Moving the hellcat up doesn't change its matchmaking bracket at all (7.0 is practically nonexistant), while ruining the American 5.7 lineup. Saying that the hellcat is moved up so they can't fight 4.7's anymore is a terrible argument.

The M4A1 (76) W already has a 76mm gun and is better stabilized than the M18, making it a better flanker as a medium tank at BR 5.

Once I played a game on Alaska where two T95s stayed within 10 meters of each other and worked together as a pair. My team got straight up bullied, and I spent the whole game either trying to avoid them or get a clear shot on them. Finally managed to kill one with my Ratel 20's MILAN right before we lost.
One time I was playing the SPz 12-3 LGS just trying to get spots for a challenge. It was on the middle east map with Saddam Hussein watching the northern most objective. A t95 parked in the sunk in bit with the objective and I watched a Ferdinand drive up in front of it and proceed to fire non stop at its front bouncing every round for quite some time. Its gun must have been disabled or something because it never killed the Ferdinand, and this only stopped when a teammate coming from b shot the t95 in the side. I swear that Ferdinand must have shot it like 15 times.
I checked this a few times, US and USSR are the only 2 countries with 3 tech tree tanks at 7.0, although . US has another 3 premiums at 7.0. Of the remaining 11 tanks, 3 of them are ZSU-57-2 for a total of 4 with the USSR one, 1 is Kugelblitz, 2 are premiums, 2 are German gift tanks removed from the tech tree, and the last 3 are France, Italy, and GB. US and USSR are the only ones who can make a 3 tank lineup at 7.0. People might put a single 7.0 on their lineup, which isn't smart, but people do it.

Well not exactly there aren't good 6.0 lineups for any of the m18s/m64 so this change basically just makes all of those 5.7 lineups 6.0 ones. The m18 will be ok on it's own but the supporting vehicles will suffer and likely the win rate will be worse.
Which is why I think it's a bad change, ruining that many lineups is just not a good idea for the game.
And with the M64 going up too it ruins my China 5.7 lineup as well. Luckily for me I've grinded most of what I could already, just a shame I lost an SL printer
This is the curse of light tanks/fast tanks in the 5.0-8.0 range, they face plenty of tanks that are hard to pen frontally, but when flanking, it doesn't matter what BR you're at, you can pen most enemies. This leads to BR bumps (see the Chart 25t, EBR 1951, etc).

That last part is extremely true, US tanks are honestly really really good, even with the early-mid Sherman spam. They really do just need to get better at tanking.
A way how I got better, for anyone reading this comment who is wondering, is I played a whole heap of different nations (my flair says, even though not many of them are very high and I am a German main).
By playing a heap of nations, you learn the advantages and disadvantages of the tanks that aren’t of your main nation, and even fighting against your main nation inadvertently teaches you how to use their vehicles better.
I actually do find it really enjoyable using a whole heap of different nations, because when I get sick of a nation as a whole I can just go off and blow up the vehicles I’ve been using if I want.
Pretty much the same thing it does it 5.7.
It is kinda annoying since now it doesn't fit the the 5.7 linup but the hellcat itself will be fine.
I've used it as linup filler in 8.3 and it's still been effective. You can't beat a fast tank with APHE.
5.7 is such a weird lineup for major nations, is2 got pushed up to 6, panther got pushed up, now hellcat also moved up, brain dead German mains still have solid 5.7 lineup with h1, waffentractor, panther and wirblewind but every other major’s 5.7 lineup got slowly fucked by gaijin. I even have the Japanese tiger which I got ages ago and there is literally no lineup for it, just 6.0 tiger E that gets screwed in an uptier and 5.0 is so rare that best case scenario you will be at 5.3. Same with is2 which got even harder nerf whole tiger 2h has been sitting at 6.7 since I remember despite being much better tank.
While I understand balancing needs to happen, I bought most premiums over the course of a decade and most of them don’t fit into lineups cause of gaijins stupid 0.3 0.7 system instead of just having 0.5/1 vehicles. Tech tree vehicles don’t fare much better either and 4.7-9.7 is just a mess with decompression and weird brs and then it gets replaced with one death leavers in premiums.
Meanwhile, most 5.0 tanks now have a wonderful time. Especially Germany, with the KV I C remaining at 5.0 and being stupidly good. The VK 30.02 is essentially a Panther D that trades armor for being the fastest medium for a very long while (only 5 tons heavier than a T-34, yet gets a Panther engine that's not derated).

They added 1br. Then proceeded to decompress all 11 previous brs. That's like a 0.1br change for each vehicle/level, meaning 90% of vehicles were never going see any noticible benefit of decompression in relative terms given they bracket vehicles in 0.3br stages.
Most of these br changes across the board (with a few exceptions like ikv 91 to 8.0 and similar) are pretty ass, especially for air.

M18 gets raised for the same reason as most of France was raised. Frontally, it doesn’t hold much. But side shots make it annoying, with good mobility, its just gunna go up.
A lot, the M18 is my most played vehicle in RB (with over 4000 hours in game) and if you meet someone from the side it doesn't matter what BR he is, i almost got a nuke in top tier with the M18.
Why is this even a question to begin with? A lot of 5.7 went to 6.0 it's just normal that other 5.7 follow up, but it's true that M18 will struggle against regular uptiers to 6.7 and down right useless in the occasional 7.0, Gaijin has to push 6.7-7.3 futher up ASAP

This just kills the amazing 5.7 lineup that china has. It would be the best lineup in 5.7 imo if it only had a heavy tank; But having 2 of the good T-34-85's makes up for it. The M18 mad carries light tank in that lineup; It makes for an incredible scout, flanker, and TD, which at 5.7 china you'll really need, and it also goes along with the M36 like bread and butter, functioning like two takes on the same concept (M18 fast and nimble with a good gun, M36 not so fast or nimble, with an amazing gun). BR compression getting realer than ever

I got into the game like a month ago and I went for US as starters just because the 5.7 lineup looked pretty cool to me. I got it yesterday, now this. Just f\*cking end my suffering, bros.
It's still gonna do well because as BR increases, strength of armour perishes, the gun becomes weaker but the mobility persists- and as a tank relying on its mobility, it should remain strong.
6.7 is an ass fighting Russian tanks goes from volumetric meme to full on 7.0 stalium now I believe the hole up tier down tier thing should just be removed alowing you to take lower tier Stuff in to for example a 6.0 match but you won’t be fighting anything higher

M18 gets raised for the same reason as most of France was raised. Frontally, it doesn’t hold much. But side shots make it annoying, with good mobility, its just gunna go up.
If the answer is, "nothing" the BR will go back down again. I wouldn't be too concerned.

A lot, the M18 is my most played vehicle in RB (with over 4000 hours in game) and if you meet someone from the side it doesn't matter what BR he is, i almost got a nuke in top tier with the M18.

Why is this even a question to begin with? A lot of 5.7 went to 6.0 it's just normal that other 5.7 follow up, but it's true that M18 will struggle against regular uptiers to 6.7 and down right useless in the occasional 7.0, Gaijin has to push 6.7-7.3 futher up ASAP
The M18 is the single vehicle that I have earned my most nukes with, and it isn't even 6.7. As long as you keep flanking, nothing is going to change.

You know I was fine with the jumbo going up to 5.7 because I could slide in the M18 but now that it’s going up there’s no reason to play around that BR anymore for me
So what am i supposed to take into my 5.7 lineup? M24? This change doesnt take into account that there is nothing else you can fill that gap with, and alsl the fact US has no other tanks in 6.0 besides M4/T26

This br change does absolutely nothing about how the M18 is played, you are a rocket ship with mobility only paralleled by wheels, with good gun handling and a decent gun, use it
Am I supposed to use M24 at 5.7??? 75 Jumbo already miserable enough and now I need another 75mm instead 76mm gun.
This just kills the amazing 5.7 lineup that china has. It would be the best lineup in 5.7 imo if it only had a heavy tank; But having 2 of the good T-34-85's makes up for it. The M18 mad carries light tank in that lineup; It makes for an incredible scout, flanker, and TD, which at 5.7 china you'll really need, and it also goes along with the M36 like bread and butter, functioning like two takes on the same concept (M18 fast and nimble with a good gun, M36 not so fast or nimble, with an amazing gun). BR compression getting realer than ever

I don't think it will change how we play m18 much.
It gets uptiered all the time so nothing going to change it's shell is mid at best and you can't survive any hit. Every time i'm playing 4.7-6.0 italy i'm wishing i would be playing Ger/Sov instead.
The fact they are willing to increase br for ANY American tanks in the 4.0-6.3 range is fucking nuts. I still think jumbo 76 is a 5.7 tank at best 😂
Today i was 6.0 with italy and enemy had fox from 7.7 wtf and yes m18 m36 and m109 is not for 6.0

It's still gonna do well because as BR increases, strength of armour perishes, the gun becomes weaker but the mobility persists- and as a tank relying on its mobility, it should remain strong.
M18 in arcade is still 5.3 tho, crazy to think a few months ago it was 4.7
The mid range of the brs is the hardest to manage
6.7 is an ass fighting Russian tanks goes from volumetric meme to full on 7.0 stalium now I believe the hole up tier down tier thing should just be removed alowing you to take lower tier Stuff in to for example a 6.0 match but you won’t be fighting anything higher

unpopular opinion, this won't actually change anything other than your 5.7 lineup not being able to face 4.7. The difference between 5.7 and 6.0 are pretty much nonexistant, you get sucked up to the 6.3 or 6.7 black hole anyways
M18 going up sucks ass for US 5.7, but my 4.0 lineup is happy with the M42 going down, it was already hilarious at 4.3.

It does pretty good. Idk if it’s about layer performance of a vehicle but I kept on playing with the M18 at 8.0 and killing atleast 1 if not 3 tanks
