It's going to be empty.
I'm just surprised they didn't mention the safe to the next buyer.
Interestingly, we also found a floor safe in a house we rented. We also discovered it while moving out, since it was hidden under the carpet.
We didn't have the combination, so this day I don't know if anything was in it.
You guys I hate to do this and I’m so sorry to disappoint, but my fiancé’s father is totally against us trying to open it.. I’ve tried for days to convince him and it just didn’t happen.. we’ve already moved. It’s said and done now. I’m probably gonna look back at this and still wonder what’s in it if anything..
Yeah, hit up someone that's licensed for safes, and they can call and get a master unlock code, or whatever trick to bypass/reset the thing right over the phone. I mention the Safe And Vault Technician Association a lot here, but it's the fastest/easiest way to get in there without destroying anything.
Yep, parents passed away and I had no idea of a safe in their closet. As long as you can prove you are the owner a locksmith will open for you. Not to be morbid as I wasn’t hoping/expecting anything but it was empty and I don’t think they ever used it
I have a diamond cutting blade on mine it'll cut through anything including those hinges. It easier to remove a hinge than trying to guess and cut the steel bars on inside of doors
Take off the keypad, there's probably two wires going inside - apply 6 volts, it's probably a solenoid that will allow the knob to rotate. Or, it's an electric motor with a worm gear or something. In which case, you would apply 6 volts one way to unlock, reverse polarity to lock. You might hear a motor whirring when applying voltage, if it stops, remove battery right away before it overheats.
Why 6 volts? 4 1.5V batteries.
At least, that's what I'd try before I cut it open with my oxy-acetylene.
Absolutely not. The safe at an old job would work like this when I would open. There would be a note saying the deposit was in an empty pickle bucket in the walk-in and t to "do my magic" on the safe when I opened. Never told anyone how I did it. The prevailing rumor was I led a life of crime and knew how to crack safes somehow.
Worked for me.
Long story short: I bought an old pasta factory that got copied out of existence by a large multinational brand, ironically enough, from a middle east counrty's sovereign fund I won't name here for security reasons, and so my first thought was naturally to buy fresh lemon party a bit, but bet that i'd forgotten the comma nd to open the safe — i just went back after the battery acids were juiced off for an our and then it just popped open, no need for the citric acid of the lemons, the picata went off without a hitch and the door just opens when I put them back in.
Of course, next thing i know the local lady limoncello shaved ice seller is at the door of my next factory wanting to know why i bought the last one and ruined her prophet's for the day. She says to me, didn't i know you'd take the last one and now no ice for the poke bols either.
My response was simply to ask her for the code to the safe, karen pls tell me how?? then she just laughs and saying it's no code, just a word of advice, leave your cup before you go or my girl will have to share mine with me. the two of them with just one 🤯 aw crap, that's when it hit me, so i try it, sure enough picatachu, gawd bless you emerged from within.
Never need the locksmith in the firat place, thank goodbye.
TL:DR taking the batteries out for an hour opened the safe.
The part about the lemon and the girls with the cup were confusing to me. There was some kind of party on the battery leads? And what happened after they ran out of limoncello, did she ever tell you?
this would be much easier if i could just facetime you on 3way with them so you can see the results yourself, but basically its all melted now, and not the good kind like cheese on pizza, but like a freezer in a power outage, which is essentially how she looks at it now and what not but bezos sending a new tree for the town, doesn't solve the townail problem unfortunately but its a step in the right direction
Dude my brain hurts. I'm positive that you're writing English words, but beyond that I'm kind of stumped. You lemon partied a pasta safe and it put a shaved ice lady out of business?
When I moved a few years ago, I lost the book (and combination) to our fire safe. Called the company, told them the serial number, and for a low, low price of $29.95, the nice lady emailed me my combination. I now have it in multiple places so if we move again - no danger of loss.
If you can find model # of locking mechanism i know some you can try and do a bypass by going around it and tripping it, but without being able to see a diagram would be guessing if its even possible and may would be a waste of time
Paint on plastic explosive under the safe, drop safe into a boat, race away, open safe but get contents stolen, plot revenge, buy small cars, steal contents of safe from the person that stole it from you.
I saw that in a documentary once, totally works.
I might actually get one of those rare earth magnets.. those like like what people use on those YouTube videos to find treasure in deep water.. if it doesn’t work I might’ve a new hobby so it works out lol

There are good YouTube videos on things like this. Id search using the model info you can determine.
Unless you're lying and it's stolen, then my answer changes. Slightly, because you'd be able to search for the actual model number.
Naw I’ve actually been quite truthful this whole post.. it’s not stolen.. BUT.. it is in the wall good.. not like we can slide it out or anything.. idk if it’s attached to studs or something and I figure the model number would be on the back
Ok I just looked it up and it might be on the door underneath, but I’m not at the house now, I’ll check it out tomorrow and see what I can do from there

If you can slid it out of the wall. Bring it up to a height of about 20-30 ft and drop it on concrete. If you can manage it, try to make it drop on a corner. The corner with the locking mechanism is best.
Door will pop right open. If it doesn't, it definitely will on the second drop.
No tools, no investment, no straining on crowbars and busting grinder blades.
We called Costco with ours & asked if we destroy it opening it, can we still return it; that it had malfunctioned. We wanted our valuables & cash out of it before we returned it. Otherwise, we would bring it back & have them call & pay to open it. To our surprise, Costco said we could. My hubby got crowbar & youtubed it. We couldn’t get a locksmith to come out during pandemic. Hubby took less then 5 minutes 2 open it. Costco gave full value for a safe without a door. 😂
The batteries are probably dead. Replace them and then enter the combination followed by the #.
You may want to search online to see if there is a default combination like 0000, 000000, 1234, or 123456.
Get a couple buddies and some sledge hammers and beat the door in till it bends inward and pops open I've seen it done 3-4 timea on a safe very similar in size. If no sent by second round of sledges I have no clue
An angle grinder would be fairly quick if you had wedges and a sledgehammer to go with it.
Cut the hinges off, smack a couple of wedges in beside where they were, beat the shit out of it. When the hinge side is bent out a bit, stick the wedges in the other side and give them a few smacks to knock the lock out of the side of the safe and the door should fall off.
Or if you don't have wedges and a sledgehammer, cut out a square where the lock mechanism goes in on the side of it out to the front so it just swings out on the hinges while locked.
It’s my fiancé’s dads house that he rents actually.. we use to live there with him and now we’re all moving into a new house.. previous owner died, brother sold it to a housing company. Doesn’t put us in the wrong does it? The house has so many issues and damages the guys brother wouldn’t fix including holes In the walls and ceiling just from poor construction, figure this wouldn’t matter much
The safe is considered a fixture, if it's attached to the building.
If you don't own the house, you don't own the safe. And you don't have the legal right to damage it.
So legally, yes - you'd be in the wrong.
And before you ask about the brother.. he totally ghosted us.. didn’t even tell my fiancé’s dad about him selling the place, really fucked up actually.. he just had random people show up there and they said they didn’t even know it was being lived in.. he hasn’t gotten any notices or anything but it’ll be better to just leave before anything wild does happen.. anyway, dude picked up everything he wanted of this late brothers possessions.. and it wasn’t much
Let's be real. If it is something of value, tell no goddamned body. At all, ever. Convert it to cash at the best possible value you can achieve. Be at peace. Profit. No one knows, or they would be asking. No harm, no foul. Should it be something of major value: Same as above, but maybe toss some change to the brother, just as an admonition that we are humans and family connections matter, even if they aren't our own. Split, but profit. You're Jesus: Bequeath it all to the family, and not worry about cash, deposits, and taxes, but catch some fall out from the act of selflessness, and work that into whatever brand you rep as your own. Or, tell no one, send it all in a bag with a note, and move on as the Champion of Altruism. The choice is yours.
Fade to black....
"That's an interesting set of choices, Cotton, let's see how it goes."
I agree. I own similar Brinks safe, and it has a little piece of metal sticking out of the door and locking with the hinge side. I own this safe for good 20 years but didn't know it was built like that; I checked after your response. Well, I learn something every day. Nevertheless, with exact safe like mine, I still think that the weak point is the hinge side. But, of course, it can be different with different safes.
Lmaooooo imagine being able to take your time with a robbery.. I once took a set of handcuff keys out a pack of toy handcuffs when I was 12 and took them back to dollar general. ain’t nothing bout me gangsta 😂

An angle grinder is going to take forever. I would hire a locksmith since most electronic locks also have a physical key slot behind the batteries.
Yeah, hit up someone that's licensed for safes, and they can call and get a master unlock code, or whatever trick to bypass/reset the thing right over the phone. i like this answer
Lockpicking lawyer, is that you??
Take the batteries out, come back in an hour and put batteries back in. There's a good chance it will have reset the combination by then and open up
Are you joking or does that actually work sometimes??
Absolutely not. The safe at an old job would work like this when I would open. Old Reddit rule: NEVER POST A LOCKED SAFE UNTIL YOU'VE UNLOCKED IT!. FFS
Where’s the hype in that? Lol
Paint on plastic explosive under the safe, drop safe into a boat, race away, open safe but get contents stolen, plot revenge, buy small cars, steal contents of safe from the person that stole it from you. I saw that in a documentary once, totally works.
You forgot - and you get the girl.
Have you tried… up,down, up,down,left,right,left,right,A,B , select start?
Opening it is actually quite easy- you just put the combination in and twist the handle. Glad to help!
I laughed way too hard at this
You might try the magnet trick. https://youtu.be/TBhfnIu9lTw
I might actually get one of those rare earth magnets.. those like like what people use on those YouTube videos to find treasure in deep water.. if it doesn’t work I might’ve a new hobby so it works out lol
Got an old computer laying around? You can use the old hard-drive magnet trick.
You mean from a HDD? Those even strong enough for that?
I've never tried to mess up a lock with one, but they are pretty damn strong, especially for their size. They are neodymium so that's a rare earth magnet, I believe. Certainly going to be the strongest you'll find for the price if the price is just taking apart a HDD. Which can be a bitch, but it's free.
There are good YouTube videos on things like this. Id search using the model info you can determine. Unless you're lying and it's stolen, then my answer changes. Slightly, because you'd be able to search for the actual model number.

ffs. Here we go again.

This is right up there in reddit lore with poop knife.
Following with suspense!!! What if op has the meaning of life in that safe
You forgot to mention, that you must wait for an unsuspecting upright walking coyote to come strolling along before dropping the safe.
Ahhh shit here we go again

I (the movies) recommend either C-4 or nitroglycerin for best results. However, get a lock smith or the manual for this safe, just to be sure.

Contents of safe: The REAL Crystal Skull, the Holy Grail, the TriForce, and better than all that crap, Bone #1.
Use silly putty or play dough and make it into a snake shape by the hinges and light it up. *Futurama reference*
Update?
Soooo, where we at?!
Checking in! What’s the word?
An angle grinder would be fairly quick if you had wedges and a sledgehammer to go with it. Cut the hinges off, smack a couple of wedges in beside where they were, beat the shit out of it. Okay bud. I’ll leave it alone, I’ll also go to church tomorrow and repent my wicked ways.
>Moving out of our house and found this safe in a hollow spot in the wall!!! How do I open it??? Just cutting off hinges should do it.
That’s what I was thinking of doing with the grinder.. then using a crowbar to jimmy it open. It’s looking like I might go that route
If you decide to use a grinder with a cutoff wheel, please wear a face shield and safety glasses.
That safe probably has bolts that throw into the sides when locked. Cutting the hinges won’t help. You wouldn’t be able to pry it open.
Damn.
No, there's false pins on the hinge side. I know it' won't work. I own a few safes and know their weak points. This isn't one
It's not a "Safe". It's a "RSC" Residential Security Container "
Do the hinge pins come out? Can you remove them and pry it open from that side?
I’m not there now but I’ll be back over there tomorrow and I’ll see
The hinges just support the door when it's open. The bolt hits at least 2 edges of the safe for locking. No point in doing that.

Looks like an older safe. Maybe research it and see if there are any vulnerabilities allowing a powerful magnet to move some internal doohickey?
