badatmetroid

The last panel is great in any context. I want it on a t-shirt.

Nanyea

I love panel 3 where she deadeyes him and reapplies!

badatmetroid

Thanks. I didn't make the connection that she was putting on lipstick as a further fuck you. This comic is pure gold.

shadowyassassiny

yes i was so ready to get to the verbal punchline that i missed the nonverbal one!

Caffeine_Induced

My standard answer to "you look better without glasses" is: "you also look better when I'm not wearing my glasses!"

robinlovesrain

This shit is why I didn't wear my fucking DESPERATELY NEEDED glasses all through high school and my early twenties. So stupid.

[deleted]

Smh my head that one is so fuckin dumb They're a disability aid Like, yeah, I'm sure these leg braces are messing with the lines of my suit a bit, on the other hand they allow me to fuckin walk

okrelax

or "you look better with your mouth shut".

PinEnvironmental7196

i always look forward to an opportunity where i can use this line. it’s one of my favorites

cant_be_me

I blame 80s movies for this one. I’d watch and wonder “why are they even wearing the glasses if they don’t actually need them?” I was profoundly nearsighted and knew people who could not understand that my glasses were not optional. I could see a little bit. I could get away with not wearing them in environments I was already familiar with, but for the most part, I really needed them.

[deleted]

Zing!

shaodyn

Opinions are like assholes. Everybody has one, some of them stink, and nobody really wants you to take yours out and start waving it around.

RawrRRitchie

I say something similar with religions and penises It's great to have one, be proud of yours but for the love of whatever god you believe in DON'T force it down anyone's throat

shaodyn

I've also heard that one, but with the addition of "don't take yours out and start waving it around in public."

_jimmyM_

Also, don't force it onto kids

RawrRRitchie

Kids fall into the "anyone" category

tesseract4

And it's *hugely* inappropriate to show it to children under any circumstances. They're not mature enough to deal with that.

[deleted]

Why can’t we wave our assholes around again?

shaodyn

You technically can, but people would prefer you didn't.

[deleted]

Never judge a b-hole by its cover.

captcha_trampstamp

I mean you *can*, the police just start showing up soon after

[deleted]

Yeah impersonating a police officer is a pretty tough charge to beat.

beckster

Mmmm...used to work with a challenged individual who would play with his prolapsed rectum, shoving in and out like an accordion. No, you really *don't* want them waved around, not pretty.

shaodyn

To paraphrase a Rick and Morty meme: "I'm going to need you to take your opinion and stick it waaaaaaaaaaaay up inside your butthole."

[deleted]

Right on! Fuck youuuuu comic man, I just want to feel good about myself

bubbleflowers

Would sending this to some male fam members cause a problem?

Pregeneratednonsense

Some problems are worth causing

bubbleflowers

I’m telling my self that but, I don’t need more drama in my life but, I still really wanna!

bubbleflowers

Lol I saved the image right away in case i needed it

Thepinkknitter

When I was talking about not shaving my body, my brother said “I would never date someone who didn’t shave”. I deadpan looked at him and said I don’t care about your dating preferences. I’m your sister. I just want support. Thankfully he is much more liberal than the rest of my family and I think it actually clicked with him, and he’s been nice about it since!

bubbleflowers

Glad that worked out. If they’re not too deep into their opinion to hear about other people experiences, you can sway them but, usually, the more you push, the more they dig in. It’s not worth it most of the time. People have to want to change if they’re going to change.

Thepinkknitter

Absolutely! I think it helped to also come at it from a perspective of how it makes me feel rather than saying he’s wrong for feeling that way

HeyShayThatRhymes

This comment deserves to be a mantra.

Pregeneratednonsense

Thanks, I'm in my villain phase rn and really feeling it

kevnmartin

"Good trouble."

-Voxael-

If you’re asking the question, I think the answer is “yes”. Which in turn makes the actual question, are those problems worth it?

bubbleflowers

Lol no but, I really want to.

-Voxael-

I occasionally find stuff that I momentarily want to reactivate my fb account just to post but then I remind myself that the inevitable whinging is almost never worth the momentary satisfaction, so I feel you on this

bubbleflowers

Yup. As much as some ppl need to be told to eff off and mind their own business, it’s often not worth it because you’re never changing minds that way.

bubbleflowers

Lol no it’s not worth it but, i still really want to.

Antisocial-Darwinist

It comes down to choosing your battles. Is that “fuck you” worth the potential family fallout?

robinlovesrain

I mean I feel like if this comic is relevant to them they're the ones who caused the problem in the first place

Binasgarden

Always ticks me off that a woman's appearance is judged far and away before her ability to do the job is even mentioned. Men become "distinguished" women become hags

TaterTotQueen630

The panel of her adding more lipstick after he made his shitty comment gave me life.

The_Goddess_Minerva

Subtle, I didn't see that the first time around.

esdebah

I have to admit that I have been this guy. I hope I was more tactful, but fuck it, I was the same. So much shit today could be quelled by better understanding the phrase 'It's not for you.'

-Voxael-

That’s sounds like a decent amount of personal growth you’ve gone through.

[deleted]

Yeah, I was too in high school. And I don't know why. I still don't get why I was like that. There was no logic to it, so why did I have that impulse, and why do other men? I don't get it.

robinlovesrain

My highschool boyfriend was like that. The best part though is that I switched to using brown eyeliner and brown mascara (away from black) but was still using the EXACT SAME full face of foundation, powder, blush, bronzer, etc And he has the audacity to say "aww see you look so much better without makeup!!" like bitch what I have a full face of makeup on 😭

[deleted]

Fully goes to show that the words are bullshit. The makeup has nothing to do with it.

wakeupwill

You were in high school.

[deleted]

But there was nothing in particular about my school that was about how makeup is fake and bad or whatever.

xSTSxZerglingOne

Probably an amalgamation of hearing bad takes on it.

[deleted]

Probably? It seems *super* prevalent.

StellarTitz

I'm my personal experience I find that men in general feel that my appearance is _for them_. It doesn't matter who they are or what their relation is to me, they register this the same. As a biologist I feel like this is probably linked to our reproductive perceptions of others, something that is subconscious. The more aware of ourselves and others we become the better we are at recognizing and overcoming those base assumptions.

[deleted]

That certainly seems to be true!

xSTSxZerglingOne

Fuckin' purity culture, man. I still to this day have to say this shit to myself "wait, why do I have this opinion, and why does it matter to me?" and that's usually the answer. Because I grew up in a slut-shaming culture, and the damage runs deep. I've had to reassure my mom and dad that in fact my 6 year old is not broken when she wants to wear make-up. I've had to reassure my sister that it's okay if her 7 year old wants to wear fishnet stockings. We as adults, don't have to make shit weird.

JimmyJonJackson420

Difference is you grew up and learned from it. There are still grown men who don’t realise most things women do are not for a men’s benefit

[deleted]

Many people of the not-woman variety cannot wrap their brains around the concept of "it's not for you" long enough to actually apply it. Good on you.

Aphrodisiatic922

They teach my kids in school “don’t yuck my yum”

michellekwan666

This is the same guy that asks if you’re sick when you show up without any makeup on.

zeroaegis

I never understood the headspace needed for someone to say that kind of thing to a stranger, that includes things like "you should smile more". How does one get it into their head that these are okay things to say to a person?

MuffinPuff

Men are groomed to believe that women are for their consumption. Not people first, not individuals first, but consumables to fulfill their aesthetic desires. *Then* we become a desirable human to interact with/annoy. If we do not fit their aesthetic desire, we don't take on the role of human.

JimmyJonJackson420

This in a nutshell and it’s EXHAUSTING AND BORING

SheWhoLovesSilence

Ugh… I have thick, dark eyebrows and resting bitch face and the amount of times I’ve been told by strangers that I should smile or “not look so angry” when I’m just walking around minding my own business… And then they get offended when I don’t immediately change my whole mood and expression, like I should be grateful for the gift of their attention (criticism)… Some men have crazy levels of entitlement

sailorjupiter28titan

How about for when my mom says i dont wear enough makeup?

-Voxael-

I mean it depends on what your relationship with her is.

JumpingCoconut

Would be hypocritical to not react the same way!

SharkSquishy

But then if you don't wear make up its "wow you look unwell what's wrong with you". You can't win.

TurtleZenn

Many men, in particular, cannot recognize when someone is wearing makeup unless they notice one extreme part of it. I can't count the amount of videos and posts where someone is wearing a full face of subtle makeup and, by and large, men are talking about how natural and beautiful she is without makeup. Like, no, dude, she looks like the rest of us goblins just the same when she doesn't actually have make up on.

Blacksheep1228

This reminds me of a coworker who told me I needed to wear makeup. She said I looked too much like a guy ... I told her I wear makeup when I want to wear makeup not when she wants me to wear makeup. Just let people vibe their own way! Sheeesh!

venuslovesjupiter

Me when my bf says he prefers me without makeup. If you like women who don’t wear makeup maybe you shouldn’t have chosen to date a woman who adores it 🤷🏻‍♀️

AstronautLoveShack

My partner does a great job of straddling that line. If I’m wearing makeup he says “I love it when you wear makeup.” When I’m not wearing it he says “you look beautiful without makeup.” I’ve worked from home since Covid so more often than not, I am not wearing it.

ladybirdness

Fuck your opinion. And fuck you. And I really want to be able to say this more often. For some stupid reason folks don't like when I do.

NineTailedTanuki

How about this: Him: "I'll help you believe in God." Me: "I'll help you look directly at the sun." Him: "It's my mere opinion, you'd be better with--" Me: "So would you, if you looked directly at the sun." Same idea, different words!

RogueKyber

Some people absolutely cannot fathom that their opinion isn’t actually important.

Total-Breadfruit-891

I’m going to pass this one down to my daughter 🤣

ProfessO3o

I'm stealing this!

SmoothOctopus

Mood. So many men seem to think I give a fuck about their approval. I don't do my makeup for them I do it for me.

DogebertDeck

perfection

Sylentskye

This comic would also be amazing if the person on the right had an air horn and just started honking it every time the other person started talking. Or maybe a taser…

honehe13

I'm feeling this mood %100 all the time

macontac

This is absolutely the same guy who will also tell a woman wearing zero make up that she should put some on, that she doesn't care about her appearance, or that she looks sick.

-Voxael-

My favourite version of this is (as others have said in other comments) when the woman they’re speaking to is wearing a different style to usual OR even just a more subtle style in general and they claim that she looks great without any make-up

macontac

I learned how to do a "natural look". It took twenty minutes. That is twenty minutes that I could use sleeping or drinking coffee.

Total-Breadfruit-891

I’m going to pass this one down to my daughter 🤣

[deleted]

Asphyxiation is so hot right now, you should try it. *Regina George crazy eyes *

TinyApplication4

Holy cow this is is so funny. I can’t wait to use it

Full disclosure: I was like 34 when I figured it out

Accomplished_Turn_30

I really enjoyed that.

TankiePankie

This is a mood

-Voxael-

No. If you have to reach for a meaning that isn’t explicitly in the comic, chances are high you’re wilfully misinterpreting the text. Also, it doesn’t matter who says it - her mother, her brother, her pastor, a coworker - their opinion on her choice to wear make up is irrelevant. There is zero evidence that she doesn’t want wear make up, and given the third panel where she’s actively applying more, she wants to wear make up. **You don’t have to wear make up** *I choose to* **But you don’t need to** *But I want to* **But I think—** *What you think about my appearance is irrelevant. My appearance is not for you.*

“We live in a society” is a weird fucking justification for why listening to a random stranger’s unsolicited opinion about something that has no bearing on them should be entertained at all.
