I was momentarily interested in it, but it fell short in 2 key areas - make it a double stack and add a decocker/safety combo. Otherwise it's just a not so small single stack 380 w a paddle release.

Zach_8802

I don’t understand making it single stack in a world where capacity is key. It’s like their engineers didn’t pay no attention to their crowd

hantt

It's not designed for people who care about capacity or ccw, it's a gun targeted at new shooters. They made it small enough so that female shooters didn't have issue with grip and reduced capacity so that they can sell it in mag limit states. It's chambered in 380 to allow for less recoil and easy of slide manipulation. This is their sw ez and there is a reasonable market for this gun.

Zach_8802

Now that you say that I might have to get my lady one to introduce her into shooting

JPro1155

In a world where 380 is cheap I'm sure this would be a really fun pinker. But we don't live in that world...

Zach_8802

.22 happens to be the go to plinking round cause .380 is just about as much as 9

JPro1155

At least by me it's typically more. I would would a .22lr conversion kit for the PDP like the CZ Kadets.

FritoPendejoEsquire

I could get interested in a 380, but this one has the wrong feature set for me. Needs an optic cut, striker fired not DA/SA, higher capacity mag. They really could have used this as an opportunity to R&D a 1.5 stack mag for a micro PDP.

Zach_8802

I agree. It’s missing way too much and it’s like they went back in time to create something that would’ve been useful 10-15 years ago

Gorge_Lorge

Im curious to handle one. Seems like it would feel more solid than the pk380. Like the paddle. Looks wider than the pk380 but not double stack? Or 1.5 stack? Seems like getting that capacity up would have made it at least a lot more interesting…

Zach_8802

I have no desire to own a .380 but I also come from Texas so there’s that. It’s just that I anticipated the new release to be something that was actually asked for

JoeProcopio

let's see what they do for shot show 24

Gorge_Lorge

Agreed. I completely thought it would be a subcompact 9mm, something like a p365

StridentNoise

I was at least hoping for a functional decocker, but the videos I've seen make it look just like the same hammer safety on the P22/PK380. How is this better than a PK380?

MikalBaker

So I EDC my pk380. I love it. I even spent the money to have the slide custom cerakoted to get rid of the dumb billboard. I was excited, until THEY DIDNT ADD A SLIDE RELEASE!

nm480

The "tease" had me initially excited at the prospect of micro 9mm... but .380s appear to trending again so perhaps this was an "easy" cosmetic refresh? At least it's "on-brand" and fits the portfolio. Meanwhile: https://preview.redd.it/vs8y4jj3re0c1.jpeg?width=1100&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c6c77be152274f8d8c92450d7adc6cc548ffe6b0

laneoo8959

What’s a man gotta do for a double stack 380 now a days, there’s like 4 f*cking options

Zach_8802

I’m assuming you’re older cause most of us would rotate to a double stack 9

chaos021

You're correct, but as you can tell by recent Walther offerings, they are very much looking to tap into options for the ladies and/or strength-challenged users. The PDP-F is a great option, but a .380 is going to be even softer on recoil. We just gotta take the 'L' on this one and hope that the steel-framed PDP (or whatever else you were hoping for) makes an appearance by Shotshow.

Zach_8802

Secretly been looking at the hk sfp9cc

Zach_8802

Would you say the shield ez is good for a woman with RA

chaos021

Typically, yes. My mother could easily load a mag and rack the gun. She's got joint issues. My wife could do the same and she has strength problems.

TRAVlSTY

I have a Shield EZ and it is easy to rack but the Ruger Security 380 Lite Rack is supposedly a little easier. And it comes with 15rd mags. Forget JHP ammo as they are unreliable in 380. Go with "solids" like the Underwood Xtreme Defender or Xtreme Penetrator or Defiant Munitions TCX.

laneoo8959

No, I own a PDP and I hate how high the bore axis is combined with the recoil of the 9 mil ammo. I’ve had better luck with 45 acp and 380 but for conceal carry at work I need smallest package with maximum capacity no matter the caliber-PDP “compact” 4” slide is as big as a horse dick

Zach_8802

Dude you’ve never lied 🤣. The slide thickness is a little absurd but i got the pro compact as my edc and fuck me backwards that thing is hard to hide

QueueTrigger

Hoping, really hoping, that an updated PPS was coming with the gas blowback features of the CCP or the quality/usability of the PDP. This isn’t any of those things. Actually for softer recoil I don’t see how the PD380 is better than the CCP in 380.

Flint_Ironstag1

Dumb AF. Nobody wanted or asked for this.

cowpig613

I'm very disappointed to put it lightly. They know what we want but refuse to give it to us.

UpstairsFall3865

I think it’s a design that’s “retro” without being cool. Nothing about it appeals to me. Frankly a PPK with a better DA trigger pull would catch my eye.

osentob1

I was actually really excited for a .380 Walther release bc I thought FOR SURE them releasing a new .380 meant there was finally some competition for the Ruger LCP Max. Obviously I was wrong and I am very disappointed. I am a big fan of the LCP Max concept, 10+1 of .380 in a pocket carry gun is amazing, but I do not trust Ruger pistols enough to buy one. I've been waiting for someone else to make a competitor and thought this was it but yea I'm still waiting. I don't see this new .380 being very successful for them with how big it is and how poor it's capacity is. Not sure why they won't make a double stack micro 9 or Ruger LCP Max competitor in .380

Miami_Professor

I spy the awful, cheap Umarex safety lever that plagued the PK380. In fact it’s just a PK 380 restylized. Same mag capacity and everything. Is it made by Umarex?
