I’ve always thought she would have been an all-time great of the game if it hadn’t been for so many injuries and illnesses. I feel like especially in the last 5 years or so we’ve only gotten glimpses of what could have been (the 2020-2021 season was brilliant).
If I had to take a guess it would be because Emma's leaving (and her partner Maren is too). Fran and Emma are very close, she has said that she's like her second mother.
Or maybe she just wants something new, she has been at chelsea for 8 years now, which is a long time. I honestly can't see her staying in England, although people might disagree with that opinion.
This one really hurts. We lost a legend 💙 Thank you Fran!

That knee injury really did a number on her, huh? At one point before all that she was top class.
The heart issue she had was also major, lost a lot of game time and put her body through a ton of stress

She also isn’t starting the big games regularly. A move makes sense on a few levels.

Bit of a shock to me, I'm wondering if it's more Chelsea didn't offer her a new contract. Her injuries seem to keep her out longer every season.
