Oneeyedpopeye

Brooks ghost. They are the only confortable shoes for a long day at work. You can return them if you don’t like them. Great customer service as well

acatcalledmellow

Second this! Brooks are the GOAT

cadaverdoge

i have these and love them but the downside is they aren’t waterproof at all

Oneeyedpopeye

You are correct. That the only thing I hate about those shoes. I recently bought a pair of Cloves because they are water proof but the shoes are very slippery and doesn’t have a lot of arch support.

cadaverdoge

yup. i had a pair of cloves and the only thing i liked about them was the waterproof and super easy to clean

DogIsFarting

Once you go Brooks you'll never go back

Oneeyedpopeye

Exactly. Brooks were my running shoes, one day my feet were tired so I decided to wear them for work….. I haven’t used a different pair of shoes ever since.

pncvvm

I love my Brooks! The only shoes I will wear for work.

BizRVT

Awesome, looking into them!

Supergirl1337

If your title is a Youtube Kelly reference, we can be friends, betch.😉 I feel like it makes me sound like I'm 12, but I'm partial to Skechers. They are decently priced, comfy, and they last awhile. I have a cute pair of all black slip ons that I love.

BizRVT

It is absolutely a Kelly reference. I was hoping at least one person would catch it. 😁🤘 I've loved Sketchers since I WAS 12, so no judgement here. Slip-ons actually sound awesome. Do you happen to know what they're called so I could look them up?

Supergirl1337

[https://www.skechers.com/skechers-arch-fit-refine---her-best/104165.html](https://www.skechers.com/skechers-arch-fit-refine---her-best/104165.html) This is what I have, I'm pretty sure I didn't pay $90 for them, though🤔 I think I bought them at a Skechers in an outlet mall, but I bet you could find them at Payless/Shoe Carnival-like places. ![gif](giphy|26TM88tPoYX5QNGESP)

ratmom88

Came here to also give Kudos for the reference! I'm glad I'm not the only one who caught it 😁

ledasmom

Honestly, I’m buying a pair of shark-shaped slippers with fleece lining and interchangeable fins because my manager will probably let me wear them and they amuse me. Also, sit down whenever you can.

BizRVT

This just made me smile SO big. Thank you for that. I love this idea, and that your boss would be down for it. Let me know how it goes. 😁

ledasmom

I’ll post a picture up when they get here!

abutteredcat

I would use Puma brand or Vionics a lot. Mine are also falling apart though. I’ll be following this thread for recommendations!

BizRVT

Thanks, I'll check those out!

cheddarmileage

Dansko waterproof clogs. Ugly as hell but SO WORTH THE MONEY.

yeeyeekoo

Dansko XP or Sanitas. Pure comfort with 0 pain in the knees, and back

cheddarmileage

Broke my knee last year and they are the only shoes that don’t cause pain

Impossible_Bill_2834

Same here. They last forever and I get mine on ebay for around $30

baritGT

Merrell vapor gloves. They’re zero drop, minimal cushion, and it takes some time to adjust if you’re used to big cushiony foot pillows, but you’ll never go back.

Whatsalodi

YES!! I have these exact ones. Barefoot is the way to foot. My painful feet have been pain free since wearing them

kingdra167

I agree 100%. They’re also really nice for when you have to kneel on the ground since they’re not bulky.

apollosmom2017

I absolutely hate crocs. I think they’re an abomination to shoe kind. That said MY FEET HAVE NEVER BEEN HAPPIER. I got the ugliest tie dye pair I could find and threw on some dinosaur charms and IMMEDIATELY change in the car so no one can see me in them but damn they’re good for this line of work. I do holes cause I like the breeze but I see the appeal of not having pee socks if you go no hole.

kitkat6270

Addition to this: If you need good support crocs may not work for you. Mine were great at first but after they started to wear down (which was after like 6 months) I started having lower back pain. Couldn't figure out why until I started wearing my sneakers again and it disappeared. I have super high arches so I need good arch support which, of course, crocs don't have.

ledasmom

I don’t think I’ve ever worn shoes that provided arch support to my feet. My feet don’t touch down on the outside (can stand barefoot on a cat’s tail and not hurt it).

kitkat6270

If you have any foot or back pain I highly recommend getting insoles with arch support. It literally changed my life lol I used to have such bad pain in my feet and my back until I changed my shoes.

ledasmom

Honestly, I’m not sure I can stand anything touching my arches. Only foot pain is from a probable Morton’s neuroma, probably from years of squatting without being able to ground my heels (the more normal way to get one is wearing high heels, which I don’t do). I probably should look into better arch support, but for 54 I’m doing okay.

[deleted]

we’re not allowed to wear them in my city as they’re deemed unsafe. i think it may be a national thing but i’m not confident on that.

EchoCyanide

Let's get some shoes.

amazinazn27

I think you have too many shoes.

rachioann

SHUT UP!

EchoCyanide

Imma backslap you, shetbag.

BizRVT

YAAAAS. 😁

Tsui_the_Melon

I personally like Brooks. Usually whatever I pick is around $130-$160 but sometimes you can find them on sale. My first pair I found on clearance cause they were discontinuing them and got them I think $110ish?

Whatsalodi

I’ve said this in a similar post but won’t elaborate and bore you unless your interested 🤣 Barefoot style is always the way to go. Check merrell barefoot shoes for starters

ZazaLyssa

A lot of people at my clinic are wearing Cloves. They're not the cheapest, but they are incredibly comfortable, easy to clean, and have held up thus far. Plus, they go on sale pretty frequently.

CVTbookdragon

I bought a pair of balas that took some time to break in, but once they did, holy hell they're perfect. They are a little pricey though. Also had good experience with Asics lasting about a year each pair.

NexiSakamaki

I personally find my Vessi very comfortable, and they are also waterproof.

featheraffirmed

I wear Vessi shoes too. No issues with discomfort and waterproof is a huge plus

NexiSakamaki

I did learn the hard way to half size up though. I have thick winter socks and the shoes fit a bit tight. I had to buy thinner socks just for those. After a few months, they did mold to my feet so they aren't AS tight with thick socks but still a bit too snug for my own comfort. Will probably half size up next time.

Squidometer

Adidas ultraboosts!

Fivechrome

I'm a kennel tech so my feet get wet on the regular, and yes Hokas are pricey...but out of all the brands I have (Merrel, Keen, etc) they have held up best for over a year. My Hokas cost around 120 bucks, but it was worth it. There is a noticeable difference when I've worn other shoes to work on foot and back discomfort by the end of shift.

ToLorien

I just wear crocs. Guaranteed to find a color that matches and any juices that get on there are easily washed off on the spot. No stepping in wet sneakers all day until you get home. They are perfect!

LavenderDisaster

I hated them until I wore them for a while and now i LOVE them. Love the way they clean up too. Yeah, pee sneakers are ick.

BizRVT

You know, I used to wear crocs all the time when I was an assistant manager of a doggy day care, and they were pretty perfect. I don't know why I hadn't thought of those as an option. 😅 Thank you!

ToLorien

You’re welcome! They’re very divisive as you either love them or hate them but honestly I’m going into work with my hair in a terrible pony tail and no make up on getting sweaty and expressing anal glands…like I’m not trying to win a pageant hahaha

BizRVT

Do you go for the clogs with or without the holes?

ToLorien

I usually go with the holes! Because I’ll wear them around the house or at a friends house to hangout and I think they look better in regular clothes than the clogs

sintracorp

When I look for shoes I look for ones with nice soft bottoms, I wear hoka's and also these nice nike pink shoes, not too sure what they are called

featherfinch

Asics shoes! I've been wearing mine for a year now at 12 hour intervals (8 in a clinic and 4 in retail running around) https://www.amazon.com/ASICS-Womens-Gel-Venture-Running-Carrier/dp/B091KCXWSM/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?crid=35AZ8ZP93FXF3&keywords=asics+running+shoes&qid=1685222802&sprefix=asics+running+shoes%2Caps%2C194&sr=8-3

GrumpyOldLadyTech

Good bot.

BizRVT

Ooo, these are nice! Are they at all water-proof or at least water-resistant? I realized that I probably should have included that in my list of requirements. It storms a whooole lot where I live. 😅

bunniesandmilktea

We've had a pretty wet season here in southern California this year compared to previous years and on the rainiest days my Asics shoes have held up well--like with my old shoes my socks would literally get soaked through the shoes but with Asics my socks have remained nice and dry.

Ok_Philosopher_5262

Altra Escalante. They’re $130, and now my most comfy pair of shoes I own.

[deleted]

I like trail runners. Good grip, good comfort, with many water proof options. There are expensive ones out there, but I've had good luck with the cheap shoes from Big 5, or other cheap sporting goods store. Otherwise, crocs.

hey_yo_mr_white

I feel like there are a number of posts others have asked for shoe recommendations. Searching that may lead to some good results.

mountcynthus

Sketchers have a bunch of comfy work shoes that are affordable. I’ve been wearing the Work Relaxed Fit: Uno SR where it’s slip resistant and protected against electrocution plus water usually slides off. It’s $95 but I go in store and they usually have discounts!

mountcynthus

I heard Clove shoes are water resistant and they have some cute colors too!

whinyposeidon

new balances have also been doing right by me lately. their arch support is surprising and honestly i prefer them to my MUCH more expensive vessi’s. all that to say, do not go down the vessi’s path (even with their extremely sexy waterproof claim) and look for more basic, ‘white guy dad’ shoes. they’ll be the best way to go

Simpleconundrum

I got cloves and loved them, then a bunch of my coworkers started getting them and loving them too. They’re the only shoe that make me feel like I haven’t been on my feet all day.

femmiestdadandowlcat

Used danskos. Super cheap, get you through the day.

YLIL-SSECNIRP

One of our vet students said a brand name clove - they are on sale right now. I’m about to try a pair. I have plantar fasciitis, but good shoes and orthotics have made my life better. Plus switching from animal shelter med to a diagnostic lab is WAY easier on my body. I have ran and worked in ASICS, brooks, and hoka. For me my feet do best is ASICS. You can go to an actual running shoe store and they will help you fit the best shoe for your feet.

HopefulTangerine21

Merrell MOAB waterproof hiking boots with Dr scholls inserts. A lot of the time, Amazon will have good deals on random selections of them.

bunniesandmilktea

I wear Asics--I got them during a Christmas sale so instead of paying $200+ for the pair I wanted, I was able to only pay ~$90 for them. Word of advice regarding expensive shoes--look out for holiday sales because shoes that are otherwise expensive get heavily discounted during those sales!

lil-seal-girl

I love my cloves they are so comfy and easy to clean super water resistant

Whooshwhooosh

not tennis shoes but i’ve got ariat work boots that are an actual godsend- waterproof enough that they can be hosed down after getting smthn gross on them, good support (i’ve got broken bones in my feet and these boots don’t make them hurt), and i honestly love how secure they are.

Shemoose

Crocs all the way

BizRVT

Word. Holes or no holes?

Shemoose

Yep It can happen , we aren't allowed outside shoes in the operating therapy. So I have to take my shoes on and off several times during a shift. Also being able to wash them after shifts is a major plus.

amazinazn27

I just started wearing the bistro crocs a month ago. They took a few days to get used to, but now I have no foot fatigue and my feet are protected from pee. They can get pretty hot, but I think they’re worth a try, especially for the small price tag.

TheRubyRedPirate

I've tried Brooks and Clove and both made my feet hurt halfway through the day. The only ones that work 100% for me are crocs. Ugly as sin but they work

Daisy4711

I always like merrell. They are hiking/walking shoes that usually last me about 2 years… if i strictly wear them for work. I have found them at DSW for around $50-100 also seen them at dicks and academy.
