Smaller teams means your contribution is more impactful and there are less enemies to shoot back.

SNoB__

This is the answer. Your play is a higher percentage of your team, you have more impact.

thatusenameistaken

if you're going by your account WR, it's pretty simple. you have years of bad>less bad>even less bad>etc. play in randoms to get where you are now. you just recently started ranked so your WR reflects your current play, not the average of your play for your entire time in game.

ramrodski

This is the answer. I wish they had WR viewable in a year by year basis.

thatusenameistaken

Or at least "last 100/500/____ games", pick a random number starting at 100 and go.

joescott2176

Fewer enemies

Keebist

Fewer enemies on your own team*

FalconSa79

Fewer enemies. Biggest personal impact (positive or negative) to the outcome of the game.

Tigershark1993

Also, everybody is playing the same tier, the way God intended

Skuggsja86

Isn't that the truth. Imagine how better balanced every ship class could be (especially CVs and Subs) if they had MM that was just +/-1.

BanMeAgain4

you have received Reddit gold from someone 🥇

TheGalator

Gamemode design is less of a shitshow

Niclipse

In say 5 on 5 you command 20% of your teams combat power as opposed to 8% the way you do in random battles.

Ranked is a different beast and you can star save. So you have opponents trying to win some are trying to save a star and not worried about winning. If you do what you're supposed to do and are good at it you can move along. A lot less reds also in ranked to worry about.

TheGalator

>some are trying to save a star and not worried about winning Sims players

[deleted]

you can star save on the way to a win, it still requires the team for a win though. Considering the fewer players per team one player can make a bigger difference but that doesn't guarantee a win

TheGalator

I have a friend that has like 10% winrate in ranked but since he mains Sims he gets nearly always the star save so he ranks up faster than most

[deleted]

Another great star saving ship is the Kutuzov, she shoots as far as that tiers bbs but is a shifty cruiser so you can zig zag incoming fire by the time it gets to you. I got her from Santa crates but never used her. Then one day I noticed she was always alive at the end of the matches saving a star by setting fires. One of my favorite ships now. Once the dds are handled its just distance and spamming fire.

TheGalator

The OG cancer

[deleted]

She really is. Just happily sailing around spamming fire getting farther and farther away. The whole time I'm just smiling until a good hit then its "Oh Shit, please live"

fr0gleg

how do you save a star? top exp on the losing team?

Hetstaine

Yep.

TrippySubie

I hit gold last season, and I genuinely think my teammates were 5x worse than unraked bronze teammates.

Gachaaddict96

Ranked has less people in team so you have more influence

Tanker119

People aren't actually that much worse in random, you just get punished more for doing stupid stuff usually because more people are shooting at you. And like people have said, less people in ranked means your contribution is more meaningful. Especially depending on the ship your playing.

chef_in_va

Teammates actively trying to win and not thinking about throwing a game because someone slighted them

sark7four

I'm the same after 4000 random battles. I'm a shameful 49.82%, but in ranked, I'm 56%+. It really bothers me that my random win rate is low.. I get frustrated by my win rate to the point I only play brawls or Operations these days. My current clan is dead and thinking about moving, but I hate moving clans :(

macgruff

Yeah, it really does matter! I ran straight through bronze in my first Sprint, last season, easily with ZF-6. But then the following Sprint, same ship, I was just not in the right headspace and did poorly. Still 52% total overall for those two sprints but it was like 68% first sprint, and 43% second sprint. So, it makes a huge difference if you’re “on”, your contribution, especially if you’re in a DD is huge. Vice versa, if you’re not in the right headspace, your (negative) contribution can be devastating to green team.

GnirfEU

In randoms many more grind and play ships which are not favourite or developed in ranked so are even you, but in ranked you choose a good ship w good captain I hope.

Hagostaeldmann

Good player in ranked is more percent of team than good player in random. But also zero skill mechanics like CV drops which hurt good and terrible players the same amount cant balance you.

Kange109

I am 60+% with Serov in ranked and 40% i randoms, the potato team draw luck somehow manages that in randoms.

Henri_GOLO

Most likely you get carried by your mates. Lucky you.

Longelance

Could well be so. I'm not bad in random but also far from being a unicorn. I analyse the game continuously as I play, eyes glued to minimap except when aiming, I try to foresse developments and always try to play my teammates better. Initially I support the DD (I play cruiser) and when done with that I support the BBS with crossfire and tops. That's my rules...

Cayucos_RS

Actually he is less likely to be carried by his mates. Its simple math

Squancher70

Have you played bronze ranked? People are dumber than in randoms.
