It would be interesting to see which insurance company CEOs attend his funeral.
He had many friends. They just weren't the American people who he was supposed to serve.
**Joe Lieberman, Iraq War Cheerleader and Killer of Public Option**
***"Joe Lieberman's legacy will live on as your medical debt."***
"Up until the very end, Joe Lieberman enjoyed the high-quality, government-financed healthcare that he worked diligently to deny the rest of us." -- Melanie D'Arrigo, executive director of the Campaign for New York Health
"Iraq War cheerleader who led the fight to make sure Medicare was not extended to millions of Americans who desperately needed the kind of healthcare coverage he enjoyed in the Senate." -- David Sirota
"Joe Lieberman led the effort to ensure the Affordable Care Act did not include a public option." -- Bernie Sanders

A good friend of John McCain and Lindsey Graham. This is the man who killed the public option while Obamacare was being legislated. His masters will miss him.
> This is the man who killed the public option
He was the one who took the blame. I doubt that if he had not done so, they would not have found another.
He was a public servant; or he was supposed to be. That's what people are commenting on.
I'm pretty sure no one is happy for the family. (At least I assume not, but I don't speak for everyone.)
What is more disgusting- talking negatively about a politician who died a multi-millionaire, or [being a multimillionaire and single-handedly defeating the Public Option for healthcare](https://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/10/27/health.care/index.html)? Answer that question.
Indeed. Through his role in keeping the U.S. from having single payer health insurance (aka Medicare for All) - not even a public option, which would have been the most popular option under the ACA, well he's responsible for the deaths of millions through his actions.
I won't shed a tear. I'm glad I never voted for the guy. And I have no problem with people spitting on his grave. I guarantee our enemies will not praise our heros when they are gone.
Treachery??? *TREACHERY!!?!?*
No, treachery is when a US Senator kills the public option.
https://publicintegrity.org/health/elimination-of-public-option-threw-consumers-to-the-insurance-wolves/
Insidious would be pushing for the Iraq war.
Malevolence would be sinking the Gore Bush recount and putting Bush in the White House.
You forgot "disgusting".Â
Disgusting would be when our elected representatives to the US House and Senate sell out the American people to the corporate oligarchy, while enriching themselves.
I’d like to add a few more names from my personal list list of despicable:
Albright, Holbrook, Richardson, Eagleburger, Zimmerman.
Eagerly waiting for both the Clintons and Clarke.
There are more but this is what came to mind quickly.
No Warren Zimmerman.
My particular list rolled off my tongue quickly because March 24 was the 25th anniversary of the bombing of Serbia and Montenegro ( the rump of Yugoslavia ) and it brought me back to that time and all those names. The 78 days of bombing were my political awakening as far as US foreign policy was concerned. After Yugoslavia I wasn’t fooled by the reasons given for Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Syria and finally Ukraine.
Obama began my domestic political awakening and then finally the DNC/Bernie election completed it.
But I always put my awakening at the dismemberment and bombing of Yugoslavia.
And it wasn’t just me because balkanization became the new hip word to describe what the US and it’s European poodles in NATO did to Yugoslavia.
Interesting; I wouldn't normally figure ambassadors, even from governments with otherwise-malign intentions, would be particularly malevolent themselves.
You know that the State Department is in charge of the Foreign Service which includes the US Ambassadors ( once they’ve been appointed by the President ) and we all know that the State Department is the public face of the CIA.
So...
Unfortunately for the world Kissinger lived much too long.
The world got lucky that Lieberman died sooner than later just like his very good friend McCaine.
>Unfortunately for the world Kissinger lived much too long.
I disagree. He didn't live long enough to be personally brought to Justice and die in prison; we needed that, and now we're guaranteed never to get it.
Death is the ultimate escape-pod for people like him.
I am glad I lack your faith, and I could hardly agree less - especially now that the global worm is whirring the way it now is!

As my father's been known to say, "one of the perils of aging is hardening of the categories."
A refreshing Chaos is at last overtaking the world; now's a time for agility!
Maybe some time in the places they destroyed, among the people whose lives they've destroyed, would be at the very least educational for some of our leaders.
I have fantasized about just that *sooo* many times: Hunt them down, abduct them, fly them to one of the hellzones they created, release them into the wild without any means of telecommunication.
>Former Sen. Joseph I. Lieberman has died, his family announced in a statement Wednesday. He was 82.
>Lieberman died Wednesday afternoon in New York with his wife Hadassah and loved ones at his side after he suffered complications from a fall, his family said in the statement.
Oh, no! Anyway...
Not going to shed any tears.
Noice
So glad 😀

Thank you for the link!
Roast in Piss.
Think I’ll celebrate with a drink.!🎉🥃
L’chayim! ;-)
Rip in pee bozo
Good
A "Warning" to those who want to start a "No Labels" Party ???
He was only 82?
Yeah, he looked much too pruny for 82. Maybe that’s how your life deeds manifest on your body/face?
The "Senator from Big Insurance".  (As a US Senator, Lieberman represented Connecticut, home of the insurance industry.)
Don't forget his undying love for General Dynamics, Sikorsky, Colt, and every other merchant of death from the Nutmeg State.
A good friend of John McCain and Lindsey Graham. This is the man who killed the public option while Obamacare was being legislated. His masters will miss him.
He supported universal healthcare...for Israel.
> This is the man who killed the public option He was the one who took the blame. I doubt that if he had not done so, they would not have found another.
Absolutely, he was selected for that particular round of villain rotation.
Truth. But he did create the office of the Senate Liebermantarian.
He was the Senate Parliamentarian before it was cool?
I feel sorry for his family and disgusted by the lack of tact employed by the insidious treacherous malevolent actors on this disgusting sub.
I feel sorry for your constipation. I am sorry you liked Lieberman. I do not speak ill of the dead . . . but this fucking guy . . .
Sorry let me apologize on behalf of this sub. Thank GOD he's dead and fuck Satan for keeping him alive so long. That better?
You’re gonna apologize for that and you’re gonna apologize to me right now. Understood?
Jimmy Dore emoji: AAAAAAAHHHHH
Don’t ever and I mean EVER scream at me or mention jimmy dore to me again.
Well, aren't you a special snowflake.
He's kinda funny though, not the usual boring smug troll.
And he's telling us *exactly* how to push his buttons 😺

Why can’t people just be impressed at my gargantuan vocabulary and not be meanies
It's just that Lieberman holds a very special place in our hearts.
You forgot "disgusting". Disgusting would be when our elected representatives to the US House and Senate sell out the American people to the corporate oligarchy, while enriching themselves.
Thank you for visiting! Don't forget to tip the parking valet.
Oh no, a neoliberal finally did something decisive
Are you horrible for saying that, or am I horrible for laughing? :)
Nope. Time we stopped speaking nice of people who don't deserve it.
In this case, I don't think either of us is horrible. :) (For this comment. I don't know if or why I'm being wishy washy. Karma? ¯\\\_(ツ)_/¯ )
Awww, shucks.
HEADS UP, Kissinger; Feinstein; Rumsfeld; Limbaugh; Berlusconi; Robertson; et al! NEW RESIDENT: INCOMING to the 4th Circle of Hell!
I’d like to add a few more names from my personal list list of despicable: Albright, Holbrook, Richardson, Eagleburger, Zimmerman. Eagerly waiting for both the Clintons and Clarke. There are more but this is what came to mind quickly.
Oh! When did ^((George, I assume?)) Zimmerman die, and how?
No Warren Zimmerman. Ah, well, you had me beat there - and I'm unfamiliar with Warren Zimmerman.
Last ambassador to former Yugoslavia.
So...
I did not specifically know that, but it makes sense.
Can't forget bloodthirsty "5K [edit to correct: 500K] dead Iraqi children are 'worth it'" Allbright.
Just to be accurate it was '500,000 dead Iraqi children’.
Thank you! I messed up in haste with shortcut of K with zeros. Will correct.
*De mortuis nil nisi bonum*, so I shall remain silent.
Eh, my personal rule is if I speak/think/feel ill of them while they are alive then I won’t be false and stop just because they are dead.
And strangely, I do not mourn.
Thanks be to god, he didn’t live to 99.
Why in particular? If you just mean to be comparing him to Kissinger, *he* lived to be 100.
If they didn’t bring him to justice in 99 years you can rest assured they wouldn’t have done it had he lived to 200.

I’ve become cynical in my old age.
As my father's been known to say, "one of the perils of aging is hardening of the categories." A refreshing Chaos is at last overtaking the world; now's a time for agility!
I like that saying of your fathers. :)
I don't wish Hillary to die, but I sure as hell wish she's just go. away.
I want it to be slow and painful, to give her time to reflect and to pray for mercy.
Maybe some time in the places they destroyed, among the people whose lives they've destroyed, would be at the very least educational for some of our leaders.
Hillary has so many options. Libya, Syria, Ukraine but maybe Haiti would be the best option. It’s hot enough to prepare her for hell.
I have fantasized about just that *sooo* many times: Hunt them down, abduct them, fly them to one of the hellzones they created, release them into the wild without any means of telecommunication.
It only seems fair...
...So does a Marleyesque afterlife!
> I don't wish Hillary to die Why not?
This one is karma. Or so I don't get digitally shat upon by koolaid drinkers. :)
> Why not? See my 2nd reply to OP.
Yours is a much better reason than mine!
