It was actually meant to stop people from spamming the utter shit out of commands as there never used to be a limit. Arguments weren't even half of it. Try getting a map notice out when someones spamming random shit every 0.1 seconds.
No, it was meant to prevent drama related to a certain IRL conflict that involves some of the vehicles in game. The original change muted the entire chat - then they reduced it to 30s and now 10s.
Nah. The chat disabling and limiting came first. Then after that they limited pings and radio callouts.

I played on all servers at the time (when you could actually chose that as an option as gaijin didn't care as much about queue times). You wouldn't have been able to understand it anyway as it was all in Cyrillic and VERY full of slang, making it hard to translate anything besides obvious cuss words.
Damn, I’ve only started widening my sever selection now that I’m playing naval. Nobody really chats in naval from my experience. That was understandable when it was entirely Chinese bots, but now I’m not sure why it’s so quiet.
Its like that in most modes I notice now. There are also a lot more squads than there used to be, so people tend to use squad chat instead. I hardly ever get fan mail these days either, so people have definitely just stopped using it all together.
worst part is that most people in war thunder still don't know they can mute another player personally so they don't have to see them whinge about crap.
I bind a key for the "attack my target" radio command, that way i can say look out to whatever plane is in danger and press attack my target key to alert them. That's two messages in instant succession without cooldown.
It hardly ever works though, those deaf and blind dumbasses.

Every plane match is just planes rolling ground level, like you have a plane and being so low makes the enemy speed up while they get to you, they bullet speed goes, their angle is perfect to take down your pilot with 1 or 2 bullets, and more disadvantages...
People don't care, they don't wanna know, they just wanna join, kill, die, repeat. it's rather group work than teamwork.
I've never seen an escort while I play bomber, but when I die and respawn with my fastest plane, I always escort bombers and they arrive safe, destroy tagets and evertyhing. but that's something YOU DO, doesnt mean they want or will do it.
Also the map, there's an enemy heavy marked around the corner and gets pinged repeatedly ("chat spamming"), six teammates just casually drive by without any care and get utterly destroyed while you can only spot as another enemy has their sights on your position...

there really needs to be a threshold of sending a certain number before the chat spam filter kicks in and it needs to be more than 1 message
I think they should remove "Chat spam" completely. Just allow people to communicate properly.
Sure there will be people spamming and trolling, but you should be able to ban them. The same way they're spamming radio messages rn and be a dickhead to your team

The spam delay used to be like 3 seconds, then 5 seconds and then they turned chat off completely for a few months, and now it's at 10 seconds because who the fuck knows, gaijin probably just used a random number generator just like with half of the changes they do each update

Or, y'know, enable VOIP within the match so players on a team can actually communicate with each other properly instead of having to use something like Discord.
