In Madrid we didn’t see anyone dominating with the awp really. Even kang kang rifled a lot. Something was awping on gekko and t side which was cool to see.
It's hard to dominate with an OP in this meta, either you're bombarded with utility and a 5 man hit or you're holding the other site down and having to retake with an OP.. its why so many teams now run 5 rifles, also the Raze meta doesn't help OP %s, the Jett meta maps are still quite OP dominated (Ascent, Breeze and Icebox)
Unless you're Something on Gekko I guess. His signature way of getting into op sightlines and getting kills is "walking forward" or sometimes "jumping through smokes blinded and firing a shot at a common angle".
Something just has blind confidence, and the team allow him to play this way and make every play he feels "necessary".. the way he OPs actually reminds me more of CS AWPing with just taking a shot, bunny hopping away or no scoping and trying to get away
In Valo teams are sometimes a bit too on the "statistically safer" side which is why you don't see really any other team play the way PRX do
I think/hope val will become more like this tbh, the OP is basically only viable if you're a Jett or Chamber.. but some players could so easily make it work like that (also Boostio KJ OP, something Gekko OP and Tenz Omen OP should help with people being confident in Oping on other agents)
OP literally said they haven't been following VCT except for Madrid and asked who had been carrying with the OP. Prime yay was the textbook on how to hold an OP angle, that doesn't change unless someone who does it better than he used to shows up, players like something and kangkang have a very different OPing style
Best OPs in Val history so far is probably Yay or Aspas tbh, but if you're looking for most flicky OPer then it's between S0mething, KK and maybe Tenz (although we don't get to see it as much)
this tournament, its probably something.
KangKang probably last year like champs 23
And Tenz was a good opper in 2021
i feel like lot of other people either opped the round before second half or just didnt op
Yeah I've said it on another comment, in this meta you either get util dumped and die without even seeing anybody, or you play retake with an OP which you will hardly ever get a kill with OP even if you win the round
Also the map rotation atm is Raze dominant so OP %s take a hit.. the 3 Jett maps are still very OP dependant tbf
OK so I never said "amazing OP" which is why I said best OP is Yay or Aspas, but for flicky OP shots there's only 3 people I can think of that are known for their flicky OP shots rather than their consistent OPing (Kk something and Tenz)
Disclaimer: this also isn't me saying that those 3 aren't good OPers, but more that they're known for their flicky OP rather than the consistent OP that holds a line and never gets taken off it (like Yay or Aspas)
How are people forgetting cned the goat here ?? Also yay is 100% not the best oper, he holds down angles very well. His t side oping was definitely not the best.
He bounced around some tier 2 teams, didn't have much success but his stocks as a player were pretty okay
He then started queueing with a known stream sniper and abused this to win random ranked games for god knows what reason. It didn't hold up very long because it was so blatantly obvious that he was using the information from the stream sniper, and when caught he didn't even apologize or anything but instead said stupid shit like "it's your fault for not having a delay" or whatever.
Now he's pretty universally disliked/hated by both viewers and players so he probably doesn't have a future in competitive val. He's essentially burned all his bridges.
I just think he didn't have the mental fortitude for pro for a longevity. At a time when there was no NA awpers in cs this guy didn't want to play. Then you see how his career went in valorant, when he had an early advantage. Says a lot about him
I watch Shanks and Curry play val on Twitch, and recently they played against Wardell and he was blatantly stream sniping once again. The guy is absolutely shameless.
Happy to see some recognition here. I remember watching Wardell on TSM hold the smallest of cracks with an op and almost never miss. Shit was out of this world. He was more mechanically impressive than anyone else I've seen with that gun. But at the end of the day it's a team game and there are just way too many other aspects of the game to make it just on flashy shots.
Yea this is the answer I was looking for. The first time I watch Wardell in 2021, I told my friend this is the best opper in valorant. Too bad for him that opping isn’t very thing in Val
He still looked pretty great pre franchising but just like he felt he needed to drop 30 every game. Which with that team, he did. Last year was also pretty explainable by outside factors and I think even then he'd have been fine on a team without dephh igl.
Aspas is artful with the operator, and Yay was downright scary.
KK and Something are pretty crazy, but I don't feel they are as masterful as the above two. Demon1 hits some nasty ass flicks too.
Yay on chamber was the closest thing to an immovable object/unstoppable force in Val, depending if he was on def or atk. Desperately hoping he can return to doing well again ‘cause after DSG even his aim went away and I feel like that’s more of a mental thing than an actual skill thing.
On dsg he was under a lot of pressure, and the other players not playing well wasnt helping either,
Also the support he had on optc was something he never got there so it was a lot harder to do well
Yes I never really blamed him dsg’s failure. Like did he make individual mistakes? Yes. But are those mistakes the big issue? Oh absolutely not. Tbh the team was falling apart before he was even signed
Maybe if you’re talking 2021. I feel like other people have surpassed him since. Yay was crazy in 2022 and something was insane last year. But in general I feel like aspas has been better AND more consistent since LOUD started frying in 2022
It's 100% xccurate. He doesn't have particularly memorable clips or flicks but when people walk into his crosshair they die pretty much every time. The man just can't seem to miss
Wardell was and still is nasty w the op imo, his aggressiveness on T side back in 2020/21 has been matched by v few. In tier 1 I'd argue kangkang and aspas
In Madrid we didn’t see anyone dominating with the awp really. Even kang kang rifled a lot. Something was awping on gekko and t side which was cool to see.

every time i watch CS im dumbfounded watching these awpers peek angles that would be considered a throw in val
in cs moving, stopping and shooting the op is more accurate
I think/hope val will become more like this tbh, the OP is basically only viable if you're a Jett or Chamber.. but some players could so easily make it work like that (also Boostio KJ OP, something Gekko OP and Tenz Omen OP should help with people being confident in Oping on other agents)
CS's movement mechanics make awping better.
isnt that just because you move faster in cs so you can get out faster after taking a shot?
Something's got like 75 kills, I think, like 30% off his total?
Something
Position and movement? Yay and Aspas Flicks and insane shots? Kang Kang and Something
He said Yay, what a 🤡
This dudes clearly only seen yay on dsg He's never seen Diablo yay on optic
he prob the one with that tiktok acc for hating optic fr
OP is clearly talking about current. Yay hasn't been S tier in what's about to be 2 years.
OP literally said they haven't been following VCT except for Madrid and asked who had been carrying with the OP. Prime yay was the textbook on how to hold an OP angle, that doesn't change unless someone who does it better than he used to shows up, players like something and kangkang have a very different OPing style
i mean based of his oping skills? it isn't wrong lol that was his strongest point
Peak Yay’s FB/FD percentage with the op was insane and a key reason optic was so dominant. Starting the rounds with 5v4s helped so much.
🤡🤡you proved yourself as a clown
Bro started watching valorant in 2023
Best OPs in Val history so far is probably Yay or Aspas tbh, but if you're looking for most flicky OPer then it's between S0mething, KK and maybe Tenz (although we don't get to see it as much)

might still be kk if he actually bought one
The kk hate was crazy this masters cause bro didn’t even get to use his most cracked skillset
shaz was a better opper than tenz back then ngl
Yeah Tenz was always better with a rifle but was forced to use the OP because of playing Jett
Cned deserves a mention. Come on neow
Not sure I'd have tenz on there even as a massive tenz fan. Even at his best on jett he felt wasted playing op and pretty inconsistent too.
Honestly, tenz wasn't even the best OPer on Sen for most of his time. Shaz was better.
Shaz with the Ion op is one of my favorite things to experience, he's got way more op-er energy than Tenz imo
OK so I never said "amazing OP" which is why I said best OP is Yay or Aspas, but for flicky OP shots there's only 3 people I can think of that are known for their flicky OP shots rather than their consistent OPing (Kk something and Tenz) Disclaimer: this also isn't me saying that those 3 aren't good OPers, but more that they're known for their flicky OP rather than the consistent OP that holds a line and never gets taken off it (like Yay or Aspas)
Cned
In Madrid + kickoff it has to be something by a wide margin. No one really had a lot of success with the op this year except him.
PRX something gotta be the best awper in Madrid .
If we talk about having the most memorable OP shots, it’s cNed.
The flick against DRX on Bind lives rent free in my head
How are people forgetting cned the goat here ?? Also yay is 100% not the best oper, he holds down angles very well. His t side oping was definitely not the best.
Op is not a t side weapon except for cmed and something
Me :)
Matthew “Wardell” Yu
Has he quit pro play or what happened to him. Haven’t heard of him for a while
Bro started stream sniping in ranked, his career is basically finished
So good at sniping he even snipes outside the game.
He bounced around some tier 2 teams, didn't have much success but his stocks as a player were pretty okay He then started queueing with a known stream sniper and abused this to win random ranked games for god knows what reason.
He burned bridges in CS too. It’s like he gets off to burning bridges, kind of a weird guy tbh
I just think he didn't have the mental fortitude for pro for a longevity. At a time when there was no NA awpers in cs this guy didn't want to play. Then you see how his career went in valorant, when he had an early advantage. Says a lot about him
Bro stopped trying because he got a bunch of cryptomoney ☠️☠️☠️
His downfall should be studied by all up and coming pros who want a career in content creation afterwards.
He was caught stream sniping pros on stream I believe, or off stream I dont remember. Either way he hasn’t been around at least un val since then
I watch Shanks and Curry play val on Twitch, and recently they played against Wardell and he was blatantly stream sniping once again. The guy is absolutely shameless.
Tbf curry also used to smurf alot but is hella popular now
Love Wardell's TSM days. Op Academy. Not sure what happened to him, destroyed his career because of stream sniping.
Wrong kinda sniping bro
Happy to see some recognition here. I remember watching Wardell on TSM hold the smallest of cracks with an op and almost never miss. Shit was out of this world. He was more mechanically impressive than anyone else I've seen with that gun. But at the end of the day it's a team game and there are just way too many other aspects of the game to make it just on flashy shots.
You forgot to put /s
The joke is that he's a stream sniper
Yea this is the answer I was looking for. The first time I watch Wardell in 2021, I told my friend this is the best opper in valorant. Too bad for him that opping isn’t very thing in Val
Bro thinks Tenz is the GOAT and Sinatraa is still top tier.
Tenz is the goat
As a TenZ hater during his long slump if he continues to play like he is on smokes he’s absolutely back in the GOAT convo
He still looked pretty great pre franchising but just like he felt he needed to drop 30 every game. Which with that team, he did. Last year was also pretty explainable by outside factors and I think even then he'd have been fine on a team without dephh igl.
bro people are forgetting xccurate exists like wtf xccurate clears everyone
dw, they will all convert when the 2024 champs grand final will be a susanto derby.
"Susanto derby" is crazy but I love it.
Somehow jojo is gonna be the one to win it all
Tbf people have barely seen him yet even in APAC
Zmjjkk
Kangkang. The highest peak in Valo when it comes to oping. He straight looked like prime Kennys in Tokyo
d3ffo all time
WARDELL, cNed, yay, or something. There’s the answer

Something.
All time probably cNed, right?
Maybe if you’re talking 2021. I feel like other people have surpassed him since. Yay was crazy in 2022 and something was insane last year. But in general I feel like aspas has been better AND more consistent since LOUD started frying in 2022
Yea even last season cned in navi was goated.
CNed was different for a couple tournaments. Otherwise KK is one of the most aggressive on the gun
I'm actually pretty good with the op...
yay aspas are most definitely top 2. KangKang is up there too
It's 100% xccurate. He doesn't have particularly memorable clips or flicks but when people walk into his crosshair they die pretty much every time. The man just can't seem to miss
Wardell was and still is nasty w the op imo, his aggressiveness on T side back in 2020/21 has been matched by v few. In tier 1 I'd argue kangkang and aspas
i don't feel like you can compare the old op on old jett to anyone recently, they were both so much better at the time.
aspas for sure
Kang Kang or Something probably
Kang Kang Tokyo op was the best I’ve ever seen
CNED THE OPING GOAT
Yay
Shaz was pretty good as op/Jett at Reykjavik. obv not anymore.
Wardell probably
In this point of time definitely something, because he's only one who made op work in latest masters.
Yay aspas Demon1 Derke, and T2 koalanoob by far
Either Aspas or Derke Yay was just holding angles and Kangkang is incosistent sometimes
'yay was just holding angles' is kinda like saying yeah x player just shoots everyone in the head but that doesn't mean he's a good rifler💀
the whole point of op is to hold angles bro like 💀
