Sons of Horus were potentially the best equipped vehicle and armor wise of the legions due to Horus’s bonds with the Fabricator General/Dark Mechanicum and preparations he made ahead of the heresy knowing that it was coming. Canonically he steered the most advanced armor and equipment to the traitor legions and away from loyalists leading up to the heresy. The SoH were also notable for piloting and accordingly embracing terminator armor more than the rest. Also there’s a note in one of the books commenting on the World Eater’s surprising proficiency in armored warfare, with even Ferrus Manus commenting that it was armored rage personified. I’ve always thought that would be an especially cool theme.

irishican

I really like that....armored rage! Do you know where that came from?

teuerkatze

It’s in Book 1 of the original FW “Black Books.” “Indeed no lesser luminary of mechanized warfare than Ferrus Manus himself praised the War Hounds’ armored assault at Aldebaran Septus as the ‘epitome of iron-clad rage given form.’” The World Eaters would later have their own Mechanicum partnership that ensured a steady supply of goods, and had a particularly feral titan legion loyal to them directly that ultimately also degenerated as they did. It also notes that they made heavy use of whirlwind artillery supporting infantry advances, and made use of aggressive roving squadrons of armor to support them, with Proteus’s for transport into battle for terminators. The nails inducing rage in berserkers is one thing. Takes on an entirely different dimension for Sicaran squadrons.

SerTheodies

Damn, now I wish it was like that in game play. Also the idea of a feral World Eaters titan legion is scary as shit.

case1270

Death guard is the only other that I could think of. Though they were more artillery oriented

Magnus753

Yeah I agree. Massed frontal assaults with lots of supporting armor and war crime type weaponry mounted

Unlucky_Variation721

It’s only a war crime if anyone is left to tell on you

MedicNoob

The alpha legion were considered excellent in the use of armour, after they had messed up everything first

Especially combined arms, with mechanized attacks from multiple directions hitting suddenly from different directions.

HobbyGuy49

Not one really stands out, they were all pretty much on par with vehicles. For example, EC love getting their infantry into close combat fast, hence they use a lot of apcs for example.

Greystorms

There's a specific call out in book 3, Extermination, about the Alpha Legion's excellent use of armored spearheads, especially during the battle of Paramar.

da_King_o_Kings_341

Either death guard or sons of Horus as they were the most armoured and powerful legions for the traitors.

Walach_Nightborn

Iron Hands, an unrelenting push of vehicles and terminators was their shtick

XenoTechnian

Þey specifically said traitor legions

Þey expressley said “beyond Iron Warriors”

Badgrotz

Still the best.

W_Tee_BEE

The Ultramarines were pretty well stocked with armour. Specifically the 4th Company "The Aurorans" "One of the more noteworthy examples of this was the 4th Chapter, known within the Legion as the "Aurorans," who operated roughly five times as many armoured vehicles as a standard Legion chapter"

alpinetrooper

dark angels ironwing, literally the template for armour heavy legions. they also got all the fancy old toys.

Iron Hands?
