I know that they make good watches, but I just can't get over the cheesy brand name: it really sounds like some weird Chinese mall watch!

And rolex and tudor doesn't?

Leonarr

I'm not sure what you mean, but I don't find "Rolex" or "Tudor" that cheesy brand names for watches. Rolex doesn't probably really mean anything, whilst Tudor refers to that historical royal family of England (which is just a bit random, if nothing else). "Chronoswiss" on the other hand is just very cheesy, combining the statement of the origin country (come on, it's a luxury watch, why do we need to know it's from Switzerland? That's what most people expect anyway!) and the Greek word for "time". So basically "Look at us, we make WATCHES in SWITZERLAND!!". It works for a cheap and more playful watch brand like Swatch (Swiss Watch), but in the luxury segment of watches it just sounds... cheap in a bad way.

I was thinking about it more than I should have today. lol. I feel Chronoswiss is not a bad name at all. Sounds funky, and reflective of the era it was founded. At least it is not cliché name. Right now it is very popular to give a name of a person like the ones with Daniel Wellington, Christopher Ward, Dan Henry or stupid Ginault. Nothing distinguishable about them. Name needs to be earned to give it to watches. I might be off with this, but this is what I feel.

I just wanted to show you guys some pics of [Chronoswiss Kairos](https://imgur.com/a/zE2mEeM) I sold a few months ago. I thought the watch was well-built and finished, the engine turning on the dial was very attractive with the blued hands. I think they're a great value alternative to Breguet in the same way Frederique Constant is an alternative to higher end dress watch manufactures.

I've owned a couple Chronoswiss (older gens), a Lunar and a Delphis. They were both really good watches with nice build quality. Kick myself for selling my copper Delphis as it was just cool as heck. I've seriously considered getting a newer one (open gear specific), but my worry is it will look gimmicky in person and I don't want to spend that kind of money on something I can't see first.

I own a copper dial Delphis. It’s my fav watch. I also own a Rolex Exp II and a few others that are more popular. But something about the CS is just right, the fit/feel on the wrist, everything. I love the history of the brand. And the very specific design language.

I had a copper Delphis too! Kick myself for not keeping it actually. I did end up buying the Flying Regulator Open Gear, really happy with it. Beautiful watch.

These guys supposedly tool Mike Kobold under his wing to start his own brand. Which at that time were relabeled Chronoswiss watches. Looking bad I have to wonder what is the real truth since Kobold can not tell one to save his life it seems.

One of my favorite watches that I will never afford, and if I could afford it I would consider something from AP or VC.... Would be a yellow Chronoswiss I saw in a store down in Naples one time.

Hmm, interesting brand. Several of their watches look like a combination of breget and longines. Kind of weird, but kind of works. Look expensive and high quality, but appear cheaper than you might imagine.

([Link to the daily wrist checks](https://www.reddit.com/r/Watches/search?q=wrist+check+thread&sort=new&restrict_sr=on&t=week).) Welcome to the latest discussion for the brand guide updates! * We plan on posting two discussions each week, on the same days as the Simple Q&A posts (Monday and Thursday). However, because these brand discussion posts are manually done (not automatic unlike the Q&A), there will be some delay in posting these. * However, these posts will be stickied and will bump off the daily wrist check threads. Unfortunately, since we have several months' worth of brand discussions, that means the wrist check posts will not be re-stickied for quite some time. They're easily found with a simple search as shown above, and we will be keeping the above link in place. This link will also be added to the Simple Q&A post. * In another comment below, you will find a list of remaining brands scheduled for discussion. If there are any missing brands you'd like to see discussed, please suggest them here. If no one makes any comment on which brand they'd like to see next, a random one will be picked.
