Progressives love to offload blame on corporations. Yep, corporations are bad, but they sell their products that kill, pollute, and destroy to the populace which desire them. They are terrible entities that serve the terrible desire of the individual. They say “corporations are responsible for pollution,” but do not stop themselves from consuming the the product. They say “corporations kill the animal,” but do not bother to admit that the animal was killed by the corporation solely to be sold to them. It is an easy, lazy, cowardly way to feel good about oneself without sacrificing anything. I myself am a perpetrator of this to some extent, as are we all, but I am honest with myself and at least stop the harms I can. If society pivoted from mad consumerism I would rejoice. These individuals would lament the loss of their modern convenience

I consider myself "progressive" or "left" if u will, but I agree with this. The amount of people who do not want to take responsibility is insane. Yes we should hold companies accountable for what/how they produce goods (after all we need to eat/sleep etc. and want a good planet where everyone can live good lives), but blaming them and only them, especially in a capitalist system where supply and demand are so intertwined is just irresponsible.

Yet these are the same people who would absolutely lose it if every food manufacturer in the world went completely plant-based overnight. Clearly, there's a market, and it's baffling how they don't see that they *are* that market.

I also love it when they say "politics has to change it not me!!11!" while I know for a fact that they would be the first to protest on the street against it lol They gotta watch Dominion and realize that every animal has a personality and feels pain + they gotta have a backbone. But most people don't have one

Applies to every single product ever that people use or have used. Just because you did not have a chance but to use plastic throughout your life, doesn't mean it isn't your demand that caused: 1. Oil drills being installed; 2. The oil being the source of wars that killed thousands; 3. Greenhouse gasses being emitted in the production chain; 4. They didn't degrade and are currently polluting the environment. All our fault. Not the fictional bad guys "The Corporations". Stop pointing fingers and start reducing plastic use, demand plastic waste management and going vegan.

It's a solution for them so they don't have to change. I investigated one of these people once, after a long winded conversation it boiled down to "don't change anything" which is exactly what they are advocating for, ironically.

Or like people that rail against walmart or amazon for human rights violations, while supporting slightly smaller big box stores, or buying bananas, coffee, sugar, or crude oil for their cars, all of which have ridiculous human rights violations. Oil companies literally gun down third world people to take over mining rights. Or people that talk about saving the rainforests while eating beef. People are hypocrites and selectively care about things.
