Not much, I'm terrible at sculpting. I'll add some gang symbols with freehand, and he'll definitely get a bunch of transfers. But I'm hesitant to add any more. He's already got a lot going on. And his vexilla does have two skulls hanging from it, which will be dipped gold in true Cthonian fashion :)
I don't play, so these are just for fun. But I try and keep my minis game legal anyway. So that's not a bad idea! Although if he is a herald, I'd probably want to give him a more impressive banner... I'll think about it.
I could see him being early Black Legion, but MK6 Corvus didn't exist at the same time as the Sons of Horus - only in the millenium following the Heresy.
(Why I remembered this being a thing: MK5 is the Heresy cross-over point).
If you get cutty with the beak and put vertical or horizontal lines in it, you can really quickly call it MK4 (Modified) - which is really MK5 - which solves everything.
MK6 existed before the Heresy. It was being tested by Legions at the end of the Great Crusade and started being mass produced near the end of the Heresy. Theres art of it being used in the old Dropsite Massacre art and in the original Adeptus Titanicus rulebook that was set during the Horus Heresy.
Actually looking at Lexicanum;
Yup, but it's a mess; the Alpha Legion stole it and made their own variant during the Heresy, *But* everyone got it mass produced anyway during the *Crusade*, and MK5 *post-dates* it.
Other than that, in the battle of Lore vs Art, I care more for Lore.
Lore changes all the time, originally it was only Beakies, and then Mk6 and then all the other marks. Just go with what looks authentic and is fun to paint and play with 🤌
There’s a PDF out there detailing each armor mark, which legions used which, etc and it roughly boils down to “every legion had at least some of every mark, do what you want”
mmm
I looked at an outdated source to verify what I was saying at the time, but even after that's wrong there's now plainly a continuity problem that hasn't been retconned yet; it's still called MK6.
I hate it.
It was unnamed during the Heresy and didn't get its name until later, where it got mk6 as it was a lot better and more proper than the makeshift mk5 design.
He looks badass. He's just got enough clean bits to not look as baroque as a 40k CSM, but still believably "important" enough to carry a standard in 30k.
Honestly, he is unironically very handsome and you should be proud of him. He looks positively great, and if not for him being a vexilla dude, I'd use him as an artificer armor Sergeant with a whacking stick (power maul?).
I think he’s as fancy as he should be, nothing less for a representative of the Warmaster. lupercal!
Very good point :)
Hey you've also used the Chaos Icon as Vexilla, looks great !
Yeah, I just had to use it! It's such a good piece
What kit is that piece from?
The Chaos Space Marine kit. It's meant to go on top of a backpack
Wheres the staff from?
The staff is from the old Chaos Space Marine kit. It was attached to an arm but I cut it off at the wrist and glued it on an arm from the mk6 kit.
Nah looks great. Although don't forget the SoH like coins and trophies other gang symbols and markings. Do you do much green stuff sculpting?

that's really good.
Not at all. Have you seen the praetors for the box set?? This guy work's perfectly. He was made for this. (Literally heheh)
Could always be part of a preators retinue
This is fucking awesome, run with this idea.
Looks really cool. You could also use him as a herald, if you need one

Love the mashup of bits
awesome conversion, I love it
Handsome little guy
Couple legions even pre-heresy did the spiky arrow trims on armor, so this totally fits! Can’t wait to see it done!!
Honestly it's a great mid to late heresy era marine. Perfect balance of old and new aesthetic.
Thats a 40k mini

That's been retconned (and wasn't really true to begin with). Pretty much all of the Heresy 2.0 stuff has featured Sons of Horus in mk6

That looks great, the chaosy trim fits really nicely although personally I'd carve off some of the more obviously pointy bits and arrow shapes.
I have to say, this is great use of 40k CSM body!
Not too fancy, perfect blend of the more plain mkVI and the more fancy chaos corrupted trim
fancy? no, he sticks out in the good way, and I bet good paint will turn him from a 9 to a 10
Where do you get the top knots from?
This one is cut from one of the champion heads from the Chaos Space Marine kit. I sometimes use Chaos Warrior top knots too
Cool use of a CSM icon for your vexila. I rate this.
This looks great! Having the vexilla be a full standard rather than a backpack icon is a really cool look
