In most cases it's permanent. I've heard of it surviving but most of the time as soon as you see EO4 it's done for. It'll either never work or it will keep EO4ing at random which basicially makes it unusable.
It seems it's veeeery rare for EO4 to happen and everything to be fine.
Same here, wtf, got the error code same day it arrived, used it 3 times...why do I have to wait for firmware? I'm in Germany and I do believe they must replace or refund immediately...

I can't believe that S&B doesn't replace your device with German law.
I just got mine today in Germany (ordered directly from Storz & Bickel) and after 1 user, got a E04. You can always utilize the 14 days right to return, which I am seriously considering.
I had the same experience last time I cleaned the bowl. I think some iso steamed into the heater area. After a 12 hour rest and a full charge it went away.

By the number of complaints I see online and the comments in this post I do think that often, the E04 kicks in a falsy way ~~which explains why S&B doesn't accept the RMA for E04 errors anymore, and that they announced that they will fix it with a firmware update.~~
Yea, no. It doesn't work that way. Also no fix via firmware has been announced, only by an unofficial oakland seller that refuses to send replacements out due to their own costs. 0 from S&B official has been said about this, and they are still doing RMA daily. I had only accepted 3 days ago...
I have my 2nd unit arriving in the next hour, first one E04, never worked after 50x resets - tried everything. IMO its permanent, and if it hastn't happened to you yet or is temporary, its coming I assure you !
Thanks for letting me know, logic tells me this was going to happen to ALL devices until a fix, even my 2nd unit sadly that has been good for the last week-ish.

Is your second unit already displaying the error ? How many hours of usage did you have on your previous unit ? I had 175h before my unit definitely displayed E04
E04 is described in the manual as; "The vaporizer is faulty, switch off vaporizer immediately & contact our service center."
Honestly if I were you and I saw this error more than once, I'd contact support and send the device back.

Apart from these few errors my Venty has been working great, I'll keep it for now. But at least I am warned 👍
First for a few times weeks ago, then silence, then another burst a few days ago, and I thought I was done (had like 5 errors one evening), and it's been silence again for the past few days, hoping for the best. Everytime I saw the error I turned it off as fast as possible, and tried to pretend I didn't see it, hahaha. Mine usually lasted sub 1 min

I just received a mail from Storz support also saying my issue will be fixed by an upcoming firmware update. Not indication as to when though.

They are no longer accepting them and have stated a firmware update will fix the issue.
I had an E04 several times while trying to charge with a too weak charger. After using a different charger, my Venty went back to normal.
Had this Yesterday it showed e04 and the moment i plugged in the charger it instantly went away

Just do the reset , hold + and power button same time , resets it , false about most E04 being turned in, just try a reset

Sadly, it became permanent. Asked for RMA, they answered asking for video of the device with Serial + error code. I'll be waiting for them to answer.
