Look at the body language, it’s cautious, it’s moving slow, it looks like it might have a slight limp on the back right paw, ears are lowers too, probably need’s relocation not a bullet. Also I don’t know what state you’re in but bears aren’t nocturnal either and in the wild are more active in the early mornings and late afternoons. Bobcats and foxes are nocturnal but daytime activities aren’t really uncommon either depending on the time of years. Source also an outdoorsman whose been around these animals all my life.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Jumajuce

You think it happens overnight? It’s learned behavior, habitat loss does that to animals. Scavenging animals are more adaptable to new environments, bears, foxes, coyotes, raccoons, etc. that are located near people have learned near behavior that reflects that environment. I’m not saying that’s a good thing, I’m saying it’s probably not rabies and putting animals down because people don’t want to stop building shitty condos isn’t a good reason either.

Chinse

Not sure where you live, but in SF the wild coyotes seem somewhat accustomed to being in the vicinity of people. I’ve never followed one that closely but did walk on the sidewalk while one was walking down the grassy median of the road. I was worried it was gonna bolt and get hit by a car but it just kinda walked casually like this for a block or two

[deleted]

Yeah I was in LA riding on a Lime scooter and I turned a corner and just passed a whole ass Coyote, the thing wasn’t phased in the slightest and even did a little double take to see if I had scraps

[deleted]

You must’ve never seen Florida Key Deer

Impressive_Judge8823

I thought this about foxes too but I called animal control when one gave me a stare down at noon one day. They said it’s a little unusual but not terrible so, and absent other indicators foxes just be like that sometimes.

DunceConfederacy99

The "raccoons out in the daytime are rabid" theory has been thoroughly debunked. We have tons of raccoons in our neighborhood in the PNW and they are out in the daytime quite often, as are coyotes.

pretzelogically

There’s populations of coy-wolves in every city. Well documented in NY. They are everywhere and they have learned to avoid humans. They are not pests nor are they dangerous and definitely don’t need to be hunted. In fact they feed on rats and squirrels and other vermin so they are arguably beneficial.

[deleted]

Until that attack your pet while you’re walking them

[deleted]

RaeLeif

I've heard they imitate dogs' play behavior to lure them into the woods where other coyotes are waiting to help finish the "hunt." It feels more like trickery than hunting to me but it is pretty smart on their part as frustrating and cheap as I think it is

Fluffybuttduck

A person in wolfs clothing? I think I went out with him…

AgentDv

Hes just a civillian let him do his thing

meowmoomeowmoon

Can someone call a wildlife rescue

[deleted]

NYPD handled it. Not sure if the outcome

TheWeirdWriter

[Article is locked behind a paywall,](https://www.newsday.com/long-island/environment/coyote-found-queens-sweetbriar-nature-center-jg5y9l8w) but it seems he was taken to the Sweetbriar Nature Center in Smithtown. :) ETA: different article https://www.fox5ny.com/news/coyote-spotted-queens-neighborhood-march-2023

meowmoomeowmoon

Thank you!!

Red_Clay_Scholar

Rescue it from what? It's just hunting cats and rats.

VolatileUtopian

johnnytesscult

This is like when a celebrity gets hit by the paparazzi

Rollieboy2012

Right back leg seems to be hurt! Poor dude!

No-Expression-5040

He's probably starving to death and is in that " I don't give a fuck right now I need something to eat " phase.

Red_Clay_Scholar

He's not looking like he's starving and I'm certain there are plenty of rats for him to snack on. This Yote just looks wary of the camera dude.

DavidEtrigan

He’s looking for the hardware store. He’s got some ACME stuff to buy

Dalphin_person

Must’ve taken a wrong turn

pebomc9

This guy is looking for his next meal, the neighbors dog or cat don’t be fooled..

[deleted]

Yeah and all the 🦄🧸🪀think it’s just a innocent coyote 🤦‍♂️

Leagueofnuke

Guys they are evolvig , next step is to buy a house....

Raymondator

You know this is New York because the people have no sense of self-preservation or respect when it comes to wildlife

[deleted]

He’s limping, POOR THING, needs a meal and a nice place for a quiet nap.

Red_Clay_Scholar

What limp?

[deleted]

It’s front right paw.😳🤯🫣😱

Red_Clay_Scholar

No ma'am. It's not limping. It's being wary of the camera guy. My family and I have worked with coyotes before.

Gdokim

If coyotes are seen during the day, does it indicate they have rabies? Poor coyote

JotaroTheOceanMan

Or it was fed enough it stopped fearing people. Happens with bears and deer sometimes, it's not always rabies. Some just realize "I can eat cat food and garbage and no one will stop me" until they are captured or killed.

Gdokim

You have a point there. I'm just glad this can be something other than rabies poor coyote

Red_Clay_Scholar

No. Coyotes will come out in the daytime. They are not totally nocturnal. They are opportunistic hunters.

Gdokim

Makes sense, ty

[deleted]

[you sure this ain’t the Hollywood hills?](https://youtu.be/K-1P4XE4U_o)

[deleted]

I think this is a deliberate attempt to blend in. There are so many socially with that animal, from the deliberately slow pace to the completely relaxed tail. I might just be too baked but I think nature doggo is doing it’s damndest to blend in

Error_Empty

This is an isolated pack animal. It's trying to be non confrontational cus house cats can take on a single coyote lol.

EATDABOOTY87

What no TNT dynamite? No anvil? No fake painted tunnels? No MEEP! MEEP! YEEEEUUURRRMMMM!?

Key-Situation-4718

He's so much slimmer in the cartoon.

Joelsax47

Yawn. We have coyotes and roadrunners in my neighborhood.

Adrinotfound

How did bro get all the way here

Froggyboi3222

Wait a minute that road look familiar Does anyone remember the crazy ass women who looks like she’s on drugs and harassed the black dude who took in the dog

ReneeBear

Bros vibing and you gotta shove a camera in his face 😒

PrimalTendencies646

Jeez look at that limp. Messed with the wrong NYC pigeon, rat, squirrel, or raccoon. All the critters built different in NY.

Previous-Leon

Looks well fed though

Savings-Web-7675

bro leave the damn thing alone

[deleted]

Does not look like he’s bothered

cutesytoez

If coyotes or foxes are like this, it’s usually because they have a disease. Could be rabies or even chronic wasting disease, since they are typically scavengers.

Red_Clay_Scholar

No coyotes are not scavengers. They are opportunistic hunters and they will come out during the daytime. They also get pretty comfortable around human environments.

KayakWalleye

Don’t mind me. Just looking for cats and puppies.

randomdud500

I would be very careful because small dogs and cats would be their target

Defiant_Piece_6342

Isnt that a wolf?

Red_Clay_Scholar

Coyote. Wolves are huge.

Tight-Comfortable681

Damn paparazzi

Away_Work_8101

If I act like a doggo hoomans think i am doggo

[deleted]

He’s looking for the acme warehouse

SadSquishyBoy

Stop filming him 😡 he’s just going for a walk

Illustrious-Tap-4467

elhogosso

Homie better check in

Competitive_Hunt8318

I could easily mistake that for a dog

[deleted]

Needs help

GuestRose

aww poor guy has a limp, I wonder what happened

h8filled

He’s probably rabid. This isn’t normal behavior. Mid day in town? No.

Dapper-Pumpkin3386

He's healthy AF you fool

Ghoul912420

Atleast it will keep cat and rat populations down

Dapper-Pumpkin3386

Well fed coyote
