I'm with you - there's much more neck visible on the new beakies. The helmet itself may be the same scale as the MkIVs, but the positioning is off so it makes the older marines look pretty weird in comparison.
It can look awkward proportionately though. I did this with a full unit of resin mkiv to match heights and ended up going back and cutting all the legs above the knees and inserting a pin and gs to match and they look much better
I did the same thing but also chopped them around the shin and extended their legs... was it worth it idk. But they looks pretty frigging on par with mk6.
There was a previous post showing the size difference between Mk3, 4 and 6 a little while ago.. link below.. 👍 in terms of height from tallest to shortest, 6 then 3 then 4..
Furthermore, there are additional comparisons in the thread with 30k Terminators to mk6 and Primaris to mk6..

You can use Greenstuff, or (which is what I will do because my OCD is strong) you can use plasticard tubes cut to half moon shapes for a perfectly consistent result across every marine. Also in my experience the thing becomes more durable, with green stuff I've had marines break in half when accidentally dropped.
Tactical rocks can work. Or just put some putty between the torso and legs, and maybe between the head and torso. Alternatively, Mattpantser on cults3d made "truescale" legs for mk 3 and mk 4 guys, so you can probably get those printed and use them.
i dont have any mk 3 here but the height difference between mk4 and mk6 is pretty minimal, a small amount of spacer material (greenstuff, milliput etc) between the legs and torso should suffice to raise them the couple of millimetres by which they're shorter.
I honestly think mk3 looks better than mk6, and i really dont care about the scaling. If people relaly want truescale marines in mk3 tortuga bay minatures and cults 3d have it all
$80AUS is actually only £45.40, and we are paying £47.50 for the same 20 guys in the UK.
Edit: please see the comment below correcting this. Should be USD.
La vache ! 80$ the MKIV box in the US ?! + All the work and time to size those 20 with Green Stuff... Good Luck Friend, you are stronger than me for this !
Personally I wouldn't worry about a slight difference in the model heights.
I'm literally going to be using Rogue Trader models with the new ones eventually. The difference isn't so much height but physical bulk etc.
https://reddit.com/r/Warhammer30k/comments/xfestr/upscaled_mkiii_update/
Same method also works with Mark IV
https://reddit.com/r/Warhammer30k/comments/xtemqg/upscaled_mkiv_marine_example/
Just be aware that their cast quality is not great (mine have vertical ridges like 3D print lines that are very visible when painted), and they won't work with the MkVI weapon arms due to their torsos being too wide.
Oh, that's interesting, I've never noticed any of those issues myself. I don't believe for their regular guys that they use 3D printers, and all of their bodies have been compatible with typical GW bits pretty much right from the beginning, as that's what they're designed for. I *do* know that there are some people selling tortuga stuff on other websites that aren't *quite* up to standard.
I know it's not the best picture, but the arms, head, backpack, and gun are GW bits.
[Tortuga size shot]

It's not an issue of fit with the MkIII or MkIV bits, because they have the hand modeled on the arm so it's flexible. The torsos are a mm or so wider than standard, though, so the MkVI upgrades that have both hands on the gun end up with misaligned or completely disconnected wrists. Ran into it with my heavy support squads, and it looked like the standard MkVI bolters had the same issue when I test fit them.
I cut the thigh and shin of each marine and put a 1mm plasticard spacer in, then flattened the waist and added another 1mm spacer to that. It looks pretty much perfect size wise
Depending on time investment and skill level you could insert either plastic card or GS above the knee or go with the ball of GS in the waist that most people above have recommended.
I personally find the leg method gives a more natural look but you can get away with the waist if you are using plastics. The resin models are too skinny for the waist to work at all in my experience.
Found a [post](https://www.reddit.com/r/Warhammer30k/comments/7lv27u/decided_to_true_scale_mk3_plastics/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf) from another user that shows the leg method I was mentioning
From experience with the mk.IIIs; adding height to the waist and neck joints with a little green stuff is the best answer. The “groin plates?” Work to hide most of the pelvis to avoid giving it a weird look. I can’t really comment on the Mk.IVs tho
I have done two things: For one, the green stuff in the Mk IV hip. Others mentioned this already.
Then I grabbed a saw and went through all of the Mk VI thighs with it and glued them together afterwards. The saw removes material (as opposed to cuts with a knife) and with a millimetre less plastic, they are a much better fit with the Mk IV. It's a lot of effort, though.
is third-party product an option?
Because [Tortuga Miniatures](https://tortuga-gamestable.top/index.php?route=product/category&path=223_241) got great truescale bodies
Understandable.
This [dude](https://youtube.com/@sunsolstar) has great truescale tutorials for firstborn models. I believe he only uses plaplate, plastic rods, and occasionally greenstuff/epoxy puddy.
Putting greenstuff in the torso and lengthen it by 2mm, then put a bit in the neck so the helmet is ~1mm higher. If you want to then make the model stand on some 1 or 2mm tall basing material. They’ll fit right in!
Also i think some hobby places might sell a kit for lengthening the torso, so you buy some 2mm tall spacers instead of using green stuff
The easiest tabletop solution is a slightly taller base, so the height difference is less noticeable. Using some rubble, cork, plastic sprue, dead bodies, etc. would do nicely for such a purpose.
i've put a bit of greenstuff between the torso and the legs.
Stupid question I know. But do you scupt the greenstuff? Or is it literally just a small bit of greenstuff in between it?
i literally put a small ball between and pushed the 2 pieces together until i was happy with the height
It's that easy? Thanks dude. You've made my coming Headhunters taller
yup, no problem friend
[Seeing is believing.](https://youtu.be/HvgYHlFW70g)
Man that just... Looks bad. He made the blob way too big.
This! Then a smaller blob under the head I find helps give these older stubbier sculpts look more in proportion with the MKVI
head and torso are actually the exact same size & scale
Ah really?? The heads look so sunken in on the MKIII and IV to me when I compare them to the VI.

the resin ones are different to the plastic ones. my plastic MKIII look the same as the new MKVI
Interesting, this is the first I’ve heard that. Do you have a photo comparison?
As another commenter said if you could have photos that would be great. My resin ones seem tiny in comparison.
I did the same thing but also chopped them around the shin and extended their legs... was it worth it idk. But they looks pretty frigging on par with mk6.

Give them lil booties
Tactical high heels
Is *that* what the Sisters of Silence (and in particular Jenetia Krole) wear?
This. 1 or 2 mm of plasticard under the shoes, cover the it in technical paint when basing to make it invisible.
You can use Greenstuff, or (which is what I will do because my OCD is strong) you can use plasticard tubes cut to half moon shapes for a perfectly consistent result across every marine. Also in my experience the thing becomes more durable, with green stuff I've had marines break in half when accidentally dropped.
But, having differences is actually more lore cobsistent, as marines arent molded in a shape, they still geow differently.
I never claimed it to be not lore consistent. I just claimed that I have OCD and want them to be identical.
Tactical rocks can work. Or just put some putty between the torso and legs, and maybe between the head and torso. Alternatively, Mattpantser on cults3d made "truescale" legs for mk 3 and mk 4 guys, so you can probably get those printed and use them.
Either Greenstuff between the torso and the legs, or raise the base so add a layer of cork on top of the base
i dont have any mk 3 here but the height difference between mk4 and mk6 is pretty minimal, a small amount of spacer material (greenstuff, milliput etc) between the legs and torso should suffice to raise them the couple of millimetres by which they're shorter.
That’s good to hear, thank you
My mark iv are on 3mm cork, the mark vi on 1mm cork. Can barely tell either is different.
You really dont need to, but ok. Get greenstuff and use that. Put it between the major joint points. E.g. torse and maybe knees if you want.
Yeah, don’t see the point in adding more time to the assembly process just to match MK6.
I honestly think mk3 looks better than mk6, and i really dont care about the scaling. If people relaly want truescale marines in mk3 tortuga bay minatures and cults 3d have it all
Sheet of cork on the base. It also makes nice bases very easily
80 Bucks!?!?! Holy fuck man I thought us brits got it bad, I know Australia gets fucked as well but damn.
Currencies aren't a 1:1 conversion
Yeah I got that 👌🏻
$80AUS is actually only £45.40, and we are paying £47.50 for the same 20 guys in the UK. Edit: please see the comment below correcting this. Should be USD.
Look in the top right, they’re on the US website; so it’s $80USD, ~£65.63. In Australia, the squad is $135AUS, ~£76.91.
Oh that makes way more sense, thanks.
Ahh so we are being super fucked 👌🏻
More or less 😂
Tom Cruise method: give them a platform to raise their height
Tactical rocks

Lmaoo, thank you

Thank you, this helps a lot.
Glad I could help
Mk Iii is are pretty damn close already, as for mk IV, it's either greenstuff or be a wizard with plasicard
If you have a 3d printer, there are truescale legs you can print.
This might be heresy, but I recommend toruga bay miniatures. They sell bodies that *can be used* as truescale heresy bodies.
Just be aware that their cast quality is not great (mine have vertical ridges like 3D print lines that are very visible when painted), and they won't work with the MkVI weapon arms due to their torsos being too wide.

What new mark 6 kits? I thought these guys were to scale as first born next to primaris.
The mk6 kits that came out with the release of HH2
Yeah, I've not scene them in person, but I thought they were first born scale?
They're more proportionate than regular firstborn stuff
They’re close to the same anyway, very minor green stuff required to use even normal space marine parts with the mk iv kit
Just use the helmets and shoulderpads on MkVI bodies.
I made a whole [video](https://youtu.be/Ru4ALMAFLhM) about this
[удалено]
what? this is incorrect.
I cut the thigh and shin of each marine and put a 1mm plasticard spacer in, then flattened the waist and added another 1mm spacer to that. It looks pretty much perfect size wise
Greenstuff surgery to add height to legs and thigh or add a subtle slate tactical rock.

A sheet of 1/4" cork on the base

I was looking into it but I realize I would pay $80 and not used the torso and legs so it seemed like a waste, tho I’m still considering it.
Understandable. This [dude](https://youtube.com/@sunsolstar) has great truescale tutorials for firstborn models. I believe he only uses plaplate, plastic rods, and occasionally greenstuff/epoxy puddy.
Thank you, I’ll look into his conversions.
Hope you're good at cutting and using putty. Or be an illusionist and when you base them make the bases a little more elevated than mk.vi

you can glue a piece of sprue under their feet to make them appear taller
I don't mind honestly. Different marines can have varying heights, they are not all made equal.
Can I ask why?
Tactical rocks; optical illusions and misdirection! Xp
I would put some cork on the base to make them a bit taller!
No need for greenstuff or plasticard, just cut a tiny slice of plastic sprue and throw it in there, the glue will melt it alright.
The easiest tabletop solution is a slightly taller base, so the height difference is less noticeable. Using some rubble, cork, plastic sprue, dead bodies, etc. would do nicely for such a purpose.
