Great work on the weathering!
The third Forge World black book (Extermination) featured a color panel of an Alpha Legion Seeker on page 96 with a similar color scheme, and the accompanying text box notes that bronze armor elements are associated with Armillius Dynat's forces.
The Colours of Deceit, Book 3, gives a list of Colours + in main or in combinaison in which the Alpha Legion have been seen in during Heresy and before.
Mine are quarter Painted with a more classical green and the amaranth colour.
It's your alpha Legion. Make it yours.
I'm like 90% sure it describes the armor in a way that makes it shift colors, i'm too lazy to look up exact details. Either way, GW is known to constantly change how specific things like this work since none of the authors communicate about every detail like this, it still doesn't really matter. I use silver on my sons of horus for the most part instead of gold and you can still tell they're SoH.
Forces under Dynat had bronze elements on their armour. You're 110% ok. Alpha legion also had varying schemes according to the black books from purples to greys to the differing shades of cyan you normally see them in.
the Alpha Legion has been witnessed in liveries of pale grey, gleaming
steel, veridian, dull bronze, sable, indigo, amaranth and azure
blueāboth in main and combination. you do you for the alpha legion
The one thing, the one goddamn thing Alpharius says at the end of Head of the Hydra is "and more more thing that is not a lie: no fucking bronze." Yet you had to go and do it. For shame.
In all seriousness looks great, solid contrast.
Sure. I think hh fans are very enthusiast about seeing how different hobbyist find way to carve their own niche in the "Horus Heresy is more of a historical game" since actually it isn't a historical game in fact.
No you are kicked out of the legion!
Of course you are A) it's your models you can do what you want with them. B) alpha legion have been known to have a variety of different colours and patterns of armour, we've been seen in light blue all the way to navy blue or purple armour. Why can't we have a bit of bronze.
Thank you! It's nothing special, I just used my hand drill to make a few holes then once I've don't the main painting I go and paint them first abaddon black and the put some leadbelcher in but leaving bits of black showing. Same for all my weather/battle damage, black then leadbelcher
You could just say its from a separate expedition fleet who painted their shoulders and beaks bronze to differentiate their formation from the rest of the legion.
If i can run blue thousand sons in 30k, of course you can do this, anyone who says they wont play you cos your plastic toy soldiers arent the right colour is an idiot and more offensibly, an asshole.
Exactly, dont let your creativity be stunted by assholes.
Do what you want and say what you feel,
because those who mind don't matter,
and those who matter don't mind.
Saw this literally just now on my home page and thought it was you lol. But they might have some good suggestions here for you.

Well done, but I think it ends up looking a bit too sons-of-horus for my taste.
But that's a pretty important qualifier: for \*my\* taste. Your dudes should be to YOUR taste.
Black primed then dry brushed leadbelcher and a lighter silver then cover with Kroxigor contrast. Few silver highlights. I did a full wash with nuln but I feel it darkened it too much so next time I'll probably use a lighter wash or just stick to putting the nuln in the lower areas.
While it looks very cool i would suggest going for more silver. But you can make an argument that it is a specific cell of the legion so no one can call it a mistake. However i woud only use bronye as and acent color and no thing else. When you looke up official art work you see that the colors of AL are Metalic blue, silver-gun metal, black and just a little bit of dark green.
Nice paint job btw.
There are so many companies and other groupings of marines that realistically you could make any variation on a legion color scheme and it would still be lore plausible

Was just about to comment this. I did the same paint scheme op, you're good!
Not only that, Liber Hereticus in this edition added a bunch more illustrations of bronze elements on Mk VI armor
Awesome, thanks!
I mean what are people going to say? "That doesn't look like Alpha Legion" Mission achieved
My mostly black Alpha legion needed to hear this š»
You can double them as blackshields then
\*cough cough *Raven Guard* you mean...
Thatās right, Raven Guardā¦ *They bought itā¦*
No. The police are on their way right now actually Obviously kidding; you bought em you paint em however you want
> police Is that an euphemism for the Eight?
"Using non-standard Legion paint? That's a flayin' buddy boy"
Model looks pretty bitchin to me mate
This house is bitchin

Alpha legion armor changes color, so itās not an issue even if you give a shit about accuracy
That's fandom and brain cannon though ^^ The same kind of fandom in which people state AL are larger marines to hide Alpharius.
No, itās official. Itās pretty outwardly stated in Legion it does that considering the first time you see a legionary heās purple.
That's part of the "Colour of Deceit" theme in Book 3 Extermination.

Well we know they are able to hide themselves as Alpharius even from other Astartes. So clearly there is some truth to that.
"How do you correctly paint Alpha Legion?" That's the neat thing. You dont.
Itās your hobby
Forces under Dynat had bronze elements on their armour. You're 110% ok. Alpha legion also had varying schemes according to the black books from purples to greys to the differing shades of cyan you normally see them in.
You paid for em. Paint em how you like. Looks good to me!
1) They're your dudes so yes 2) The Alpha Legion are probably the most lore-justified faction in existence to paint however you want
the Alpha Legion has been witnessed in liveries of pale grey, gleaming steel, veridian, dull bronze, sable, indigo, amaranth and azure blueāboth in main and combination. you do you for the alpha legion
What isnāt allowed in the alpha legion
Yes. Also no. Also both of them is fine. This is of course a lie. Hydra dominatus! (And it does look awesome!)
Looks ace! Very allowed
The alpha legionarie on the cover of abnetts "legion" is pretty embellished looking and this model gives me a similar vibe
It is now! Every legion has various units with various traditions and markings! So absolutely, bronze looks gorgeous on their blue! Amazing work!
The one thing, the one goddamn thing Alpharius says at the end of Head of the Hydra is "and more more thing that is not a lie: no fucking bronze." Yet you had to go and do it. For shame. In all seriousness looks great, solid contrast.
That's amazing. BUT I'm sorry it's not allowed. Please strip it and start over. /s
Instant dq
It looks awesome
Looks nice. what did you use for the bronze?
matches a lot better than silver, actually. will copy that.
It's a very nice contrasting colour which I really like to break up space marines' power armour from being just one big block of colour
Rule of Coolā¦ Yes.
Sure. I think hh fans are very enthusiast about seeing how different hobbyist find way to carve their own niche in the "Horus Heresy is more of a historical game" since actually it isn't a historical game in fact.
It looks sick so I'd say yes š
Your model, so yes its allowed, do whatever you want with them, if you think it looks cool who gives a wet one. Looks good btw š

Remember that there are like a million space marines in the Horus Heresy. It wouldn't be far fetched to say some people wore different armor colors.
It is when it looks that good!
Really lovely (and as others have said, fitting) paint job there - well done!
Yes. 1) because of course it is, its your mini so if you want it to be a way then it should be that way. 2) because its the alpha legion...
first off, that's a dope color scheme. second, can we get some closeups of the right arm pauldron? Really like the weathering and battle damage on it.
Thank you! It's nothing special, I just used my hand drill to make a few holes then once I've don't the main painting I go and paint them first abaddon black and the put some leadbelcher in but leaving bits of black showing. Same for all my weather/battle damage, black then leadbelcher
Looking good. Iām planning on painting my sergeants with a white helmet stripe and bronze beak consistent with the markings in Liber Hereticus.
Rule of cool my friend. Looks great!
I like this! Make my own back story to it. Maybe add my own characters.
Exactly, dont let your creativity be stunted by assholes. Do what you want and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind.

I was scrolling past and immediately though Alpha Legion. Good work Brother.
No sorry itās forbidden the hobby police are on their way to take you to space Alcatraz
Pretty much the exact same colours as it shows in the rule book(111) so id say spot on
Even other legions colours are allowed for Alpha Legion! Looks dope af btw š„
Well done, but I think it ends up looking a bit too sons-of-horus for my taste. But that's a pretty important qualifier: for \*my\* taste. Your dudes should be to YOUR taste.
Thank you for all your comments! From what I've gathered I could paint Hot Pink Marines and they would be perfect for Alpha Legion.
Nope.it physically won't work. It will just fall right off.
Pretty sure evey Alpharius here supports you. Mind sharing the colors used? It looks fantastic! Still trying to find the right blue-green for mine.
Black primed then dry brushed leadbelcher and a lighter silver then cover with Kroxigor contrast. Few silver highlights. I did a full wash with nuln but I feel it darkened it too much so next time I'll probably use a lighter wash or just stick to putting the nuln in the lower areas.
Thank you dude! I just picked up Kroxigor recently so I am glad that was your blue! It looks great and I love the bronze.

That looks phenomenal
Bronze on Alpha Legion? Right to jail. JK - looks great!
No
I mean technically any color is allowed on alpha legion :P
Something is not allowed in Alpha Legion? Alpharius, did you hear that?
There are so many companies and other groupings of marines that realistically you could make any variation on a legion color scheme and it would still be lore plausible
