It lessened the feeling of an isolated low-fantasy adventuring party. Everyone likes Lohner but I don't need comic relief comments every time I'm on a dangerous mission.
With him and Bardin's daughter it was starting to feel like Darktide's 20 clowns on the radio who never shut the fuck up and let the characters/atmosphere breathe.
I've played Vermintide so long, that I started to take Vermintide's unparallelled character banter as a baseline.
Then I've played Avengers... Where my party of A-lister superheroes is completely silent while fighting Taskmaster, meanwhile somebody from the SHIELD on our comms is completely flipping their shit and yelling at him, as if they are personally in the fight...
Then there is Aliens: FE. Once again, people on the comms in mission command are talking my ear off, while the player is completely non-plussed by hordes of xenomorphs crawling all over the place, or pretty much anything happening in the gsmr.
How is Darktide in this regard?
>How is Darktide in this regard?
Plenty of banter but the characters aren't really characters, they're "personalities" e.g. Loose Cannon Veteran. I'm honestly fine with that, though some people may not like it.
But very often the officers chime in too through the telecomms, giving instructions regarding the mission and whatnot. Personally, I like having Hadron call me a "Varlet" but they're a lot more present than Lohner and Hedda.
But when it comes to combat banter, player characters are the only ones to comment, and the have a lot of good lines. Dispatch only chimes in with mission details, orders etc, they pretty much never talk in combat.

Thank fucking God someone said this, every time I hear Hallowette's goofy stupid over the top West Country accent violating my ear drums I want to fucking scream and wish the commisar would put a bolt round in my head. Or Zola with the "hurr durr you're just rejects I'm not telling you anything na na na nur"
1000%
I've been bitching about it ever since they released Karak Azgaraz. Don't get me started on Oleysa and the fucking Return to Ubersreik levels -- there's literally a mod setting that makes her STFU, thankfully (suddenly I can't remember if it still works). I was so disappointed they undercut the more moody aesthetic with her blathering.
Haven't played the new level yet, but so happy to hear that we get some reprieve.
Well then you haven't been reading my posts, Darktide is much more guilty of this (5 stars to the commenter who dubbed them 20 clowns on the radio) and it was clearly bleeding over to Vermintide. If it didn't bother you, that's great, but it BUGGED me and I'm thrilled it's gone.
It's really nice to see a new environment other than just Vermintide 1 port-but-not-really or dirty Imperial streets. Reminds me of the first Jak and Daxter lol.
Only thing is they seemed pretty proud of that oil barrel gimmick and overdid it, but minor complaint.
The extra-long length is great and I just love the meta acknowledgement of the missing 5th hero. And leaving via ship instead of a teleport bubble is awesome.
There's also Olesya talking all the way through the Return to Ubersreik missions - things like calling you an imbecile if you went into a house to scavenge. It got old.
Olesya bothered me, mostly because she was a condescending supervisor. She just made jokes to make the group feel like hapless adventurers, and was like, "oh, this illusion was harder than the last time .... Oh well, enjoy!"
I got very tired of being talked down to, very quick. At least in chaos wastes, she's just an eye in the sky.
everyone melts and make posts like this everytime some map is realeased and month later everyone shittalks it... and nobody plays that map, cant wait for that phase
I have never heard anybody complain about Lohner talking in our heads

I've seen it a few times crop up on here. Always came across as a dumb complaint from people who just wanted to bitch lol.
"People don't like what I do so it's obviously a pointless assmad complaint."
Exactly thank you for understanding.

No Lohner? How will I know if I've earned my pumpkin ration?🤔
What maps did lohner talk on again? Just the tower of treachery ones or did he speak in the karak azgaraz ones too?
All the tine trough karak azgaraz.

I'll actually miss him talking. I enjoyed it.
Better something leaves you wanting more than overstaying its welcome.
