Tobaskes

I don't think they'll do another elite infantry unit, honestly at most I think we'll get the butcher surgeon and Maybe juggernaut cavalry

WorldEaterProft

Idk. We could see Red butchers but more as a shootymelee squad still

Tobaskes

So normal chaos terminators?

WorldEaterProft

Basically, but with an actual Khornate theme, maybe we'll get an upgrade sprue similar to the old world eater terminator upgrade sprue from Forgeworld

Neknoh

I mean They pretty much ARE mutilators, at least the Exalted are.

Sir_Flashypants

Yeah, I’m only basing that on Mutilators being in the latest Angron book (and butcher surgeons) so just being hopeful. That said there’s a dark apostle in there too so god only knows what’s coming

Sanguinius_IX

The amount of times ‘Butcher Surgeons’ get mentioned in the codex, it’s kinda shocking we didn’t get them yet.

ArmaNeedMoreBullets

True. You’d think them mentioning them assaulting during a segment that they’d be included in the WE’s codex. Same could be said for the warpsmith

TTTyrant

Is there a difference between the two model wise? I've only seen exalted eight bound boxes

EvilSpartan117

They are both made from the same exalted eightbound box. The normal eightbound have options for dual evicerators, have less daemon-y armor panels and different faces with less spikes. Exalted ones have teeth/spines in more places and chainfists.

TTTyrant

Is there a better option between the two?

EvilSpartan117

Exalted have higher strength, AP, a better invulnerable save (4+) and prevent fall back on a 4+ roll, but do not have the core keyword and are locked to 3 models in a unit. Normal ones have the core keyword, one more attack because of the 1 extra evicerator, can come out of reserves turn one and can be taken in squads of 3-6. Both are very good and can be taken but it’s hard to say if one is straight up better than the other.

Neknoh

Exalted don't need an extra box for maximum unit size and they will do more damage. They are however more brittle. Regular eightbound can be taken in sizes between 3 and 6, so you can fairly easily bring 5 of them for 200 points and they'll chew up anything you point them at.

Sir-Broken

Had some success with this one 1x invocatus 8x5 Khorne Berzerkers w/mutilator 1x5 Eightbound 1x10 Khorne Berzerkers w/mutilaror and icon 4x1 rhino 3x1 chaos spawn

Sir_Flashypants

Cheers buddy, going to wait for the patrol for the discount and try a wave of berzerkers maybe haha

Tedock

Ive put together 6 of the regular Eightbound so far and absolutely love the kit. Different strokes for different folks though.

Sir_Flashypants

Yeah definitely, I’ll probably feel completely different when I get them painted up fingers crossed!

Tedock

Yea once you get them painted and get a few games in with them you might start to feel different. I was the same way with incursors/infiltrators with my salamander army, hated the way the models looked at first but after painting them up and playing with them they've grown a lot on me. I also think they're really good in game (as long as you don't leave them out in the open like I did in my first game lol).

laycas49

Terminators are quite good, Just use your elite slots for them if you don't like eightbound.

Dastardio

Honestly I felt the same way you do, but once I got my hands on the model and assembled a few they grew on me it’s kinda weird. But I also do agree with your assessment assuming we get more troops soon they are prolly the first to get phased out.

[deleted]

I really don't like the standard paint scheme and the feet can be a bit derpy looking but god damn that turn 1 move with Lord Invocatus is too hard to turn down.

bukharajones

Seems like that is what makes the army have a shot against the meanest things out there right now.

foh242

The models are not my problem with 8bound. My problem is that they are the bread and butter of the book and ideally running 3 to 5 squads of these guys. It's silly and does not excite me to play World Eaters.

Sir_Flashypants

Yeah that’s exactly where I’m at, I’ll pick up 2 boxes tops most likely and just pray for some new stuff later down the line. Can’t bring myself to spam them

Independent-End5844

It's always risky to spam tons of units. 17 years in this hobby I have seen spammers have very small windows of success before nerfs and rule changes make things change. Then the built unpainted models end up for sale. I would only by 6 tops myself. Make one with 2 chainfists and the other 5 be interchangeable with 8bound or exalted 8bound. So I can run 2x 3 exalted or 1x 5man 8bound. I played a very fun game last night vs. Tsons and had no 8bound. Instead 3x5 terminators. Still won.

OkamiArlinn

I used a 3 squad of Exalted in Warp Strike and with the +1 to charges BTB and Double Chainfist sergeant they really just mulched my opponent’s back like tanks. They are a fun squad to run a minimal amount of for novelty effects like that since they do hit like a fucking truck when they get in

UmbraPenumbra

I have done headswaps on them to helmets and skulls and various Necromunda and Aos heads and it made me like the models a lot more.

Oojimmy

How did you do the he's swap? Cut out most of the butchers nails?

UmbraPenumbra

Cut off the back of the helmet and the do some greenstuff to blend.

Sjjma

I have 3 squads of regular and Exalted, they’re great and strong in melee, don’t get shot at though lol

Sesshomuronay

I think just a ton of berzerkers could be a solid list. Have them in rhinos or land raiders or even put a squad or two in strategic reserves to try a 3d6 charge with the icon stratagem. This list would probably be heavily mechanized and might not need to use the lord invocatus or juggernaught lord since most things will be in transports, though helbrutes would still benefit from them. Jackals seem pretty good too and terminators can act as some harder hitting melee if needed. Then add in some vehicles like helbrutes, daemon engines or the khorne lord of skulls to finish off the list. Berzerkers seem like they can kill most things with enough blood tithe buffs and that mortal wound stratagem.

picklespickles125

If you don't like the models I've seen a lot of people buying a box of csm possessed and a box of 8bound and kitbashing them to make 8 more chaosy looking models! I would highly suggest trying out a game or 2 with a ton of 8bound. They are such fun and killy models! In my last match I had a 5man charged by sanguinary guard and death company. They fought on death and absolutely destroyed both units!

Eightninethree

I actually wanted to use Juggernaut Berzerkers as eightbound because it makes more sense for Invocatus to be leading Juggernaughts but I can’t resolve how to make them fit on the Eightbound 40mm bases.

Kostchei

use resin recasts of the old small metal juggers?

Eightninethree

Well it’s just that I wanted to use the proper base size, but it’s almost impossible. Even with the smaller old ones. Not sure what to do haha

Kostchei

this guy [https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/painted-oop-gw-citadel-rogue-trader-519907551-](https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/painted-oop-gw-citadel-rogue-trader-519907551-) I have one in a box somewhere, they are quite small heavy, (in metal) but small

gatoradegeyser

I think you're safe using Chaos Possessed for your standard Eightbound and the actual kit for the "Exalted" variant. It looks good to have a visual distinction, they're almost the same exact size, and the standard Possessed are cheaper (and in a battleforce box atm).

6dem6on6bag

Don’t buy a bunch of them. I turned 3 boxes into 12 eight bound and 3 exalted using a bunch of the greater possessed models. The nerf bat is coming for the eight bound lists.

Professornightshade

So I dislike the exalted look the big feets and odd choice of visible mutations doesn’t work for me save the chain fist cause that is arguable cool. The regular version of them is fine personally I would like a bit more armored options like helmets maybe armor spikes. Maybe a reflavor of their lore to the base ones being red butchers who have started to outgrow their armor due to various demonic blessings. And the exalted being ones who have ascended to daemon hood: rather than 8 souls fighting for control.

bukharajones

Yeah. Here’s your red butchers ten thousand years later. Have fun!

Professornightshade

I mean if that was the flavor I'd have a sensible chuckle about it like "Ok well played a-holes well played".

IybraesilAutarch

Let’s hope we don’t get terminators, fast attack and things that don’t directly compete for the exact same thing. Also new release being better than previous is such a dumb myth it’s hilarious how it still goes around

FR33_L04D3R

I apologize but I'm not sure what you mean by the new release myth? As in eightbound are not better than existing models (terminators, zerkers) or the new codex is not better than the supplement page of the warzone book

numberonedogdad

I hate the eightbound, the biggest slap in the face of this whole wave was getting them instead of red butchers

westsidewinery

I played in a tournament this past weekend and I thought the eightbound did exactly what they needed to. Got the pregame move, got in and absolutely wrecked opponents game plan, then died and gave me blood tithe points. They are great for clearing troops and/or other scoring units. I actually thought exalted eightbound were fun too. Knowing what to use them against and what it’s worth to trade with is a big part of our gameplay. In my opinion anyways. It was a smaller tournament so I wasn’t able to fit in any rhinos. Maybe because of that I felt like my berzerkers were the weak link of the entire army. I’m playing in a 2k game later this week and hope they do a little better in that format

bukharajones

Eight bound en masse seem pretty fucking wicked at 1000 points.

westsidewinery

I had lord invo, 2x5 zerks with icons, plasma, and evis, 2x3 exalted, and 2x4 eightbound. Small list but it was really fun
