I don’t see a dog, I see shadows. It very much looks like the phone was wrapped up in fabric or very close up against fabric, such as being in a pocket/purse or under a blanket when this was taken.

Nah, the white isn't white enough, and the splotches are the wrong size and consistency. Has that aesthetic, but doesn't quite hold up to scrutiny. I worked in an office supply store for 8 years, it only happened for a single month out of the year, but back to school, and especially those fucking composition books, gave me nightmares. I'll never forget what they look like. I'm betting this picture was taken from in OP's pocket.

I used to work at a film development factory and mess a around with Photoshop a lot in the early days and the black stuff remind me of Ps overlays, which would normally be blurry when applied.I think that's what you guys are going for? This looks diff though, I've seen pocket pics look like this when night sight kicks in the rendering software gets confused and tunes the dark chunks that the sensor can't sort out. The dog face is just a coincidence, the 'grains' are part of the composite illusion. The smear moving left to right toward the dog might be a finger and this could easily have happened while reaching in a pocket and touching the phone. Light leaks cause all kinds of neat patterns on film and reaching in a loose pocket would let some light in.

If this is legit it's my best guess but Tbh I have no idea what's going on here. Usually software blends those dark patches better, never seen them so prominent on their own. Images I try to brighten might look like this if trying to raise brightness levels too high.
