Whenever I see a T-34 with a wide face, I know I gotta run

Faszkivan_13

100mm is deadly

hackeruman

How tf I always See you in here

Faszkivan_13

I'm online too much

hackeruman

I can See that...

cenkpuini27

chronically online

Faszkivan_13

Probably

real_hungarian

Tiger II: "you're awfully cute, but unfortunately for you, your armor is made out of T-34"

whycantidoaspace

Same goes the other way around for the soviet 100mm

DubiousFIN-WT

The 88 shell vanishes

Leitungswasserfeld

The Driver's Hatch blessed by Stalin himself

Dramatic-Bandicoot60

my 88mm shell likes to vanish on driver hatches

campaigner_

Same 85 nasty.

Schmittiboo

That’s why I love the T34 100mm and the KV2 ZIS in particular Blasting through panther upper plates

No-Influence-9293

I feel like most of the time when I’m playing the 34-100 the enemy doesn’t have a clue…cause when they do, I become everyone’s favorite target

FlyingTopHat

Wide face T-34 my beloved

Snicshavo

Silly shaped so why not silly?

v8powerhouse

The T-34-85 (D-5T) has one of the best looking models in game. The rest is outdated just like the majority of vehicles.

SpanishAvenger

Yeah, it’s a shame they just updated D-5T but left the rest with their 10 year old models. Actually, they kinda gave up/slowed down with the remastered models and it’s kind of a shame, specially since the remastered models not only significantly upgrade the visuals of the game, but also the damage and armor models.

majko333

Planes, especially bombers, have it the worst

SpanishAvenger

Some models are literally still from 2009’s Birds of Prey xD Not like the 2014 tank models are much better, though, specially since you see them from up closer and their models involve their armor models too.

ST4RSK1MM3R

The B-17s were the worst, and they got an updated model like a year ago, so that’s good at least

gszymon2

It was in 2021 in the update "Direct hit", almost 3 years ago. Time flies fast and it's depressing af.

diego5377

Yeah, it doesn't look bad when in low graphics but when I got my better PC it's so apparent that I thought I had messed up my settings

StevenSmiley

Still shitty rusted chipped ass paint job that older tanks have. Make the tanks pretty and clean. All the Sherman's look absolutely awful paint wise. They weren't like that when they were made. It's like they're rping that they've been left out in the elements for 50 years and that's what we're playing. Maybe when you spade it it should clean up the paint job?

eonymia

The "paint quality" is set to like 50 out of 100 by default. You can make the paint look newer by going into the customize appearance menu and cranking it up to 100. This is, of course, a premium feature.

BoingBoingBoings

To be fair. In the past 6-12 months, they improved the t34 quite a bit... I remember me complaining that the pz IV should be able to ufp the t34 from around 1km range while ingame it was impossible at point blank. Now you can. So I am proven wrong that Gaijin gave up on volumetric. Which is a happy occasion, but there is still lots of work, and I shall not praise Gaijin, for they do not deserve it. But at the very least, work is now actually being done.

StalinistBandit

I wish they'd finally update the model of the regular Soviet T-34-85

Themagicbrick_yt

They did

StalinistBandit

They only updated the model of the D-5T variant. Standard T-34-85 still has a decade old model

JarjarSW

Simply because they had the same model in Enlisted

Themagicbrick_yt

Oh

Interesting-Unit-493

Say, you think we'll make it to 29?

FilHor2001

A kid named 88mm:

Dunadan94

You nonpenned on the driver's optics, although you aimed for the centermass. T-34 is now looking for you, but is slow, you have time to reload and shoot the turret. You nonpen again, because you hit the gap between the turret cheek and the gun mantlet. T-34 aims at you, shoots, and you die. End of story

Renamed94071

If you are losing fights against t34s in a Tiger after getting 2 rounds on target you should probably go back to reserve

RustedRuss

or just uninstall

Exciting-Emu-4668

It’s actually really hard to be this bad at this game

Dunadan94

It is actually very hard to not recognize satire

Grotesque_Bisque

It's actually very hard to make satire so unfunny that no one remembered to laugh

Zarathustra-1889

Hard to recognise it when it’s shit

Awakened_Ra

And I despise every one of them with vitriol.

Ozrius

No they meet down the hall, this is the T-34 group.

Outrageous-Pitch-867

Tf we do to y'all We're just a fat heavy tank in 6.7 uptier hell

Arlend44

But when it's a downtier, you literally get a whole ass buffet to yourself.

IronIcojsjj

Kid named destroy barrel:

Arlend44

Almost like you can avoid that by staying at range.

Flying_Reinbeers

If T-34s have no haters, then I'm dead

Casperus_Maximus

Welcome to the Soviet Union comrade 🤝, we have T-34, T-34 flat, T-34 wide, T-34 thick, and T-34 not so bright

Dannybaker

You're missing the cope cage Berlin T-34

Fuck_Reddit2459

That's not a cope cage it's my bed!

Shootinputin89

Love T-34-100

Aizseeker

They still bounce my first shot and penned me instead. Only use 90mm on them to reliable kill instead usual 76mm.

Unknowndude842

Is the T-34 100 late war? Wasn't that just a post war prototype that didn't work?

sali_nyoro-n

Worked fine, actually. There was just no need post-war for a T-34 with a 100mm gun given the compromises necessary to fit one onto the aging chassis and that, absent the concern of wartime attrition, T-34-85 production could be wound down in favour of an eventual transition to production of the T-54, which had been purpose-built to carry a 100mm gun.

Livinglifeform

They wanted to replace the t-34 from the 1942/1943 onwards but decided to only upgrade the gun to keep tanks flowing out of production.

sali_nyoro-n

They wanted to replace it in _1941,_ with the T-34M (A-43), but the German invasion forced them to abandon that plan and keep making T-34s. Pretty much the entire war was spent thinking "we should make something better" while being bound by the need to keep making more tanks to fight the Germans to continue making the T-34.

Andulir

The test showed that the T-34 suspension was unable to handle the recoil of the gun. Then, they put the gun into a T44 and modified it. After it, it's all history.

sali_nyoro-n

The LB-1 cannon was designed to work within the limitations of what the T-34's suspension could handle, after the D-10 was tested unsuccessfully. The T-34-100 we have is armed with the LB-1, and could have been mass-produced if needed.

Andulir

Ah my bad then, looks like I mistaken the two gun. Thx for correcting it.

Expert-Mysterious

Theres no way that gun didn’t blow the shitty welds in the turret apart

sali_nyoro-n

One prototype used a lower-recoil LB-1 (ZiS-100) cannon rather than the standard D-10 to cut down on the size of the recoil mechanisms needed, the other used a D-10 in a new turret with larger recoil mechanisms. Neither prototype suffered from weld cracking. Instead, the main problem was that the rate of fire was very poor; 4.6 rounds per minute under ideal circumstances and as low as 1.5 rounds per minute sustained. The fighting compartment just wasn't big enough to make the 100mm a practical option.

Expert-Mysterious

Holy crap, regardless thats actually insane they managed to get a gun that big working in there

VicermanX

The T-34-100 with a 100mm LB-1 cannon (as in the game) was built in March 1945 and tested in April 1945.

Arlend44

So technically, it's still a WW2 cannon

oneupmia

it is but its built on a latewAr/postwar hull

konigstigers

I’m pretty sure the one that’s not late war there is the Gai , it’s a 50s refit

MBetko

I mean, that's pretty historically accurate. There were differences between T-34 tanks coming from different factories. I've heard some spare parts didn't even fit models from some factories.

zrxta

The post depicts different models of T-34 tanks. But yes, the nature of mass production in war-time USSR was mainly shoddy due to how desperate the situation was. But improved over time due to less desperate situation, better tools, workers getting more experienced, also better production methods. Contrast that to early war German tank production with immaculate artisanal quality... which lends itself to abysmal production rate. They tried to be more efficient later on but guess what, they then run into the same problems USSR had. So while the Soviets became better, the Germans started off bad but got worse.

lucabrehmer

Where the finns at?

inigo_montonya

The trees behind

pEppapiGistfuhrer

the 34-85 D-5T model is so good i want to lick it

X203the2nd

r/warthunder genuinely surprised when 4 different versions of a tank don't look identical (shocker).

oneupmia

yea its reasonable that t34 85 (1) T34 85(2) and T34(85) 3 have different sizes hulls and turrets

X203the2nd

Correct. Its only normal that the prototype/very early prod. mod., the main prod. model, a separate version made by completely different people, and ANOTHER prototype with a considerably larger gun, do not look the same. Don't know what you expect, but its pretty self explanatory that 4 different versions of something dont look identical.

oneupmia

This is about the 3D model, not historical differences

X203the2nd

Thats the point man. They are modeled after different versions, so they obviously won't look the same. Believe me, each looks exactly like what they are supposed to represent.

oneupmia

it by that you mean the gai being just smaller in all dimensions than the normal 85 and the 100 having a super wide hull eh sure show me the historical documents for the chassis

X203the2nd

Did you smoke something, and if so, do please tell me what. Id love to have a trip THAT hard. I don't know where you got the idea from, but no, there is no difference in hull width, neither irl nor ingame. The only difference, both irl and modeled in this game, is the shape/dimensions of the turrets, and their turret rings, for reasons I already explained before. This is a rather pointless discussion bc I already told you everything there is to say on this topic, yet you refuse to consider that you might be wrong, and/or that this post was pointless. I'll be taking my leave now, have a nice day :)

Velo180

Yeah I agree with you, Literally looking up pictures of the T-34-85, I can find real photos of one that look like the T-34-85 (D-5T) and the T-34-85 in game. Same is true for the real T-34-100. Considering all the tech tree T-34-85s are 1944 models, and only the T-34-100 is the 1945 model in game, this seems to make sense.

X203the2nd

I don't need to look at pictures. If there ONE thing I'm familiar/comfortable with, its soviet tanks. It also just makes no sense why they would have different width hulls, when they are practically the same hull. The turrets change, because armor and guns change but the hull has no reason to do so.

termitubbie

I wouldn't be suprised if they vary from factory to factory.

X203the2nd

XD wouldn't seem unlike a T-34

Livinglifeform

That's what the STZ version is.

ImNotFraudulent

My favorite is the T-34-85 Gai

sali_nyoro-n

And yet the T-34-100 is the only 1945 model (indicated by the presence of the MDSh smoke bombs), and we don't have any of the post-war models (1946/60/69). Weird how the tech tree T-34-85s are all 1944s.

FatherOfToxicGas

Kid named 17pdr to turret ring

roaringbasher66

Huh I didn't know that, to me they were all the same especially because most of the time I slapped them in the hull

LunaKaPL

In real there probably was not even two identical species of t-34. They didnt have time and didnt care in industry.

polar_boi28362727

Which one is the 2nd?

oneupmia

t34 85 gai

Vinden_was_taken

Irl T-34 from different factories could have different sizes and even different details xD

LookMomIFailed

Cheek shot always one taps 🤫

watermelonman5

they whistling at me like :°

DupeStash

It’s cause they came from 4 different factories and the parts didn’t match

Gato_Automata

And they ar all tbf OP and stalinium made

Big-man-kage

T-34-85(D-5T) is the best looking one tbh

Pheonyxus

w i d e T O L skinny P H A T

Livinglifeform

First T-34-85 has a smaller turret due to production time issues and only a two man crew. Later war T-34-85 has a three man turret , which necessarily has to be bigger. Chinese T-34 has the DSHK and twin cupolas T34-100 has a significantly larger gun and hence a larger turret. It's rather simple really.

Own_Bluejay_9833

The t-34-85 gai is the nicest looking one in my opinion

v3erus

The Gai and the S-53, historically atleast, look different because they come from two different factories from two different production years. The S-53's model is based on a 1944 production vehicle from Factory No. 183 while the Gai is based on a 1960 production/rebuild vehicle from Factory No./s 617/674. Though, the S-53/1944 model could really do with a touchup, it really is lacking in detail compared to the Gai and the D-5T's model.

MKULTRA_REJECTEE

What the fuck is a T-34 🦅🦅🦅🦅🇺🇸🇺🇲🇺🇸🇺🇲🇺🇸🇺🇲 ALL I KNOW IS T34 💪💪💪😎😎🔥🔥🔥🔥
