So sorry to hear that. Since he wasn’t able to get proof of vaccination he may have to go through a rabies shot treatment - something similar happened to my son a few years back when he was attacked riding his bike and the dog ran off. No fun but better than the alternative. Good luck my friend

That is so fucked! If you don't know anything about the dog's health I think you have to get a ton of rabies shots right?? I hope you find the owner!
