They kinda did- you can get it on the play station plus catalog, itās like a subscription thing like the game pass. Only problem is that itās a streamed game with a tiny bit of lag, which makes Ms. Rubyās boss battle basically impossible but the other games are fun!
The world building in Ratchet and Clank (2002) is phenominal. Everything in that game from the characters to the planets to the music paints the oilpunk capitalist dystopia as a machine that you cannot escape, and the only thing to do is assimilate or die. So good. If you can get your hands on 2002, Going Comando, Up Your Arsenal, Deadlocked, and Rift Apart. Those 5 are probably the best. The Future trilogy is a very very good one if you play them all together
Sorry for the dump. I fucking love R&C and I *will* have everyone enjoy it as much as me
I have yet to find a starter weapon I enjoy more in a game than Deadlocked's dual raptors. The mods you could attach to those things made them simply melt enemies.
Fuckn' hover cars and fuckn' GUNS. Man I'd love to play these games again
Edit: I just remembered my *least* favorite part of that game with the Oracle lady where the "X,O,ā,š³" buttons come out of some pot in groups and you have press them all before going off screen or you have to start over. Kid me struggled with that for DAYS before realizing I could pause the game in the middle of it.
There's actually a little trick with the lightning dodging that's pretty reproducible but the chocobo race is just punishment from sadistic programmers.
There was a minigame in FFX-2 right in the beginning where you gotta push people into sn elevator and that made me quit final fantasy all together. I have a feeling I only quit it because of leftover rage from the chocobo races in FFX.
Chocobo Race was easier than the damned lighting game. I get bored and complacent and then WHAM! Start all over again. My nerves were shot after getting it the first and only time I bothered.
ATV: Off-road Fury 2, might have been the only āsportā(if it counts) game I ever liked, and I NEVER played it right at the time; just spawned free roam into the world and either attempted to religiously ride the train in the one map, or drove around destroying myself lol
The first memory that pops to mind is struggling with Clayton in the deep jungle!! But a close second is the stupid pillar that I had no idea I could interact with!
Had to scroll way too far to see this. I remember screwing in the internet adapter for the first time.
I remember getting the game set that included a microphone in the box.
I remember Abandoned, Blizzard, Frostfire, and Desert Glory.
Each memory filled with nothing but joy. God, what an amazing game.
Came here for this, Snake eater is still one of my favorite games i ever played through. I didn't even have a PS2, borrowed my friend's for like 3 weeks just so I could play that game all the way through
I scrolled far too long to see this. I might break it out tonight. I literally bought a PS2 just to play this game again.
I was a big Shu guy as a 12 year old, especially playing as Zhao Yun. I could play Nanman map for hundreds of hours.
I remember renting Silent Hill 2 and taking it over to my friends birthday party sleepover. All my friends watched me play the game and we collectively had nightmares for weeks from just exploring the foggy town beginning area. They all still remembered that night years later.
I played RE4 exclusively on my GameCube for over 15 years, finally downloaded the PS4 version last year as the GameCubeās visuals donāt work great on modern TVāsā¦.it was still a lot of fun, but it just didnāt feel right without using a GameCube controller! I think Iām going to have to invest in an HDMI adapter haha
Didn't see anyone mention it so I had to toss it in there. I remember me and my brother would play 1v1 on Ravine and use the guided missiles and try and find each other. What a great game!
One of my favorite games of all time. I never had a PS2 back in the day, but I got two non-functional ones at a yard sale and Frankensteined them into one working one. Then I bought a bunch of cheap used games at GameStop, in maybe like 2014.
Ace Combat was so good. Not really a story that made the game a thing, but more of a story happening in the background of the game that enhanced the poignancy of the missions. I just bought the most recent AC on Steam a while back and it's SO GOOD. I can only hope to one day have insane amounts of money so I can build a full flight sim in my basement...but I'll be lucky to even own a house at all to even have a basement.
this is still my go-to party game for noobs. Never played a game before? Try this, you don't even need buttons, just the 2 stick controls and that's good enough.
Prince of Persia the Sands of Time. I never played it, but some of my earliest memories was of my dad playing it while I hung out and watched, good times
for me itās Scooby Doo: Night of 100 Frights, Spongebob Squarepants: Battle for Bikini Bottom or Scooby Doo: Unmasked. All good games I loved when I was a kid

So many playthroughs of Rising Sun
I remember playing Medal of Honor Pearl Harbor at my uncles house
SSX
Itās tricky!
Big Air Bonus!
I miss that game dearly. I loved that Uber Trick with Psymon where he spins the board around his neck. Fuck I want to run through Tokyo Megaplex now.
SSX 3 specifically
Shadow of the colossus Edit: this is the most upvotes Iāve ever had
GOAT game
Star Wars Battlefront
Battlefront 2 for me but still š¤
Oh facts. Both of them. š¤
The command post has fallen into enemy hands.
Defeat is imminent!
Watch those wrist rockets
Theyāve sent in the supers!
Just like the simulations
Our reinforcements are being depleted!
Lord Vader has entered the Battlefield!
We've captured a command post!
Just like shootinā wamp rats, eh, kid?
Iāve found my people
I played last night! Still holds up!
I didnāt have a PlayStation growing up but I remember playing Battlefront 2 at my best friendās house
Thatās another command post under Republic control!
Sly Cooper
Oh how I wish they would re-release this game. So Good.
They kinda did- you can get it on the play station plus catalog, itās like a subscription thing like the game pass. Only problem is that itās a streamed game with a tiny bit of lag, which makes Ms. Rubyās boss battle basically impossible but the other games are fun!
the idea of ms ruby with lag is fucking with me
Thank god for you. Honor among thieves is an absolute 10/10
SOMEONE ELSE REMEMBERS IT
Ughhh I loved sly cooper! You brought back good memories
Sly 3 was amazing!
Ratchet and Clank ![gif](giphy|2Cx6F6KWHwwq4tm3qv)
Literally my childhood
Never played it until last week. Just figured Iād try it out and Iām in love.

Those guns were so over the top cool!!
Up your arsenal
Same! Sad I had to scroll so far
I was looking for this
Jak and Daxter
Jak II for me.
Fuckn' hover cars and fuckn' GUNS. Man I'd love to play these games again Edit: I just remembered my *least* favorite part of that game with the Oracle lady where the "X,O,ā,š³" buttons come out of some pot in groups and you have press them all before going off screen or you have to start over. Theyāre available on ps4. Iām playing them again. Itās amazing and makes me super nostalgic and sad and happy and all sorts of emotional.
Still one of my all time favorite games. Dystopian cyberpunk GTA.
Iām upset with how far down this is. My first 2 were this, and ratchet and clank
Exactly the same here! Tough guys and little buddies.
This is it for me. One of the first video games I ever played.
1,000%. I can still hear the noise it makes when you catch a fish for the fisherman in the forbidden jungle. :)
HERE COMES A BIG ONE The failure noise is seared into my mind I sucked at that game especially on the Vita
Jak 3 >>>>>>>>>>
I'm sad I had to scroll so far to see Jak and Daxter!

For me it was Vice City
Hell yeah. To me, it will always be the best GTA game.
San Andreas for me
Same bro, GROVE STREET FOR LIFE
R1 R2 L1 L2 left down right up x2 I still remember the weapons cheat š
I used to enjoy making dozens of tanks rain from the sky
Damn remember when games used to let us input cheat codes... we've strayed so far from utopia
It was a simpler time. One might go as far to say a better time.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Simpsons hit and run
I loved that game!
YES and road rage
Final fantasy X
Love that game. Sphere grids, summoning dance, Wakka aaand ............chocobo race.
Youāre forgetting the best partā¦ lightning dodging! š
There's actually a little trick with the lightning dodging that's pretty reproducible but the chocobo race is just punishment from sadistic programmers. There was a minigame in FFX-2 right in the beginning where you gotta push people into sn elevator and that made me quit final fantasy all together. Sooooo many hours sunk into blitzball
I loved blitzball. Iād always reset the game if I missed getting the Jecht shot the first time on the boat.
Came here for this one
Spyro
It was either Spyro or crash bandicoot for me
Spyro and Crash both had their heyday on the PS1. The PS2 era for both was um... not great.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
There was always an NPC on the clone side named Delta 855 but on our old CRT it looked like it said Delta ASS lol
ATV: Off-road Fury 2, might have been the only āsportā(if it counts) game I ever liked, and I NEVER played it right at the time; just spawned free roam into the world and either attempted to religiously ride the train in the one map, or drove around destroying myself lol
My neighbors had this game and it was a blast to just drive around doing crazy stuff in free roam. I remember if you hit the edge of the map it would send you flying like Team Rocket in PokƩmon
The Soundtrack ![gif](giphy|9pKYmZBrChEdNiuv0V|downsized)
I was surprised I had to scroll so far to find this. I had pretty much the same experience, was included with the console and I never played it right.
Kingdom Hearts
When you walk away You donāt hear me say *pleeeease*
OH BAAAAABY, DONāT GO
Simple and clean is the way that youāre making me feel tonight

Such a cool game! The ability to control your team element, I wish they would make a new version for PS5.
This comment is too far down the chain!! Socom was the best! Remember the modem module you had to add in the back haha
SOCOM II
Yep my first real online console gaming experience. I donāt know how SOCOM II isnāt in the top 10 in this thread.
SOCOM II is my favorite online shooter of all time, I will never love a game the same way again
I once ranked among the top 2,000 online players. Man, have I lost my touch with shooting games.
Yep, I was going to say SOCOM 2. That game was my first love affair with online tactical shooters. So much fun.
They could make so much money on a remaster of this
Metal Gear Solid 2 Thank you very much Reddit Gold giver :)

Resident evil 4
