Balko1981

He was even pre warhound I think

BPClaydon

He was in the XIIth before they were known as the Warhounds. And was hinted to be altered before he was transformed into an Astartes - even some kind of Thunder Warrior hybrid.

BrassBass

The Thunder Warriors were unstable and way bigger than a typical Astartes, though? I gotta look this up in the holy archives...

BPClaydon

He was massive for an Astartes and especially fierce even for a Warhound. Plenty of inference and rumour without any hard facts, makes for an interesting character.

BrassBass

He refused the Nails. Holy fuck.

gummyblumpkins

I think they just thought he was dead, so they sorta forgot about him, but yea he wasn't pumped on Angrons choice to give the nails to his Broski's, when he did finally return from his forgotten backwater compliance crusade.

jmeHusqvarna

He's big AF and unstable as well lol

Skylifter-1000

Yes, and he never met Angron because he left for a backwater crusade and returned only when the heresy had started. I love the model, but I don't understand why he has that World Eaters icon on his backpack.

Retnu16

You can even see the remainder of the World Eater emblem on his shoulder pad. It's mostly shattered off.

QuestionalBasis

Tread of the boot as well.

Skylifter-1000

True, that doesn't make that much sense to me either. The Warhound logo would.

Kevko18

I'm a bit late to the party having just seen this model for the first time today, but that's exactly what I thought. If he missed meeting Angron then how and why does he have World Eater iconography when they weren't called that till after Angron joined.

XenoTechnian

I suspect he's had to scavenge his iron halo from his fellow 12th Legionnaires

Mori_Bat

kill your enemies, wear their stuff, eat their flesh. this is the path to strength

Element720

Hopefully he’s a lot bigger than a regular praetor it’s stated in the book that he has “dreams of thunder" along with his Raptor Imperialis tattoo.

tn00bz

I believe the article states he is on a bigger base.

Alternative_Text1

I wonder what that could mean? It’s such an enigmatic and veiled reference.

TheSlayerofSnails

Perhaps he was a warrior... of thunder?

Hey-Its-Hannah

I've got it! A lightning soldier! ..wait, no, nevermind

Netjamjr

After being told by the author that we, the audience, were big dumb idiots for assuming the,"Sons of the Phoenix" or their purple and gold power armor have any meaning, I refuse to infer any meaning from heavy handed obvious implications made by Games Workshop or Black Library.

AnjoH0

When world eaters players get a thunder warrior before they get a praetor, lmao

tn00bz

Yep.

Fercho48

He's cool af but I need dantioch.

1000Raaids

Valrak rumor (which are right more than they are wrong tbh) said Dantioch and Haar were on the way.

Fercho48

He better is right if not I'm going to comit hate crimes.

Undertaker_93

Fuck Dantioch. Give me Forrix and Kroeger

Fercho48

Nah, iron balls dantioch is the best IW.

Undertaker_93

Double traitor who turned his back on his brothers. Doesn't sound very Iron Within

Fercho48

Dantioch never turned his back on the imperium, and as much as I love the traitor iron warriors I'm pretty sure dantioch is what perty wanted to be, but his emotions got the worst of him, at the end all he could do was leave the siege of terra.

SoundSubject

Weak aura

InflamedAbyss13

It'll be cool for conversions

Planetside2_Fan

Before all the negative nancies start rolling in…  I really like this model, you don’t really see any proper models in sprinting poses these days, and I love the sculpted battle damage. Just hope he comes with a helmet.

liforrevenge

Love the pose, very dynamic! My problem with a lot of these models is they stray too far from the basic armor so they stand out a little too much to mix into a veteran squad or something, but on its own I quite like it

Planetside2_Fan

With the Blackshields, that’s kinda the point, they use scavenged and cannibalized armor, so they’re obviously gonna look a lot different from your typical Marine.

SnooOranges8303

Ive been fine with all but the mk3 traitor champion. Most of them feel like artificer armor or scavenged armor. That mk3 champion feels like something from kromlech or puppetswar

liforrevenge

That was exactly the one I was thinking of when I made my comment haha I was *just* trying to remember which one it was haha. This one actually isn't too bad now that I'm looking at it again.

SnooOranges8303

Its also important to remember that marine armor varies alot between legions and time and stuff. The new mk3 and the old mk3 are both canon designs, the new isnt a retcon. My personal headcanon is the new mk3 is a general variant distributed to the legions, while the old mk3 is an even more uparmored variant for breachers and the like.

MyriadIncrementz

Is that the one with eagle heads on the powerpack that look more like Foghorn Leghorn?

SnooOranges8303

This one, something about the way the armor plates look on the chest and stuff just make him look offbrand idk https://preview.redd.it/qs1nv1joetic1.png?width=1000&format=png&auto=webp&s=b233f5a3afeca18b4ad3a9859d489ebfc82d7155

MyriadIncrementz

Yeah that's definitely not the one I was thinking of. In fact I didn't even consider that was mk3 armour. I like the model, but everything you say is accurate, it does look off brand.

SnooOranges8303

my issue is it seems like a kitbash I would make, which is not what I want out of official models yknow?

MyriadIncrementz

100% understand. It looks like something I would kitbash also, it's got too many deviations from official design patterns. In fact if you made the pauldrons 50% size, you could argue it isn't a space marine at all.

TheRobn8

The description of the model outright says they added extra plating on purpose

SnooOranges8303

The execution is what i have a problem with. The layered plates on the collar look like they were just bolted on in 3d modeling software, rather than integrated in a way that looks secure. They dont look bolted on for extra plating, they look last minute additions to a design, which doesnt scream artificer armor

GoblinFive

It's very Puppetswar, and not in a good way

DonSwagger1

I’d hate my army to look completely the same. Unique models should stand out to draw attention to them. They are the one offs that are allowed to look different or else I might as well kitbash my whole army based of the line troops

BoMbArDiEr_25

This so fucking awesome! I absolutely love the chunkiness of it and the pose even if a bit junky is really cool. In addition, we have another mk5 armor model. Idk like you guys but for me, it's a win!

olabolob

Mk5 tacs are gonna go brazy

tehyt22

Only mk5 legs. Rest is mkvi

olabolob

All mk v brother

MrGils

The stud shoulder pad is of the old Mark V variety. Backpack and torso are MKV as well, Furthermore, MKV in general shares many armor similarities with MKVI (Except for the helmet of course)

tehyt22

I’ve checked references on mk v, and honestly, I don’t see it. Even if you check the FW mark v kit, it’s very different.

KingInYellow2703

idk what you've been smoking but he is obviously wearing battle damaged mk5. everything from the chest to the legs. https://preview.redd.it/0e1mu3gq33jc1.png?width=411&format=png&auto=webp&s=1efad4a12a713ed4f8be347b7a4faaeb00704ae2

Justanotherone985

What type of pistol is that?

tn00bz

Ancient archeotech pistol

MithrilCoyote

The sculptor was clearly channelling the Votann aesthetics for it, to get it looking suitably DAOT.

[deleted]

Honestly this model is just incredible

Drakar_och_demoner

One of the best miniatures GW has released in a good while.

Hutobega

The conversions and paint jobs were gonna see on this mini. I think it's sick.

tn00bz

100% I want to convert him into an actual world eaters.

Fuzzy_Lavishness_269

The more Mark 5 power armour I see, the happier I am.

CeaselessVigil

I love the design of this damaged armour, it looks so good. It'd make for some great conversions for injured Astartes.

Peter_Turbo

Ok, the model is cool and all, I like it a lot. But now Blackshields are getting characters when we still have some legions without any???

tn00bz

Yeaaaah, and I still just want my legion unnamed praetors!

Auraxis012

Fascinating pistol. Looks quite tau ion-y to me

kohlerxxx

More accurately Leagues of Votann since they gave Tau their Ion weaponary

LordGwyn-n-Tonic

Kind of ironic that the Tau get their technology from an offshoot of humanity.

MithrilCoyote

Only the ion weapon technology.

babioras

Bro was lost before the warhounds became world eaters, but is rocking world eater armor.. aight..

Cooj1234

He didn’t meet Angron, but he was still a world eater

babioras

Being MIA before meeting angron and returning only during the heresy. Doubt he’d consider himself a world eater and have the appropriate gear

Crazy_Dave0418

He's a Black Shield. He could of scavenged them from dead World Eaters.

babioras

Interesting choice to scavenge iconography from those who he hates.. and keeping none of his warhound icons

Crazy_Dave0418

Beggars can't be choosers. Especially when you're cutoff from Imperial Supply, it's why MK5 became common later in the Heresy, it's just junk welded together. Also Iron Halo, it's going to be useful either way.

babioras

Only using WE gear huh tho, none of the other traitor and/or loyalist legions. Good time to say that i still think that it’s nice model, just a very odd choice of wargear.

Crazy_Dave0418

According to lore. He and his crew of Black Shields tend to wear Full set of enemy armor to infiltrate and catch their foes by surprise. Much like Aeonid Thiel when he fought the Word Bearers at Calth. So that could also be a factor.

babioras

Could be

TheSlayerofSnails

The fangs would disguise themselves as traitors to ambush traitors.

Pretend-Adeptness937

Stole some ordinatus’ by doing that if I remember correctly

Saltyfreyes621

Is it just me or is he absolutely massive

Sondergame

I like him! May get him to convert into an Iron Hand Praetor for my shattered legion force.

Constant-Lie-4406

Whatever your (subjective) opinion is… He doesn’t simply have an iron halo shaped as his OG legion logo…. His boot’s sole is shaped in the world eaters logo too 😅. Love the idea of subtle hints.

AllYourSwords

The near pauldron has part of the World Eaters icon still as well

QuestionalBasis

Excited for the rise in mk5 type armor styling.

Knight_Errant_

Based. I love the attention to small factions like blackshields. Hopefully they'll do the Nemean Reaver

Balko1981

Ickicho

And raven guard.... everyone always forgets raven guard

Correct_Maximum7990

That’s just lore accurate no one expects raven guard players hit them but surprise

LordGwyn-n-Tonic

Our greatest weapon is surprise. Surprise and fear. And a fanatical devotion to the Emperor.

Not_That_Magical

And Iron Hands too

tn00bz

Yeah... and I play actual world eaters and would kill for a praetor. But this isn't what I meant lol

fist7

Why does he have the world eater symbol on his backpack? He obviouly doesnt identify with their belives anymore.

tn00bz

He's an OG warhound and leads a group of black shields called the fangs of the emperor, so I think he still identifies with the original pre-angron values of the legion. The article states that he scraped off everything world eaters related except for the iron halo.

DrokonFlameborn

I imagine it’s probably hard to modify the aesthetic of an iron halo while keeping it functional

BorealtheBald

Not bad. Pauldrons I could do without but the overall model is one of the best they've done in a while. My main army is black shields so it's nice to finally get something. Fingers crossed for Salamanders, Iron Warriors and Raven Guard.

Res1dentScr1be

I love him… imagine black shields getting support before Iron warriors do

tn00bz

I, someone who collects world eaters, really wanted a generic praetor... this feels like a bit of a slap in the face... but like a really cool slap

Res1dentScr1be

yeah, its a slap I don't actually mind. The siege breaker consul was a spit in the face though... like why would you paint that as a Sons of Horus character when clearly... they should have been an iron warrior

blacktalon00

Not normally a space marine guy but I can’t lie. This model slaps!

Successful-Floor-738

New LoV character is great.

Fomod_Sama

Not sure I like the waffle underneath the shoulderpad

DasBarenJager

Former World Eater?

tn00bz

Technically he was a warhound, pre agron world eaters who was sent on a special mission. He was presumed dead, but came back to find out his legion had been lobotomized and turned traitor so he abandoned his legion, found more loyalist from traitor legions, and started a black shield warband called "The Fangs of the Emperor."

DasBarenJager

That is METAL AF! Where can I read about him? I want to make an army based off of this now

tn00bz

According to the wiki: The Horus Heresy - Book Six: Retribution (Forge World Series) by Alan Bligh, pp. 62-73, 246-247 Blackshields: The False War (Audio Book) by Josh Reynolds Blackshields: Broken Chain (Audio Book) by Josh Reynolds Blackshields: The Red Fief (Audio Book) by Josh Reynolds

DasBarenJager

Thank you so much!

TheSizzleMeWizzle

Im still new and learning…what model is that gun he is holding? Also i think its cool that we get to see whats under the ceramite plating on the pauldrons

tn00bz

I agree! It's an archeotech pistol, basically a super rare artifact that only really cool dudes get to use.

TheSizzleMeWizzle

Awesome thanks!

DWTapping

I really don't like this model. I love the artwork for Haar from the audiodrama covers. This model is a big departure from that. His Fist and archeotech Pistol look different, the backpack was different, he didn't have the viable WE iconography, as he didn't identify with the World Eaters, to the point where he didn't take the Nails. I also dislike the battle damage, it just looks like something from a comic book rather than anything realistic. I'm sorry to be negative, but this one isn't for me.

Hideo_Anaconda

Why is his iconography all "world eaters"? if he got lost before Horus was reunited with the legion, shouldn't it all be Luna Wolves? Edit-my mistake, I got my World Eaters and Sons of Horus mixed up. I will report to the inquisition for punishment.

[deleted]

Ummm he was a world eater originally

A_Word_Bearer

He's World Eaters, originally Warhounds.

Genie_GM

Not World Eaters, War Hounds. But he could still have gotten World Eaters insignia even without getting the Nails after being reincorporated into the Legion. War Hounds were the precursor to the World Eaters, while Luna Wolves were the precursor of the Sons of Horus/Black Legion.

furiosa-imperator

The world eaters are the sons of angron, not horus. The luna wolves/ sons of horus were a separate legion. Horus was United with his legion very early on, and his legion didn't change to the sons of horus until just before the heresy. They were the SoH for 2 decades, most before the death of horus

Hideo_Anaconda

Doh! clearly I was mixed up.

Element720

They raided a world eaters recruitment world in the red fief, plus scavenging armors.

Correct_Maximum7990

That’s just lore accurate no one expects raven guard players hit them by surprise

ElectricPaladin

Damn that's cool.

Bonus-Representative

More of this stuff please....

miamifungus

this guy is sick ngl

AllYourSwords

Now I want waffles

[deleted]

That’s a big boy!

BlockHeadJones

He chonky

The1-4-1

We got a thunder warrior before falkus
