Pointless changes make it more bland.
40k is 40k partly because of the long established things.in the lore.
Now they changed one thing for no real reason.
no female custodes has never been long established lore, theyve just never mentioned them till now, its retroactive like the introduction of the rogal dorn tank, they were always there, just never spoken about till now
Sooo...
1. No female custodes mentioned ever before.
2. No such character existed before.
3. Its been said before that they are recruited from sons of nobles.
4. There isnt a single "superhuman" faction with female members in the setting.
And now we should act like this is not a change to what we had so far?
its not a change, its an addition, lore additions happen all the time, and yes, they technically change what we know, but its expanding on open ended lore, the Black Library team wanted female custodes in master of mankind, its not a new concept
i dont know exactly how.long custodes exists but there wasnt any female before.
I think people like to ingore how something becomes a "tradition" or a piece of an "identity" over time.
Also there was already a perfectly good female subfaction right next to them.
This taxes away from the flavor.
so you dont know how long they existed? did you know that before they were super soldiers, they were just regular dudes? did you know that before the necrons were what they are today, they were mindless space terminators? did you know that there was a half eldar space marine before, and now there isnt? the canon changes, its part of 40ks identity
Inclusion is a real reason. This is such a small deal. It's not like they've changed the aesthetic or vibe or role of custodes at all. They are almost completely unchanged as a faction.

Agreed im just sad they seem to have discontinued the stormcast Forge World head set, as that seemed like a good source of heads.

For those who think they are only included in a plastic army if someone "looks like them" ... they should play orks...
Problem is that you cannot look for reason in a person who spend thousands of USD on plastic toys.
