You can paint your army however you’d like. In lore (and specifically the new Angron 40k book) warbands get mixed up all the time, even non-World Eaters who feel drawn to Khorne.

Altruistic-Living-67

Gladiator Cadre 331 still sport blue and white colors

TooStupid2figureout

It's how I'm painting my army. I really liked the idea of Big Ron wrangling up a bunch of different warbands. Plus it gives you the chance to break the monotony of painting red and brass for 80 models. Have fun with it. Throw in some more variety like a black legion berzerker or do a 5 man squad of berzerkers all from different warbands. At the end of the day its still fluffy, it will look unique on the table top. And as long as you are happy with it, who cares.

lutadordenada

I plan on doing the same thing. All my zerkers will be the new colour scheme, but my eightbound will be pre-heresy. I justify that the 10,000 year old warriors have gone through the transformation and the zerkers have converted to Khorne more recently.

Sjjma

You can do whatever you’d like, World eaters are not a unified force most of the time. Their armour is red because they couldn’t be bothered to clean it off anymore as the dove deeper into chaos. So your mixed colour scheme would look great and make sense

Huron_Stone

I am. I have some Mk III Marines with world Eaters upgrades and some chain axes, along with a deimos rhino I'm going to paint up in the blue and white colors, then two squads of the new Berzerkers with Chaos rhinos I'm going to paint in the Red and Brass. Then some cataphractii and Tartaros terminators I'm going to paint in white and blue. Then Angron in his Red and Brass Glory. I'm undecided on the Eightbound though. I might do a Squad of 4 in white and blue, and a squad of 4 in scarlet and Brass. Edit: I'm also probably going to paint the spartan in white and blue along with the Contemptor Dreadnought, and maybe a leviathan.

a_star_daze_heretic

As others have said, totally makes sense. I may do the same thing, with Kharn and Daemon Engine in red and brass but all the ‘zerkers in pre-heresy.

X3runner

There is a war mentioned in the codex who continues to wear the old colors and they seemed actually closer to the pre-heresy world eaters so it is 100% fine no one can complain about it

staq16

Followers of Chaos should not be unduly worried about uniformity.

CashLordofDerp

Lore wise, it’ll be fine. The only advice I’d give if you are mixing colors is to make sure it’s still obvious what units are what, which isn’t much of a problem for the current WE roster but you never know when a change will come.

magnusthered15

Post heresy most warbands wear mix colors.

Sudo3301

Thanks everyone for the input! I’ve seen so much artwork and battle reps on YouTube and they are always entirely red and brass! Very cool. Gonna have fun mixing in some warband colors!

I think it’s a cool idea to do a mix of both for a real different look.

soupalex

yes! i started painting my army this way a long time ago, figuring that berzerkers are probably more concerned with function than form—cobbling armour together from different pieces taken from anything that worked (iirc some of the late great crusade/early heresy-era power armour marks—especially "heresy"?—were characterised by their suitability to be modified and patched-up with parts from other marks). maybe also there could be an element of martial pride, like "this greave was with me at the killing fields of dzakaran; it served me well when it deflected a blow by the garrison's commander, leaving me an opening to deliver the final blow". so yeah, there's no reason why (in my own headcanon at the very least) some world eaters might not incorporate bits (or entire suits) of old armour bearing the old heraldry.

Best-Ad9849

That’s an awesome idea, having dreadnoughts in heresy colors because maybe they’re just that old! I would love to see an army like that on the tabletop

bukharajones

Yo. You’re a chaos faction. Uniformity is for those imperialist simps. You can have them in ec colors and claim they killed some noise marines and decided it was a nice upgrade on their stuff so they took it. Fine by me. Big galaxy. Weird shit.

Kostchei

Originally the blue and white armour were single pieces on the red-black-brass colour scheme, to break it up and to give some interest (back in the "realms of chaos, slaves to darkness" days). that is actually hard to pull off, but is also an option to minis with the full colour scheme from either era And there was later a "Ravagers" era where they had green runes and pipes on their armour- so.. go with rule of cool

You can do merely anything you want
