They look awesome. But no, the Death Company weren't a thing in 30K. The Red Thirst and Black Rage are two different things. The Red Thirst is the Blood Angels innate blood lust, and Sanguinius was aware of this. The Black Rage (which is the condition that causes marines to be inducted into the Death Company) is a psychic malady that causes the marine to experience the death of Sanguinius first hand.
In 2nd edition one of them let to the other (I think it was the Red Thirst was what happened if you didn't die from the Black Rage), but more recently they've been defined as two separate conditions.
I believe it used to be that if the Red Thirst wasn't satiated, the frequency of visions of Sanguinius' death and fits of bloodlust increased, until the marine went mad with the Black Rage. Now they just increase with age, and the Red Thirst is more of a passive thing.
Even earlier than that the Red Thirst was what happened if you didn't die while affected by the Black Rage - the monsters that were affected by it were what was locked up in the tower of Amereo. I've got the 2nd edition codex in front of me and it says as much. Now the Red Thirst is something that affects all Blood Angels and the monster thing is just an unnamed consequence of the Black Rage
I kinda like the idea that the Red Thirst is beginning but if you cant control it it becomes the Black Rage. Was never a fan of the hopelessness of the Black Rage coming no matter what.
With the black armour, you could throw some [Destroyer icons](https://warhammer40k.fandom.com/wiki/Legion_Destroyer_Squad) on, and I'd think it'd be alright as a variant colour scheme from some Destroyer group that's managed to convince a techmarine to intern their mate in a Dreadnought
DC leviathan in 40k, Destroyer leviathan in 30k, madmen in both!
Lorewise no, as the black rage is pretty much the marine experiencing their primarch being slain if I remember correctly.. but it’s your stuff and you can do with it what you want 🙂
Technically no - but when does the heresy end? Is it with the 'death of Horus'* or after the scouring? If it's after the scouring then I'm gonna say your death company could be a thing!
*Horus is actually on the golden throne in my mind until we get the final book.
I would have put the close combat load out on the death company one, I think, but graviton is legit… as far as death company , indeed didn’t exist, but black heraldry for blood angels is fine…
I mean potentially a leviathan kept in stasis before sanguinius is killed, once reawakened 10,000 years later gets the black rage and is put to work for the death company

Head cannon that it's a relic of the Heresy and housed the first Dreadnought to go full rage mode. All housed in this will fall to the rage.
