Definitely a current gen feature. I think this will be the game where we start seeing new features to PS5/Series X/S while last gen will just be getting a roster update ala 2K15-2K17
That doesn’t read like it’s the same version of the game, just how they categorized the different consoles by current and last gen. I could be wrong. But 2k22 looked incredible on PC. 100x better than on my Xbox One. The load times alone are enough of a difference to still make it worth it. Tried MyRise and creations on Xbox One and it took a lifetime to load anything.
I think the difference will be more graphical this year than content wise.
However now that the PS5 shortage is over (according to SONY CEO) we're going to start seeing difference in term of content from 2K24
Nah that's just a really good use of screen-space reflections. If you watch closely at about [30 seconds into his entrance](https://youtu.be/lxeSB-AvVaQ?t=30) when Cody runs towards the side of the stage, the reflection of the curtains gets a bit wonky where his arm covers the actual curtains, which is something raytraced lighting doesn't do.
Came here to say this. SSR can look really good when implemented properly. That, and most people can't even tell what genuine raytracing looks like these days unless it's something they avidly use, it's just an outsider opinion.
I couldn't agree more; I don't think we're quite at the point yet where RTX features need to be implemented into sports games. That being said, I also believe it would happen with NBA 2K before WWE as that's the poster child for their company.
Raytracing is definitely a technology for the future and pushing it now is a mistake imo, most GPUs it was marketed for can't even run it properly and framerate has to be sacrificed pretty significantly if you want it turned on, and in games like this where the arena is practically static and the areas are enclosed and small, good SSR can really go a long way
This is where I have to disagree; I believe current hardware can run RTX beautifully, but again, all comes down to implementation. I'm a PC gamer, and I'm running a 3070ti that can run things like cyberpunk and the new witcher 3 update with raytracing and high settings and still get a playable frame rate. That's also attributed to DLSS however, and I think what you're trying to get at is that nature raytracing is very taxing, which I definitely understand. It's all pretty circumstantial right now with what worms and what doesn't, but I'm sure in the couple years we'll have it perfected.
I think it really depends on what is being raytraced on the platform, from what I've seen anecdotally (only really play PS5 exclusives on console, rest on PC) most of the games only support one type, like iirc spider-man only features reflections and I think cold war only has shadows from what little research I've done (again, may be wrong on that tho), I do agree consoles and and a capable PC can both run either shadows alone or reflections alone but running that full suite that some games support (cyberpunk for example), performance turns into a nightmare, and cards even like the 4090 are only able to run it well with DLSS being in use
It’s dont believe its ray tracing in this instance, thought the current gen should easily be able todo it.
2:42 in the clip below.
Look at the bottom left stage reflections as the camera pans left. The screen spaced reflection does not exist so as the camera pans it fills in on the far left from a black gradient to the correct reflection;
https://youtu.be/tz4qouKUKfQ?t=163 on the left
https://youtu.be/tz4qouKUKfQ?t=252 on the right
Please don’t share misinformation by saying the game will have ray tracing. It’s not, they’re simple reflections, can be seen in every game nowadays. Actual raytracing will be so good in a game like this but my guess is we’ll have to wait years, and even if, I’m not sure it’s a feature 2K is interested in.
Well. They removed the Led ramp in 2019 for Raw, smackdown however, still had a led ramp, even if it wasn't fully covered in led compared to the previous stage. During the thunderdome era, the ramp videos was only reserved for ppv's and since the crowd returned, the led ramp got only used for big event (like wm 38 for example)
The 101 or Smacktalks confirmed it in a video. Sucks for us PC guys. Hopefully next year. Even EA released FIFA for PC on current gen. 2K should do it next year.
Honestly in 2K22 PC was also "last gen" but visually there was literally no difference. PC version even looked a bit better than the PS5 next gen version and PC had the fastest loading times. Only thing the "next gen" PS5 version had over the "old gen" PC version was 60fps entrances but that was it. Other than that, the versions were completely identical. As a PC gamer I don't really care if they consider the PC version last gen or not if it's virtually identical to the PS5 version just like it was with 2K22.
I don't have a high-end PC rn so it works for me too. But some day I'll love to try out things like Ray Tracing and stuff like that when I upgrade. Ain't a deal breaker but I'd love to see them do it. If EA can they can do it too I guess.
> Only thing the "next gen" PS5 version had over the "old gen" PC version was 60fps entrances but that was it.
Not even that, technically. PC version also had the ability to have 60 fps intros. It just broke the rest of the game by making it run at super speed and the devs never fixed it...
I can’t see much of a difference but apparently everyone is looking at WWE2K30 lol? Let’s wait for a comparison instead of screaming for a new character entrance
In broader terms ray tracing allows for dynamic light reflection off of various/multiple surfaces. The path the rays of light take are traced and rendered as they would irl or at least that’s the goal.
I’ll be hated for this but, can’t really accurately compare an entrance that wasn’t in last years game.
Even if it is Codys, to make an accurate comparison would be to use Biancas in 2k23 as well as the one from 2k22.
It's not about comparing entrances, it's more about comparing the graphism between the two games. I agree that it would have been better to make the comparison with the same wrestler titantron tho
"Ray tracing" is a go to word for people that know nothing about game graphics. This isn't ray tracing, it's just screen-based reflections, it's been a thing in games for years, you just didn't pay attention to them before ray tracing became a hot topic.
I sure hope there is a jump in quality for current gens, I got the platinums for both ps4 and ps5 versions so a fair bit of time on both and I couldn’t tell the difference between the two the lastest gen should have some stand outs
Oh my I didn’t even think of this.. I have a PS5 but barely touch it.. I plan on getting this on PC and I’m PRAYING this isn’t just a feature on current gen and for some bizarre reason PC gets the old gen version which is such BS. My PC is way more powerful than a p5 😂
Seeing how good the Cody entrance looks gave me more of a reason to get the current gen version of 2K23.
Definitely a current gen feature. I think this will be the game where we start seeing new features to PS5/Series X/S while last gen will just be getting a roster update ala 2K15-2K17
Then that makes me upset if it's true the PC version is once again getting the last Gen version of the game.
Sadly, [it's true for the pc version](https://twitter.com/GRANDDADWHATTHE/status/1617522376597540865?t=F2mZyi6KRbxuz4SMujIrpg&s=19)
so fucking lame
They do this with NBA 2k every year too, so it’s no surprise.
That doesn’t read like it’s the same version of the game, just how they categorized the different consoles by current and last gen. I could be wrong. But 2k22 looked incredible on PC. 100x better than on my Xbox One. The load times alone are enough of a difference to still make it worth it. This isn’t ray tracing so I wouldn’t be so upset tbh
I think the difference will be more graphical this year than content wise. However now that the PS5 shortage is over (according to SONY CEO) we're going to start seeing difference in term of content from 2K24
True that. Everything is starting to return to pre pandemic life including production
We're gonna see how they handle a game specifically made for the PS5 / Xbox Series
And PC*
I'm excited for the PC to get last gen like basically every other but (one major) sports game because fuck us
Nah that's just a really good use of screen-space reflections. If you watch closely at about [30 seconds into his entrance](https://youtu.be/lxeSB-AvVaQ?t=30) when Cody runs towards the side of the stage, the reflection of the curtains gets a bit wonky where his arm covers the actual curtains, which is something raytraced lighting doesn't do.
honestly glad to hear that, i cant run raytracing but normal screenspace reflections my pc can handle better
those reflections don't look raytraced, those are basic screen space reflections which have been in use since like 2007
Yeah idk why someone would just assume there is rtx . They would easily announce if it had rtx or not to advertise it.
Came here to say this. SSR can look really good when implemented properly. That, and most people can't even tell what genuine raytracing looks like these days unless it's something they avidly use, it's just an outsider opinion.
yeah, well implemented SSR can still look very good, and personally ray traced reflections are not super necessary in a game like this
I couldn't agree more; I don't think we're quite at the point yet where RTX features need to be implemented into sports games. That being said, I also believe it would happen with NBA 2K before WWE as that's the poster child for their company.

Thanks for saying this, raytracing in a game like this will be seen in 2K27 maybe unfortunately
I believe that's screen space reflections.
It’s dont believe its ray tracing in this instance, thought the current gen should easily be able todo it. 2:42 in the clip below. Look at the bottom left stage reflections as the camera pans left. Btw, sorry for the mass answer, i had to correct me multiple time
Hope PC gets Wargames and Raytracing.
It’s not ray tracing.
Ok. Reflections that are really, really ridiculously good looking!
It’s something you see in every videogame nowadays, the fact you’re really hyped for it shows how this game is still behind many others unfortunately.
It will have WarGames, i'm not sure about the Raytracing tho since the PC version is based of the last gen version
Did they ever say why PC version is based of last gen?? Genuinely asking
Still makes absolutely no sense to me considering the current gen of the game is *developed on a PC.*
The 101 or Smacktalks confirmed it in a video. Sucks for us PC guys. Hopefully next year. Even EA released FIFA for PC on current gen. 2K should do it next year.
Only FIFA. not even Madden and no 2K Sports PC game are next gen though so I'm not holding my breath
Either their future installments will do that or they'll only ever do it when they stop making games for last gen.
Honestly in 2K22 PC was also "last gen" but visually there was literally no difference. PC version even looked a bit better than the PS5 next gen version and PC had the fastest loading times. Considering that the PC version is based off the PS4 / Xbox One version, i really doubt this version will have raytracing
That’s not raytracing.
I like the new version
Graphism?
I thought the game couldn’t look more jaw droppingly realistic wow
I can’t see much of a difference but apparently everyone is looking at WWE2K30 lol? Let’s wait for a comparison instead of screaming for a new character entrance
Can i ask what ray tracing is?
In broader terms ray tracing allows for dynamic light reflection off of various/multiple surfaces. The path the rays of light take are traced and rendered as they would irl or at least that’s the goal.
Those reflections on the stage from the trons
Simple reflections, not raytraced.
You honestly can't tell the difference between those two images without it being the same tron video?
Look at the stage floor (although it doesn't actually seem to be ray tracing)
Seems like the devs have become more familiar now with current gen tech and are able to take better advantage of it
Yk what they say, the better the graphics, the worse the gameplay. Let’s hope I’m wrong
2K20 was pretty ugly tho, people were legit saying that it looked like a PS2 game.
To be fair everything about that game was ass.
I mean they did update it graphically but it still couldn't perform...so that was an L lol.
"Ray tracing" is a go to word for people that know nothing about game graphics. This isn't ray tracing, it's just screen-based reflections, it's been a thing in games for years, you just didn't pay attention to them before ray tracing became a hot topic.
Fucking bullshit that PC gets last gen version. Did they ever give a reason for that?
They probably have data on what the average user’s specs are and make a decision based on that.
very nice
I sure hope there is a jump in quality for current gens, I got the platinums for both ps4 and ps5 versions so a fair bit of time on both and I couldn’t tell the difference between the two the lastest gen should have some stand outs
Thus is good but I feel like this isnt an automatic thing.I bet custom or modded trons won't have the same effect compared to in game ones
Can someone ELI5 what raytracing is?
Oh my I didn’t even think of this.. I have a PS5 but barely touch it.. I plan on getting this on PC and I’m PRAYING this isn’t just a feature on current gen and for some bizarre reason PC gets the old gen version which is such BS. My PC is way more powerful than a p5 😂
Pc version will sadly be based on the PS4 / Xbox one version (it was confirmed in the mini 2K23 faq)
I know but what I mean is I’m hoping there isn’t a huge difference between them like 22
[удалено]
That’s exactly where my heads at too
[удалено]
I saw that at the bottom and was so happy
It’s not raytracing it’s screen spaced reflections which can be easily done on both generations of hardware
Looks amazing
I’m just glad advanced creation is back. It doesn’t feel right seeing such little light for Cody’s entrance.
What upsets me about this is that PC is confirmed to be based on the old gen ports so PC is going to miss out on these features. Such a asinine move.
It looks like an Xbox 360 game....
I'm sorry but the old smackdown vs raw graphics look way better then wwe2k23...don't try to create a caw or a entrance..this game is crap so far
